Evolve’s Open Beta Has Me Worried…

Entertainment Fuse: "After a rough and basically broken Alpha for the PS4 a few months back I have finally had a chance to play Evolve. Between the time the last alpha came out and now, I bought an Xbox One. So I downloaded the Xbox One open beta and played a dozen or more matches of this new co-op shooter"

There doesnt seem to be much content in the game not to mention their horrendous DLC. Is there even a story in this game?
I remember the days of the PS2 where products are shipped complete with no .BS DLC to be added and they make there is enough content to justify the purchase. Nowadays companies and devs rely heavily on DLC and many people go out and buy them. Only four developers i trust! Kojima/ND/R*/CD projekt/. Those are the real devs out there.

I honestly believe that The publishers have a lot to do with this. They just a don't give devs enough time to develop the games anymore. They want to release games ever year or two when they really should be out every 3 or 4 years. I think they need to start giving the devs the time they need instead of forcing them to release it prematurely and fill the rest with DLC.

I am not sure if I want to support this game. It is really fun and I enjoy it but the whole DLC thing turns me off.

I really wish DLC would only be to expand the games longevity instead of finishing the already started product

R* releases GTA when they know its a complete amazing product.

CD Projeckt while having three games only, delayed The Witcher 3 so they can give us the best possible product with free dlc that every company should do to the gamers who shell out 60$.

Kojima always delivers a masterpiece and Konami never rushes him too.

All i care about are those four that are passionate to work there hardest to give us the best product they can.

Rocksteady also delivers, but their dlc stories that they announce as pre orders should also be in the game. Thats why i didnt include them.

Played the beta on xb1 , playing as the monster got boring fast. The multiplayer was cool but , I myself .....kinda worried and that dlc pricing ??? Man.... Very concerned.

@Darkocelot I agree with pretty much everything you say, and I do love R* games but GTA wasn't complete when it was originally released.
The online was completely broken for quite a while, and then theres those infamous heists which were originally part of the game and not DLC (atleast it will be free though...).

Publishers are not completely to blame for lack of content. If the devs didn't think they had enough content they wouldn't release it this is 2K here we are talking about you think they rush rockstar and GTA? Or they rushed those bioshocks? Nope. The fact is even if you add 100 monsters and tons of hunters this game would still boil down to the same issues its having and thats the fact it gets boring quick.

Just curious as to how other's gameplay experience is...

Every match(for me) consists of us hunters finding the monster within a minute and just continually following him until we bring him down for good. The hunters are just as fast which makes it completely unbalanced.
As the monster...
It's impossible to "Evolve" when the hunters are constantly shooting at your back and you can't get away from them cause there's four of them and one of you. Which makes it even worst is they can follow you wherever you go and you seem to move so dang slow, at least as the monster playable in the beta.
I want to like Evolve, but my final evaluation is that it's too unbalanced to want to play.
Perhaps the single player will feel more in tact, let's hope so.

The trouble is that you need someone that really knows how to play the monster properly, I played over 30 games with the monster and only lost 1, its no fun when its to easy and I do agree with you to a certain extent.

At this point because most of the lobbies are filled with randoms they can't coordinate with each other to intercept the monster and trap them. The best strategy is called the MAST, where the assault and the medic chase the monster while the support and the trapper intercept it and dome it. I understand that the game may seem unbalanced if you're pugging but the game is balanced with a good monster and a good team in mind, most of which you won't find through matchmaking.

The monsters are quite a bit faster than the hunters, it's rather easy to avoid them until stage 3 if they're uncoordinated, you just need to learn how to maximise your movement speed, including using abilities like the goliath's charge. The problem with the kraken is that because it is mostly in the air mines and other proximity equipment is pretty much useless, although he is a easier target to hit. As for the wraith, it is utterly broken with how easy it is to get away from the hunters, even if they dome you you can pop decoy and they won't find you for most of the arena's duration.

If you find that it's too easy to catch the monster then it's obvious that the player was horrible and didn't know how to avoid detection. Aside from the wraith, the game is surprisingly well balanced, and I already bought mine.

Yah, I've had a few matches against the wraith and it usually ends up with it running away the whole game and negating pretty much every dome with the decoy.

Evolve is a really good game when played as a team but it relies heavily on that fact. I can't see it really doing to great because its not like a lot of other multiplayer games where you can get by on your own or has a decent campaign to compliment it. Its a shame really because it has some great elements but it won't have mass appeal because it just don't have the content it probably needs.

Roll on Left 4 Dead 3 I say.

What puzzles me is people nowadays are unwilling to Learn how to play a different kind of game than what their used to. It's sad really.

Very disappointed with the beta. Very repetitive and lacking content. Also a bit clunky. I can forgive some of that because it's a beta but I just can't see this being good after playing the beta.

I'd just like to put a point across about Evolve, it is more of a hardcore team based game, I think its actually very balanced but it requires communication and tactics. I find it to be very fun and engaging. Its never going to sell a load just because it isn't a casual type of game. I actually like the fact that they have clearly made a hardcore game, I'm also sad at the same time because people don't seem to want games that require multiple skills to succeed. I'm really torn on whether to buy it because most of my online mates just won't give it a chance.

That's the same problem I'm having...it looks great but I don't have friends that will give this game a chance and this game feels like you need friends to play with because it sucks playing with random people thus making me having to pass this game up

I notice they said "we got the idea from the tank in the L4D games"....as great as that was, the only reason that worked so well is because you were on a very short timer to do as much damage as possible before you resumed as your normal infected character. Running was not an option!

Glad I am not the only one. I played the beta and found the game to be nothing special. Playing as a beast was kinda fun thats it. The hunters gameplay was a total bore however. I will be skipping this game.

I don't understand some people. The beta has been great fun for me something different than the usual repeated stuff we get nowadays. My fear is if we don't get behind games like this then were gonna be stuck with the same repeated shite everyone and their dogs sick of.
I can understand if u have only gave it a couple of goes and not gave it a chance, I found personally it's better when uve had a good long stint as the monster and each of the classes and learn what each one is for. If people are not willing to at least give new ip a chance then I'm worried where gaming in General is going...
