Most Disappointing Game of 2014

gamrReview's Joseph Trotter: "Like realising that your blind date is Sarah Jessica Parker or Kevin Spacey when every other participant is Gwyneth Paltrow or Ryan Gosling, disappointing does not mean that something is necessarily bad (indeed it may be very good), just that it does not match the quality expected from an eager audience.

For gaming, much of this disappointment is self-inflicted. Publishers hype up expectations through grandiose claims and misleading trailers, only for this aggrandisement to ultimately be met by nonplussed gamers who feel that the product was mis-sold. At other times, it may just be that a game promised much but failed to deliver. A game that matches one person's expectations may massively disappointment another. Those listed below particularly disappointed the gamrReview staff in 2014."

I see your MCC and raise you a ....

Destiny.

It had so much potential but upon release all you got was an abysmal story and dull MP that lack basic matchmaking functions (still) like LFG. If Destiny had been made by EA, Capcom or Ubisoft gamers would have thrown them under the bus.

Assassin Creed Unity

The product was release way too early. It make you think Ubisoft outsource their QA team or just told them "FU we're releasing the product anyway." Imho Unity really didn't push the series forward and felt like an expansion upon previous entry.

Watch Dog

This game was overhype out the gate. Then the graphics degraded and not to mention Ubisoft poor optimization of the game. Hidden in the code was "E3 Settings" for pc users. While gameplay was decent the characters were underwhelming/unlikeable along with the story.

Watch Dogs Hands down. The promise and hype was insane and it really failed to deliver. It was supposed to be THE next gen poster child...

I really tried to like the game, I did. It had good ideas but like you said the hype around the game for next gen killed it. It felt like a PS3 game

I tried to like it as well but I just couldn't do it lol. I made the mistake on downloading it too :/

Most disappointing game last year have to be between Destiny and Watchdogs

Hard to be the poster boy for next gen while still on last gen...

Assassins Creed Unity for me, i tried to give Ubisoft the benefit of the doubt but the issues were just too much, i traded it in, the game was beautiful but the stability kinda ruined the experience, especially after long playing sessions, the frame rate issues were bearable for a few minutes any longer and it starts to get worse, Yep, Assassins Creed Unity sadly, the game had potential and did a lot of things better than it's predecessors.

Call of duty hands down. First COD game I've ever returned after a few weeks. Couldn't put up with the same lag compensation for another year

COD AW was awful in my opinion as well...but Destiny wins for me...I can't speak for ac unity as I got it on the cheap when it was fixed

Watch dogs for me, i can't believe i actually beat the game

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate
