EA access is a great service with its price tag.

ShowanW3441d ago (Edited 3441d ago )

This...

A bunch of games most wouldn't buy today for $30 for a whole year. Why not.

I even gave EA $2.00 just to use Bruce Lee in UFC before they threw him in for free.

CloudRap3441d ago

I had it but had to cancel it because for some reason EA games like DA inquisition and BF4 crash constantly on my xbox one( not sure if its just my console), so I just get EA games for ps4 instead.

EvilWay3441d ago

EA Access is a good service but lacks good games, but atleast the price is right $5 a month is not bad at all

SoapShoes3441d ago

For $10 more a month you can get $100+ games with PS Plus.

SoapShoes3441d ago

I just don't see how EA access is good at all. I wouldn't pay to get some games a few weeks early and it really is lacking in the vault although it's getting better.

No_Limit3441d ago (Edited 3441d ago )

You mean old PS3 games and NOT current gen games for $10 more a month?? Also, EA Access is only $30 a year vs $180 for a full year of PSN Now sub..so you are wrong on all account...like usual.

It is like going to a Mall with 2 movie theaters. One is showing the Avengers 2 and the other is a bargain movie theater showing a triple feature of Iron-man One, Captain America, and Thor from many years ago.

EvilWay3441d ago

EA Access is not great right now unless you want BF4 or UFC but it should be in the future and the 6 hour demo system makes it worth it for me alone

Blaze9293441d ago (Edited 3441d ago )

EA Access is a genius platform. The issue with sony offering it for multiplatform games is i imagine they have to pay the publisher - which is why we got those crazy prices.

The publisher should just be able to do it themselves and through that, we get more realistic prices.

I hope more publishers follow EA because I would love a 2K Access, Ubisoft Access, Activision Access etc. When it comes down to it, there are really only 3-4 publishers I buy games from every year: Activision, EA, Ubisoft, NamcoBandai.

If all those were $30/year and worked similar to EA Access, it'd still be a better value at $90/year - than the entire PS Now service.

Ashlen3441d ago

If you had to pay 5$ a month for every companies "accsess" plan it would a lot cost more than 20$ per month.

Blaze9293441d ago (Edited 3441d ago )

Yeah probably, which is why i said nothing about per month lol.

Gh05t3441d ago

maybe... but I only pay $2.50 for EA access... I would do the same for the other publishers if I got some decent current gen games like I do with EA.

jb2273441d ago

What crazy prices are you referring to? Playstation Plus is 50 bucks a year w/ great games across all genres & platforms for free, not to mention all of the discounts. EA simply can't compete w/ that variety considering they definitely aren't adding 4 or 5 new games a month. This is not competing w/ PS Now as it's a completely different prospect, but even then I'd personally pay a little more to access to better games…the same 4 or 5 are bound to get old after a couple weeks.

Sayburr3441d ago

$50 for three months, not a year.

No_Limit3441d ago (Edited 3441d ago )

it is $20 a year for PSN Now streaming or about $45 for 3 months which equates to about $180 for a handful of old PS3 games vs $30 a year on EA Access, which equals to $2.50 a month.

The $50 a month is for PSN+ which is required to play online and you do get a couple of minor games a month for it just like XBLive on XB1 and X360. You are mistaken PSN+ with the new PS NOW subscription service.

So, EA access, even with a smaller game library, is still the best streaming deal on console because it is cheap and you get to play the latest CURRENT GEN titles like Madden 2015 and not Madden 2006 from the X360/PS3 era.

jb2273441d ago

@No Limit

I know the difference between the 2 services but EA Access more akin to PS+ as it's a download platform for current gen games & not a streaming platform is it not? Either way, the games released for it are far from minor. Infamous First Light was just released a couple months ago & all of the other great games are from this generation. It's all down to personal preference really, if you only dig Sports & Shooters and you won't be bothered by waiting around 6 months or more to play those games then EA Access is most likely a good deal. I personally like to try all genres so PS+ kills EA Access. There's more variety & far more games numbers wise as there are at least 2 new games per platform released each month.

If you want to compare it to a streaming service which functions completely differently that's like comparing apples to hammers but I'd rather pay 4x more a month for around 20x as many games at this early juncture, not to mention all of the PS2 & 1 games that will be released for it. Numbers seem pretty clear cut to me but you can't definitively say it's a better proposition for anyone other than yourself.

SliceOfTruth8883441d ago

for $2.50 a month its hard to argue the insane value it gives. Anyone who thinks differently is just a fanboy

There are no "thoughtful" ads in video games, EA

There are no thoughtful ads in Video Games, EA. Leave them be.

I think the only type of games that can gets away with it would be sport games, having those sponsors ads on the side like on real life.

But don't put freaking Doritos ads in Star Wars or something, it breaks the immersion. If it is a pop-up ads, then big no.

Hofstaderman21d ago

EA can thoughtfully eff themselves.

Makersbreath221d ago

EA coming back for the crown of being perceived as the worst company in gaming.

Chocoburger20d ago (Edited 20d ago )

One of my favorite series is the THPS franchise, and it was packed with ads, but it didn't bother me. Posters for skateboard companies, JEEP, and Nokia phones. It did sort of fit in with the game world, but that was the past, these days ad would be intentionally intrusive or unskippable loading screen type of imagery. Ugh, I know EA would do it in a horrible fashion. Screw them.

Report: Sexual Misconduct Investigation Conducted at EA, Suspects Named and What They Did Revealed

EA senior staff has been investigated for sexual misconduct involving female coworkers, and these said people have been named publicly.

isarai26d ago

Aye just call Phil, i mean he somehow made Bobby Kotick's scandal disappear and gave him a few million dollar high five on the way out.

Cacabunga26d ago

I wonder if it will be censored with some in game ads.

MrBaskerville24d ago (Edited 24d ago )

Microsoft did, Phil Spencer played a minor part. He instigated the buyout that led to Kotick escaping all his controversies while getting a golden handshake.

Someone on Twitter calculated that the people hired in Tango and Arkane Austin could get a decent salary for roughly 17 years for the money Kotick was paid.

InUrFoxHole23d ago

Yeah some thing tells me Kotics $ was already guaranteed before MS made the deal. As for the studios... Let's be honest here... none of those studios made system sellers.

XiNatsuDragnel26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

EA about to go down like Activision and then Phil saves the day saying.this is good for the industry and consolidation will help create competition. /s.

MrBaskerville24d ago

Then they shutdown Codemasters and studio behind Jedi Survivor.

Atleast they could hardly do much damage that EA hadn't allready done. EA has shut down most of their studios by now.

ravens5226d ago

What's up with all these horny creeps. You gon be horny, fine. Just not at work take care of that shit before you go in. Rub one out if you have to. Don't be a creep at all. ESPECIALLY at work. But don't be one AT ALL.

Extermin8or3_26d ago

I mean part of the issue is that things transpired outside of work....

MrBaskerville24d ago

That's the thing he mentioned about not being a creep at all.

KwietStorm_BLM26d ago

You think deviants care where they are? Work sometimes makes it an even better situation for them because they can abuse their power.

mudakoshaka25d ago

Nerds think they are Gods when they are making video games.

NotoriousWhiz26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

"it seems that according to EA, given the events transpired outside of work between two adults, and the fact that once investigation has started that the alleged perpetrators didn’t do it again, the investigation is considered closed. [...] The victim still has to work with the people that harassed her."

Yep, EA is disgusting.

Extermin8or3_26d ago

I mean the fact stuff happened outside of work puts EA in quite a difficult position legally. These women don't seem to have reported the matter to the police which kinda ties EA's hands on what they can do. If they don't file reports of the crimes then yeah from EA's perspective it is stuff that happened outside of work. The only exception is the guy that apparently referenced things in the slack channel for work, spending on what he said proving it may be very hard and he may well be able to get away with plausible deniability. I don't like EA and I think these people need to be dismissed but without any legal action being taken, EA can't really do much without risk of being sued themselves for unfair dismissal etc.

Well, anything to make those shareholders happy, I guess. They're all that matters in this industry nowadays.

EA stocks haven't been profitable in over 5yrs. They better hope Take-two don't get the FIFA license lol.
