Assassin's Creed Unity Review | NoobFeed

NoobFeed writes - Assassin's Creed Unity is a beautiful game, but lacks any major improvement or unique feature that the other Assassin Creed games are known for such as Black Flag's sailing or Ezio Auditore’s double hidden blades. Instead the technical hiccups and elimination of previous gameplay elements leave the game empty, with an elegant coat of paint.

Assassins Creed 3 and this one are the worst in the series.

MasterCornholio3470d ago

I hated 3 so friggin much. On the other hand I loved Black Flag so much that I platinumed it. Its a shame that they screwed up with Unity though.

xLawliet3470d ago

How could you possibly hate AC3?

starchild3470d ago

This review is such nonsense. The Ubisoft hate is just getting ridiculous and it's clouding some people's judgement.

Sure, I understand the complaints against Ubisoft, but direct those criticisms at Ubisoft (mainly the management) and don't take it out on the games. Judge the games on their own merits.

This review is anything but fair. Unity is the best in the series for me. Most areas of the game have seen dramatic improvements: from the improved combat and stealth to the traversal mechanics, and from the flexible mission structure to the vastly improved customization, Unity is a much more enjoyable and challenging game than previous games in the series.

The narrative is also the best in the series to me, although I know this is more into subjective territory. I simply think Arno is a more likable character than most of the previous heroes. Although I did think Edward had a lot of charm and charisma. Not that the other lead characters weren't good too. Those two, in any case, were my favorite characters.

The graphics and overall presentation is simply gorgeous. The best looking game I've played all year.

Unity is getting unfairly attacked as a game because people are mad at Ubisoft or with the game's performance, but as a game Unity is very good. Easily one of the best games I've played this year. These kinds of absurdly low scores are a joke.

If you had known the reviewer and his obsession about Assassin's Creed series, you might not have said that.

(Potential Spoilers)

What a facking letdown. It was short, too many same missions, no main story, just a bunch of cliches. Just compare it with other assassin's creeds. They covered main story which is about those super beings and how they want to rule or help the humanity. Have you seen anything of that story in this? except that creepy sword. The whole story was to find a sage! WTF! we even didn't talked to him. It was all really about making a game, another Assassin's creed game, and just put a normal stupid story to amuse people nothing more. This game was a disappointing for a great story of AC games. they ruined this amazing franchise. I am really sad and sorry for them. This is how gaming industry goes, just work on graphics and clothes and forget story and gaming. The game was so simple and silly that you could run and kill everyone and finish it in one day. i think i am done with this series

Ubisoft has a MAJOR problem at the moment.

They develop games in amazing settings, but the storytelling is getting progressively worse. They are running out of ideas.

Remember how amazing AC2 was? A fantastic lead with interesting supporting characters. A setting that truly felt alive and a story that went deeper the further you progressed. Shame.

starchild3470d ago

AC2 is overated in my opinion. It was a clear step up from the first game and I really loved it at the time, but many of the AC games since then have surpassed it.

I didn't even think Ezio was that good of a character in AC2. It was mainly in Brotherhood and Revelations that he matured and I came to respect him. In AC2 he came off as a spoiled punk and while he later improved and I came to like him, he definitely wasn't that amazing to me as a character in most of AC2.

I honestly like Arno and the story in Unity better than AC2. I feel the magic in this game, with interesting, likable characters such as Arno and Elise, lots of drama and intrigue, generally good pacing (for an open world game) and really cool set piece moments...it's just a great narrative that genuinely keeps me wanting to find out what happens next.

My biggest issues with Unity are the stupid glowing circle that appears around you every time you are close to other people (at least give us the option to turn it off in the menu) and the general glitchiness of the NPCs at times. Other than that the game has been solid for me and I've had a lot of fun with it.

ufo8mycat3470d ago

STeve AC2 was only fantastic because at the time the gameplay was something fresh and new.

If AC2 was released NOW it the same state, it would be no way near as good.

If you compare AC2 now to the newer AC games, AC2 is barebones and baron.

It was only great because when it released it was something new and fresh. It would be pretty average now if it came out.

Unity is a huge step back in terms of gameplay

They pretty much went back to the gameplay mechanics of the previous games (exclude black flag). One city, same stealth, same old climbing.

Just gets boring after 4 games of this same stuff.

Black Flag was a BIG refresher and improvement with the open seas and ships and everything. This a step back to the old 1 city, doing the same old stuff from the other 4 AC games.

This type of gaemplay is getting stale. It was once amazing fun, but now after 5 games of this same stuff, its getting boring

Ubisoft need to change it up somehow, like they did with Black Flag

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis550d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde550d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils550d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia551d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack550d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain550d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall550d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast550d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
