Forget The Bugs, Assassin's Creed Unity Delivers The Graphical Leap That We've Been Waiting For

Its been a week since Assassin's Creed Unity was released on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Since then Ubisoft has been under constant fire for releasing a half baked product which felt like a beta code.

LoL Zbrush central has the graphical leap we where looking for and it never glitches out. Seriously we got pcs for that.

Still trying to justify that spec difference that only adds a little more res or fps, yet you are literally playing the same boring games.

We had these graphics since the ps3 actually. Still nothing close to that unreal 4 announcement.

They all should have went 3tflops like epic said then they could sell us broken games. 3rd parties everywhere would be payed.

Now the question is. Will websites hold these "AAA" publishers accountable or continue to force feed sheepish gamers to settle?

If you cannot see the huge leap forward in graphical fidelity in Unity, then it's time to get your eyes checked followed by learning what HBAO+, soft shadows, texture filtering, and nvidia technologies like hairworks are.

Funny how you claim you had graphics like this on PS3, yet your beloved PS4 doesn't have the power to run the game at the same level of detail as the PC version. Almost every aspect of the game has been dumbed down for consoles. it's sad.

here is what it looks like on my PC @ 3200x1800, all settings Ultra, TXAA.

Looks like the pre-release shots weren't "Bullshots".

Dude I run a quadro x2 I render movie effects almost in real time off those nice nvidia render appliances. That is my point consoles are still weak and this guy is trying to justify the power of the ps4. I bring up the unreal 4 engine because it is about to be used in Vfx now because it needs that much power. Almost 3tflops is not enough.

This is console gaming we need a leap in gameplay because there no way in hell they are going to catch pcs.

We are seeing 24 core cpus and stacked ram and windows booting in 1 min and installing in 15 min. Realistic renders in seconds.

Ubisoft is horribly behind still. I mean even advanced warfare looks better. Even their screen shots are weak.

It's funny you attack the ps4 because I don't own one.... I'm pretty sure your pc run this game fine because it was made for a mid range pc in 2007 just like the video card in the ps4.

"We had these graphics since the ps3 actually. Still nothing close to that unreal 4 announcement. "

Errr...no, actually, no we didn't.
AC Unity is screwed up. Doesn't change the fact that its got some gorgeous visuals. I've played some of the best looking games on ps3 and
1. They aren't that good... The better looking ones are the exclusives - Uncarted 2 for example looked fantastic (as does The Last of Us)
2. They don't really come close to AC Unity. Its lighting is simply fantastic. Besides, for a fair comparison, you have to compare this with multiplats, not exclusives. You can't deny it looks great, every reviewer has mentioned that specifically (before going on to say "BUT then the game screws up in....")

As for the original UE4 announcement. That was on PC, and a pretty beefy one at that. The subsequent PS4 trailer was heavily watered down, and wasn't very impressive to be frank. From what I've seen, AC Unity easily matches that. Not to mention the scene is a lot smaller and lacks the complexity that AC Unity will have at any given point of time.

Leave it to some of the exclusives to blow our minds. Just wait till Uncharted 4...

As a pc gamer who has played on consoles too, I can safely say that AC Unity looks far better than ps3 stuff.
What does really annoy me though is the fact that they've lost so much because of the graphical fidelity. Horrendous pop in. Ludicrous amounts of bugs. Lifeless AI.
Yes, the lighting may be incredible, but it starts to look ugly, and is plain irritating when buildings and characters pop in all the time, when there are tons of graphical glitches.

Reread your last statement. It looks better but we get a far worse game because of it is what I'm reading. I'm so harsh because we keep pushing this tech angle in gaming. Sure I like upgrades but to say this is a leap is laughable. What is next 15fps games again like the last of us just so we can see the future of gaming yet not really play it.

I mean this was fun until everyone started to believe they had to sacrifice the game to show some leap. We use to have a game called crysis on pcs. We brought it up to show what leap frog gaming looked liked and how it played. No one plays crysis it sucks gameplay wise. Even console gamers agreed when it came to consoles.

The problem is not how games look. It is how this "leap" is paraded around to be special. It isn't, so can we now get back to making great game play... even if it means minecraft style graphics.

Sub 30fps is garphical leap yah right....

Damd_Bowsr3475d ago (Edited 3475d ago )

Forget the glitches..., I call BS. If all you care about is graphics then watch movies cause your not a gamer.

N4g_null3475d ago

Too many movie watchers in gaming. These guys don't even know what pcs are capable of. It's like showing a flip phone to an old person and they scream the Jetsons when these phone can do vr and 4k video and our consoles can't.

If you are going to buy tech buy real tech don't be cheap and if you are going to buy games please don't support bad games. Being a fan of a system is cool but really it's all about the game play. You are not escaping anything, it will be there waiting on you when you finish or after you wake up and see the graphical leap doesn't matter what about the damn game!

Yukicore3475d ago (Edited 3475d ago )

Nothing can be forgotten, everything is related. One small issue can poison an entire game.
Oh, and it's not a small issue, performance of a game is the backbone of the game, that and all the other glitches and bugs.

They should have delayed the game and finished it properly, but they wanted to make it before holiday season, I want to see how that turns out for them.

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis551d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde551d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils551d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia551d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack551d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain551d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall551d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast551d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
