All Platforms - AC Unity Current Known Issues

In an update on the publisher's forums, Ubisoft said that "if playing single player, we suggest that you disconnect from your internet connection (wifi or network cable). It could potentially improve frame rate."

Wasn't co-op the main thing about Unity? These developers need to get their sh*t together when releasing these games that depend on internet connection. If it wasn't for my love of far cry 3 I would have Ubisoft on my blacklist for upcoming titles. They really have blown it with these past releases.

-Foxtrot3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

They only did co-op because they needed to a new "gimmick" to make it seem fresh

They did Naval combat for two games (three if you include Rouge) and they couldn't do it again since it wasn't very AC like so the best thing they thought of was co-op

I honestly think this is the main reason why the game is such a mess, every main AC game so far has been solid, they add co-op into this instalment and it ends up being crap...that's not a coincidence.

It's a perfect example of how co-op is not such an easy thing to add in a previously built up single player games as you end up spending too many resources and man power on the feature instead of other, better features, improving current features like the story/stealth mechanics and fixing the bugs/glitches/frame rate issues.

Dudebro903488d ago

The game runs like crap, bur the content in the game is not crap.

Co op is a ron of fun when it works.

You hate on anything popular. Get over it already.

-Foxtrot

You are such a negative nancy. I would think you are just another one riding the hate-ubisoft bandwagon, but, no, you are pretty much negative about everything. It's crazy how negative you are. Do you even like gaming at all?

The game has some glitches with NPC pathfinding, disappearing or appearing suddenly, or moving strangely sometimes, but otherwise has run fine and been trouble free for me. Maybe it is way worse for some people, I can't say. All I know is that your label of "broken mess" does not describe my experience with the game.

-Foxtrot3488d ago

@Dudebro90

Oh is that how it works now..."hate" on anything popular. Get over yourself man, the game runs like shit, don't try and defend Ubisoft.

@starchild

Here's another one, starchild you've been trying to defend this game since people start speaking out against Ubisoft, what's your problem man, what are you getting out of it.

Why are people like yourself fine when a company tries to screw them over. Your the type of people which are the problem in this industry

Silly Mammo3487d ago

I've been playing all week on the PS4 and while there has been occasional framerate slow downs,I haven't run into any game stopping glitches. I've even played 3-4 co-op missions.

Am I just lucky or has this whole thing been blown out of proportion?

We shouldn't have to do anything to improve the frame rate

Ubisoft, its your job as the game developers to make the game the best you possibly can.

threefootwang3488d ago

I heard removing the disc from the console improves FPS significantly

Fairchild Channel F3488d ago

Haha...aha...funny bub +1

On a side note, I didn't buy it and I'm currently having zero issues with it.

Two comments that read blissfully. Thanks guys

Jonny5isalive3488d ago

yeah, play this co-op game offline so it doesnt suck. I guess they needed more time but released it unfinished to make it in time for black friday.

the_dark_one3488d ago

i have another suggestion...... DONT BUY THE GAME.

the guys from ubisoft must be dumb when it comes to PR, i mean they advertise the game with alot of connectivity in mind from co-op to treasure chest that can only be unlocked by the companion app, and then they say to play the bloody game offline? well guess what, it shouldnt be this way if they had just delay the game to polish it up and have some test doing before shipping the game. oh and the glitchs what the hell are they even thinking to believe that game was even ready for the public?

starchild3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

They clearly said that if you are playing "single player" disconnecting from the internet may improve framerates. They are trying to offer suggestions that may help people's experience while playing single player, but that doesn't mean they are saying to ignore the co-op.

I do agree that they should have spent more time making sure the console versions ran better, but aside from occasional glitches with the NPCs I haven't had any issues with the PC version. It runs solidly for me.

Yukicore3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

Well the graphics and content is really great in AC:U. But the performance is what ruins it. And it's a shame, so much work has went to waste because of bad optimization.

Everyone can make food look good on plate, but making it taste right for everyone is the difficult thing.

I Played Assassin’s Creed Unity Almost 10 Years Later. It’s (Kinda) Spectacular

Shaz from GL writes: "Assassin’s Creed Unity is looked at as one of the worst in Ubisoft’s iconic franchise. But playing it nearly 10 years later reveals it may just be the best"

Do the NPCs still randomly levitate every now and then? Even years later I noticed they hadn't patched that out

Honestly I loved the PS4 ACs. I'd love next gen ports of Black Flag, Unity and Syndicate

Why Assassin’s Creed Unity remains one of the best games in the series

GF365: "Since the first Assassin’s Creed game, there have been entries up until now. There are more than a few titles that are far from an ideal stealth game. Let’s discuss why 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity is one of the best games in the series."

Glitchy as hell and flat story, nah this aint it. AC2, brotherhood and 4 were amazing games in every respective

Furesis560d ago

Yeah i would say brotherhood and 4 were the best for me. I have not played the new ones and Unity was my last one. Seems like i made a good choice.

DarXyde560d ago

I gave up after Revelations. Just couldn't bring myself to care anymore and I got burned out of the gameplay.

Definitely agree on 2 and Brotherhood though. Great games.

YourMommySpoils560d ago

A Ubisoft AC game that's not glitchy? That will be the day.

Knightofelemia561d ago

After constant glitches Arno being boring nah I am good I skipped Unity. I will always like the Ezio trilogy, Black Flag, Rogue, Odyssey, Syndicate. I use to love the franchise but now it feels stale and boring. But my list of favorite entries into the franchise will vary from other players favorite entries.

RaidenBlack560d ago

Odyssey is a really well-made RPG game ... but it ain't a proper AC game, even though its part of the lore

ToddlerBrain560d ago

It’s funny because, at launch, it was universally panned for being unplayable. It’s a great game that holds up today. I’m glad they fixed it.

staticall560d ago

The only good things i remember from Unity are pretty graphics and really good descending mechanics (even though it sometimes didn't make much sense, when your character can drop down from like 10 meter height onto a flagpole perfectly).

Game is glitchy to this day, i was playing in it years after the release date (with all the DLCs) and it's still broken. You had to reload missions too often for my taste (characters do not spawn, you fall through the floor, getting stuck in falling/sitting/aiming animation, hidden blade stop working, assassination target running away at the start of the mission). Story was meh, searching for all the treasures wasn't enjoyable at all. Coop was pretty much useless, i've beaten every coop mission in solo. Helix rifts were awful as well.

Not saying i hate this game or anything, but it got too many problems.

Assassin's Creed (i know it's a controversial opinion) and Assassin's Creed 2 are still great to this day.

anast560d ago

Unity was okay. I prefer Syndicate and Origins.
