Happy Birthday PlayStation 3 - Three Years of Exclusives, Blu-ray & Court Orders

As amazing as it may seem given Sony Computer Entertainment's track record with the PlayStation franchise, the PlayStation 3 has undoubtedly been the outside bet for the current-generation since it's launch back in March 2007. Arriving late in Europe, with successful Japanese and North American launches already under its belt, an incredibly high price-tag and it's underdog status has seen the PlayStation 3 achieving slow but consistent growth across the continent in the ensuing three years.

Hey GR8 1 doesn't it speak volums when the PS3 is turning 3 and the 360 is gonna be 5 that the Playstation is only a few million in sales behind xbox... Given the same amount of time out on shelves the Playstation 3 will be far a head of the 360, and currently the only people buying 360's are those who are rebuying it, yes it still counts for sales, but the number of people actually using it isn't growing, but PS3's is, you fail every time you comment to the point that people can't even take any bubbles away from you any more... Take a break from commenting, learn a thing or two, Log on with a new name and try again.

I got my PS3 just after launch and had some great times playing some amazing games. Been one of the best things I have ever bought.
So much has happened in 3 years, can't wait to see what happens in the next 3 years.

Every console has ups and downs during it's lifespan, and the PS3 is no different. But as avengers1978 is saying in the Open Zone (---->), the PS3 launch around eighteen months after the 360 in Europe, and is only just lagging behind. I've got every console in this and most generations, and while I personally prefer the 360 this time around, there's no denying the PS3 is doing some great things... (despite the legal issues!)

And let's not forget - three years into the original Xbox's life and the Xbox 360 was already on shop shelves!

I love my PS3 :)

But then again, I love my Xbox 360 and Wii!!!

Empire: Total War
Virtua Fighter 5
Yakuza 3
Valkyria Chronicles
House of The Dead overkill
Madworld
Yakuza Kenzan

They are not the SEGA we knew alright, but They are doing better than Square Enix, Namco, And other companies no one Bash.

Also, I agree with Panzer Dragoon, But Shenmue should have taken the first!

TheColbertinator5526d ago (Edited 5526d ago )

Panzer Dragoon is a masterpiece especially Orta.

I would have selected Shining Force as well

TOSgamer5526d ago

Shinning Force (The numbered ones, not the crap they put out now)
Shinobi
Skies Of Arcadia
Sonic
Nights

Of course Sega let most of these die or turned them into crap. I also really wish someone would release Shinning Force 3 Part 2 and 3 in the US either as a download or compilation disc.

Sega aren't what they used to be? Well maybe but you could say that platform gaming isn't what it used to be to some extent ever since the concentration moved from 2D to 3D games (even though there have been some great 3D platform games they often very different from the tight ideas and execution in 2D games).

When Sega were creating great games like Virtua Tennis, Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio and releasing them on the Dreamcast, not enough people bought that console.

When they gave away Jet Set Radio Future on the Xbox, many of the Xbox crowd didn't want it.

Super Monkey Ball seemed to be a relative hit, at least on the Cube, but I don't think that Outrun 2 was remembered well enough.

So Sega might also say a lot of videogame players aren't what they used to be.

I recently played a Sega arcade game called 'Let's Play Jungle', released in 2006, which was great fun, if reminiscent of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.

They have a massive presence in the Arcades and name Recognition !!
Why are they so out of it!! they will soon fade if they dont capitalize on these games!!

Sega is or was the "Marvel" of video games..
Meaning Marvel comics.
They have the most influential titles and franchises EVER!!!
if Sony could take them under their wing or Microsoft ??
they could invest in specific Titles and max the hardware out like they used to!!!

SEGA was and IS video Games, now they are a 2 bit dev house that takes low risk !!
Shenmue was Masssive and phenomenal,so was Panzer Dragoon, So was The racing games they made! along with being the only Game system to have a perfect 10 game ever (Soul Calibur)

Why are industry leaders and consumers so fughghking ignorant to this??
Sega is gaming! but where are they??
Yu Suzuki where are your students?????
your team AMx???

The first company to use Polygons now can't even do a descent graphical masterpiece??
Like their last which to me was House of the dead 4 on PS3 like arcade hardware..
Nothing looks this good not even Killzone2..
