Oculus VR 'still going' with Input R&D but 'getting a lot closer'

VRFocus - Despite Oculus VR championing its Crescent Bay prototype of the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) as close to the eventual consumer version of the device the company is yet to share its work on VR input. As the VR community knows, this is a critical factor in ensuring a real sense of presence in VR experience, as standard videogame controllers and a keyboard and mouse simply don't replicate the experience effectively. According to Oculus VR CEO the company is getting 'a lot closer' with its research and development (R&D).

This is very significant. Great news.

shinoff2183151d ago

Is it just that easy? I'm genuinely asking.

Babadook7149d ago (Edited 149d ago )

For a few games it's pretty easy. Just need to apply the mod and settings. For most of them of course you need tinker yourself with settings at the moment but it's not that hard (apparently).

RiseNShine148d ago (Edited 148d ago )

It's as easy or complex as you want, most of the big games like Hogwarts Legacy, Atomic Heart, etc, , hundreds of them (check flatscreen to vr discord) have some profiles already made, so you just load them and it automatically sets the best settings others modders have already found, so it's a matter of minutes, but of course you can tinker for hours to make it suit your needs.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7386d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt387d ago (Edited 387d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal387d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow387d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal387d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt386d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.
