Lords of the Fallen PC/PS4 Graphics Comparison

PS4 comes quite close, but PC is the clear winner (provided a high-end configuration).

A valiant effort by PS4, but the raw power of a high-end PC shows.

nucky643485d ago

agreed - ps4 can't match a high-end pc at all. but I think ps4 is still the overall winner due to the exclusives.

Fireseed3485d ago

And PC exclusives are just chopped liver I suppose then?

Big_Game_Hunters3485d ago (Edited 3485d ago )

Maybe in your opinion but objectively you are wrong

The picture is the proof.

Alexious3485d ago

Actually right now PS4 exclusives aren't that great.

But they will be, once Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog finally release something.

MadLad3485d ago

Some of you really just can't give credit and then let it go, eh?

Firstly, this is an article about graphics. Nobody asked you your opinions on the PS4's library.
Also, the exclusives library you brought into question is almost non-existent at this point to boot.

Future_20153484d ago

You lot keep saying the word exclusive. What about it? PC has like 10 times or more exclusives out every month compared to what consoles get in a year

Craving for blood are we?

yes, but for the first time when i play on my PS4, i dont see too much difference to my PC like other Generations. 1080p is a nice resolution. Standard.
More resolution than that is really hard to tell in small TV or monitors. I mean, 4K, 5K, 8K... by now.

Imp0ssibl33485d ago

This is just the beginning of the generation...In 2-3 years, the difference will be much bigger.

nX3484d ago

^In 2-3 years PS4 also has games from Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Media Molecule, From Software, Quantic Dream and many others that you can't find on PC... meanwhile, PC's that outclass the PS4 will cost you 3x as much.

thehobbyist3484d ago (Edited 3484d ago )

That's wrong. It's easier to see more resolution in smaller displays. A 24-in 4K display will remove the need for AA in games because the pixel density makes everything look smooth(If the machine is running the game in 4K obviously).

claudionmc3484d ago

@thehobbyist I wasn't answering this thread but you are so wrong that it gave me eyes cancer... You don't see any difference between 1080 2xAA and 4k no AA in a 24-in display...

With that display area, you cannot even see the difference between 1080p 2xAA and 1080p 4x AA in a normal view distance from the display. And it doesn't make everything look smooth, it makes everything look clear. I think you should go to a store and see it by yourself.

Looking at these screens they look almost identical if not identical. I guess anything to justify spending thousands on your gaming PC to feel better about your purchase.

frelyler3485d ago

I spent $650 and my machine plays everything at max settings except for Crysis 3 at better than 40 fps. People really need to stop pretending like pc gaming is too expensive. If you know what you are doing a decent cheap build is attainable.

user56695103484d ago (Edited 3484d ago )

wait so its ok the argue over a difference between 900p and 1080p but its identical between ps4 version and pc version, but with not only the nvidia exclusive feature and other effects consoles cant handle, but better aa, shader, filters, draw distance, textures, better physics, lighting, gfx effect, and that not even at 4k where these shine better. the use the its better in motion for ps4 games which we told them last gen when it comes to some gfx effects but somehow its moot when pc comes into play. i also like that fanboys act like 900p vs 1080p is a huge gap but 4k which is 4x 1080p is not significant.

these the same people that said they dont see the gap last gen but say thing like far cry 4 looks amazing. lmao it looks just like far cry 3 with deeper colors. tomb raider and metro looks amazing. you do know metro came out a long time ago and they tweek it a lil and tomb raider is a straight port with different lora model right.

they go only thing pc have is higher res it doesnt make a difference, when we all know it has way more advanges than that. then tlou ps4 1080p@60fps it look amazing completely different lmao. the contradictions never stop with ps fanboys.

we had games last gen that look like yall next gen games, but suddenly now you see the difference when its on ps4. we re doing the same thing again and like before fanboys are denying it like last gen, and as tech moves forward and console CONTINUE to be left behind with new gfx features the gap will only get bigger while at 4x 1080p(4K).

i guess sony fanboys will say anything to make them feel good about their purchase. quick lets mention price and exclusives when we know this is about gfx and tech. too late

ramiuk13485d ago

almost 3 times the price surely its expected?

PrinterMan3484d ago

PC running a i7 3770 and GTX 780Ti; Crap the video card alone is more than I paid for my PS4! It should be a LOT better then. Wow, meaningless comparison.

s8anicslayer3484d ago

Let us not forget that the PS4 is doing pretty well in comparison, especially when it's being compared to a rig that costs about 4X more than its sticker price...can't expect a mustang to do Ferrari type performance unless you put a lot more money into the mustang. Something you can't do to a PS4.

LavaLampGoo3485d ago

It does still look good on both, but as always, the PC does outrank the console. The main difference I can see is the backgrounds are less focused on the PS4 version.

MisterMarston3485d ago

I think in these situations a PC will always come top. Were it not for the social "get your mates around on the sofa for a pizza and games" aspect of gaming, I think consoles would have died a while ago and everyone would be engineered towards PC gaming.

Alexious3485d ago

It's not just that, but also PC gaming comes on top simply because it costs a lot more. Even here, PS4 is the winner in terms of price/quality, there's no $/€ 399 PC that will give you that graphics.

Still, as a hardcore gamer I can't help but try to get the best version of any game and that is absolutely the PC one in almost every case, with the proper hardware.

Imp0ssibl33485d ago

Me too. Which reminds me that I need to upgrade my PC..

MarkusMcNugen3484d ago

"Even here, PS4 is the winner in terms of price/quality, there's no $/€ 399 PC that will give you that graphics. "

True, but there is a $399 or less graphics card that will. Any desktop with Core i5 or better should be fine for almost all PC games. It's mainly the GPU that's holding peoples desktops back.

Still, as an overall package you are right.

thehobbyist3484d ago

Scroll down this list. Look at the "Next-Gen crusher" build.

For less than the cost of an Xbone you can have a PC that out-performs PS4

Bigpappy3485d ago

Consoles are way more convenient and cost friendly. No upgrades or installation issues to be concerned with. You also have it sitting in the living room out of the way, and dedicated only to entertainment. You pickup the controller, hit a button and you are gaming.

In short, power is not the only factor that determines why people choose a certain platform to game on, and console will continue to co-exist with PC until they become the same thing, which they are not.

uth113485d ago

exactly, this is something that the "but PC haz better graffix" crowd doesn't understand. The consoles have great graphics and not all of us get bent out of shape if somebody somewhere might be getting better, but marginally perceptable graphics than us.

Not only do consoles have less frequent game-blocking issues, but when they do, the onus is on the publisher to fix them. To often when I game on the PC, I'm left having to fix the issues myself, and lose valuable time to researching them when all I wanted to do was play a game!

MarkusMcNugen3484d ago

The main issue is that since PCs are dynamic and upgrade their hardware they will outpace consoles considerably before the next generation. This often times leads to multiplats being gimped or the power of high-end PCs under utilized.

Consoles are great for what they specialize in, considering price and availability.

thehobbyist3484d ago

There's no installation issues on PC. I buy a game on Steam. Once it's done downloading I can play.

Unless you're talking about hardware installation. Which isn't an issue either. To install a new GPU you just take out the old one and put the new one in it's place. It's as easy as legos. Then you download and/or update the card's drivers.

ccgr3485d ago

own both but nod always goes to PC

kaiserfranz3485d ago

Mine too, but I admit I use the DualShock 4 most of the time!

R-A-S-03485d ago

Yeah the DS4 is a great PC controller. The best imo, because of the touchpad

Bladesfist3484d ago

You can use the touchpad on PC now?

Aurenar3485d ago

Comparisons without history and with only one winner.
