War Thunder Misses Best Online Game at Golden Joystick Awards

VRFocus - Gaijin Entertainment’s free-to-play VR compatible combat title War Thunder has missed out on the Best Online Game, which was instead awarded to Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

a cool game. definitely tickles some old school dogfighting nostalgia nerve somewhere... but, that effin destiny of mordor.

I think what makes it lack the dogfighting intensity is that the flight controls are so goddamn counterintuitive that it's frustrating. I hated the mouse-style control that was set to default on the Ps4 version. And no matter how many times a messed around with the control setup wizard, something was always off when I played. I really want to love War Thunder, but the controls prevent me from enjoying it.

Not sure why they couldn't have figured out a typical flight sim control scheme for this game :-/

You can change the controls to a more conventional setup in the options (I did). I love the game and don't really understand your problem.

Wt its an ok game not that great. It copies wot and does t worst. Wot kicks this game ass anytime. Can't wait for wot on ps4 or x1.

I prefer WT for tanks than WOT and I have a 8,8 cm Pak 43 Jagdtiger in WOT. I feel WOT is more arcade than WT. Plus if you have a lag death in WT, you have more tanks to come back.

War Thunder is built around and based on two previous realistic WW2 Plane shooters /dogt fighting games.

- Invisible and disappearing tanks at 100m
- Tanks with health bar.
- Weak spot penetration with zero damage.
- All tanks has the same rubbish gun sound.
- WOT uses a an outdated game engine only supports dualcore.

I enjoyed this game, but after the alpha, my PC can't run it no more, and the PS4 version is great. But as any other F2P, the pay to win gets me everytime. It was fun while I played it though.

It is not pay to win, it might make you advance quicker, but you get no bonuses over regular joes.

EDIT: WOT has more of a pay to win because you can buy gold rounds.........

You can advance in upgrades, planes, pilots and gunners levels(forgot how it was called), that's is pay to win. If the games has an element of upgrades via real money, its pay to win, its not just cosmetic.

But there's nothing you can pay for that you can't get by working through the game, so its not a 'pay to win' title.
