Indie Stash Cast – Ko-Op Mode Talks Experimental Games, Indie Game Initiatives, and GNOG

Blane talks to Saleem Dabbous from Ko-Op Mode about their experimental approach to game design, how their studio functions, and their upcoming game GNOG.

Rather than functioning like a traditional studio where the entire team is working on completing a game, Ko-Op Mode members are each working on their own unique games and can help other team members as needed. Some examples of Ko-Op’s experimental game design philosophy can be seen in Please Don’t, Space Dog, a convention exclusive game where players use a MIDI sound board and an Oculus Rift to pilot a shuttle in space, and GNOG, a game that has players solving puzzles inside the “Gnoggins” of monsters.

Its puzzles consistently capture the satisfaction of fitting a square peg in a square hole without much challenge to speak of. It is, put simply, one hell of a chill time.
