Nvidia GeForce 344.48 WHQL Driver Now Available to Download

Maximum PC: Nvidia today made available its "Game Ready" GeForce 344.48 WHQL driver, which among other things brings support for Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) to desktop graphics cards based on the company's Kepler and Fermi architectures. DSR is a featured that was rolled out with Nvidia's Maxwell launch, and what it does is render games at a higher, more detail resolution and then shrinks them down to the resolution of your monitor.

Consoles are closed systems that allow programming to the mettle and great optimization to squeeze all the power out of those single use systems.

pc are multitasking machines that allow for gaming and other task to be done simultaneously and once games are released these driver updates by Nvidia and AMD allow great improvement in the game code to get better performance on your Pc.

Not to the mettle because so many unique configurations but improved framerates

Pretty much, which people just don't realize.

OT I just downloaded this driver :D

it this update for desktop or mobile ? ha i see they have the mobile one as well..... great time to test this out

I'm glad it's out. Time to put this Dynamic Super Resolution through its paces. It's nice that it works on any game. If it really is an improvement over regular downsampling, which I already use (and is one of the reasons I prefer Nvidia cards lately), then it's going to be a great tool for PC gamers to get better quality out of our games. It basically gives you superior anti-aliasing similar to SSAA as an optioin in every single game.

I'm confused, going from the description isn't this new 'DSR' just SuperSampling renamed or am I totally off the mark?

starchild3483d ago (Edited 3483d ago )

Not exactly. SSAA targets edges more specifically than downsampling by using a grid pattern and the same reference points as MSAA. Downsampling merely renders the entire image at a higher resolution then downsamples it to your display's native resolution. But unfortunately SSAA, similar to MSAA, doesn't work with a lot of modern games that use deferred rendering. Most directX10 and directx11 games are incompatible with SSAA if you try to force it at the driver level.

For these kinds of games I have been using downsampling combined with post-process anti-aliasing methods like TXAA, FXAA or SMAA. The downsampling cleans up the image somewhat by itself, but it doesn't do a totally adequate job of smoothing off all edge aliasing. So by using the post-process anti-aliasing in conjunction with downsampling it gives very nice results. The downsampling also minimizes the blur that is usually associated with these kinds of post-process AA methods.

Asus Launching GTX 970 Turbo

Asus went ahead and teased an odd looking GTX 970 yesterday dubbed as GTX 970 Turbo. The information we had at the time of the news was scarce. We were just presented a photo showing that the new GTX 970 will be having a white and red shroud along with a blower style cooler. Apparently, we have more information today and to our surprise, the GPU is just like any other GTX 970 available in market. The only difference we see here are the aesthetics.

It actually looks pretty nice imo. I got myself a Gigabyte 970 G1 back in feb (from my old 580 pictures with it below) and have never been happier with a purchase. http://i.imgur.com/pBuOd5g....

The more models available the better, competition is generally always healthy for the consumer. Good to see :)

Here’s Your First Look at Asus GTX 970 Turbo

Seems like Asus is on the roll. After announcing the GTX 980 20th Anniversary Gold Edition yesterday; the company’s back with another GPU that is dubbed as Asus GTX 970 Turbo. The GPU comes with a design that is quite close to the reference design and the entire shroud is white along with accents of red. As for the cooling; the card is using the blower type cooling design, the PCB itself look short.

Wow the green Team going White and Red

NuggetsOfGod3322d ago (Edited 3322d ago )

Looks cool!

If nvidia cards soon work with amd cards then why not.

Jdoki3322d ago

Interesting that they've just gone with a reference design.

I went with an Asus 980 Strix, and that thing is ridiculously good. Fans don't even turn on until it hits 67degrees C. And it overclocks very nicely. I would definitely have bought a white / red edition if they offered it. :)

mixelon3322d ago

I have the 970 Strix. Really love the card, same thing with the fans, its pretty awesome. :D

megatron007333322d ago

I heard that Gigabyte G1 Gaming Edition is the best one.

mixelon3322d ago

@megatron00733 - I think it depends what you're after.. The Strix doesn't overclock as far as some but it has great cooling/silence, also only has 1 power connector on the card instead of the usual 2.

Varmint3322d ago

"Seems like Asus is on the roll."

"There are no details yet"

I mean, it's another blower-cooled 970 variant with no information on how it's clocked or whether it has anything exciting/different under the hood. Why bother making an article before there's some actual information on how the specs of this thing differ from other 970s?

mixelon3322d ago

I guess a roll of releasing notably decent+ stuff, not a roll of releasing notably amazing stuff?

Moldiver3322d ago

That casing looks sexy! Matches my NZXT phantom case perfectly! My whole PC is white red except my black and gold gigabyte MOBO and my black and gold enermax 1200W PSU.

megatron007333322d ago

I always doubt Nvidia will do anything good :)

Benchmarks: GTX Titan X in SLI

PCgamer:

We’re an insatiable lot, us PC gamers. Nvidia gives us the fastest GPU that’s ever been produced and what’s my response? 'What happens if I strap two together?'
