Heavenly Sword Used by Peter Jackson to Demonstrate Performance Capture to James Cameron

Today Ninja Theory released a video of Hellblade Director Tameem Antoniades' talk at DICE 2014, and he dropped a very interesting detail about the old and glorious Heavenly Sword, a sequel of which many would still like to see.

PLEASE GIVE US A SEQUEL PLEEEEAAASSEEEEEE!!

1nsomniac3491d ago (Edited 3491d ago )

The game was so underrated. A sequel would be amazing if they could keep it to the same standard.

One of those games that I just bought on the off chance as I seen it in the essential collection in a shop for £12 & it was one of the biggest surprises I've ever had in my 30 years of gaming.

colonel1793491d ago

The game was absolutely amazing and gorgeous. It had if flaws, of course, but nothing major and nothing that couldn't be fixed in sequel. Just look how impressive they improved Uncharted in Uncharted 2. The same could be done to Heavenly Sword.

Sony should get a deal with Ninja Theory, or give the IP to Santa Monica and start working with it. That game alone, it's much worth it than the majority that do get two or more sequels.

hkgamer3491d ago

i dont think it was underrated too much. i loved it and thought it was pretty decent. others complained about the length of time it took to complete the game.

it just came out at the time that games couldnt be that short.

alstruck3491d ago

Well, there's Hellblade coming out soon..

medman3490d ago

This^^^^
Hellblade is definitely on my radar.

himdeel3490d ago

Reviewers trashed the game for its length when it was released but it is a good game. The combat can be simple but allows folks with a bit more manual dexterity to get quite technical with the combat. This is a game that deserves a proper sequel on ps4.

CocoWolfie3491d ago

i can actually use this news for my university project ^3^ ty n4g <3

Abriael3491d ago (Edited 3491d ago )

You're welcome :D

If it helps Andy Serkis (Gollum) was Dramatic Director for the game, and played King Bohan.

hkgamer3491d ago

i thought king bohan was the gollum.

i did think andy serkis performance was brilliant in heavenly sword. but all i could think about was gollum and i don't nomrally notice these things that much.

WeAreLegion3491d ago (Edited 3491d ago )

Andy Serkis did a fantastic job directing those scenes. It's a shame the movie was so bad. :/

e-p-ayeaH3491d ago

yeah it barely as that great directing in it.

loganbdh3491d ago

Tameem Antoniades... I only know that name because he ruined dante by making him look more like himself and of course ruining my most beloved hack and slash games.

Snookies123491d ago (Edited 3491d ago )

I have an extreme dislike for him as well, not for the Dante thing per se. Just the way he treated fans of the franchise.

e-p-ayeaH3491d ago (Edited 3491d ago )

Heavenly Sword PS4 remaster would be a great option to revive this IP because this game really as some great characters and art direction not to mention the cool combat mechanics.

edit: Playing H.Sword with DS4 feels great you guys should try it out.

It is a good studio.. i really enjoyed their dmc game that i platinumed it.
I did not try hellblade, because it doesnt tell me much.. Enslaved was very mehhh
Heavenly Sword was good not great. Amazing graphics back in the day but so repetitive and not so engaging in the long run.

stoney10134d ago

I really enjoyed Enslaved and Heavenly Sword back in the day. Wish they'd return to that sort of game. Hellblade isn't really for me to be honest. Not saying it's not a good game, I just couldn't get into it.

Popsicle34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

That is fair. I enjoyed Hellblade but can definitely see how it isn’t for everyone.

Would like to see how Heavenly Sword would have turned out if developed today. It’s easy to forget that games like Heavenly Sword were unprecedented and in their infancy.

shinoff218333d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Enslaved has been their favorite game for me. Loved the atmosphere.

1nsomniac34d ago

Heavenly sword was a staggeringly good game!! One of the most memorable of the PS3 generation in my opinion.

Babadook733d ago (Edited 33d ago )

Heavenly sword was good. It had ambitious graphics and as a result the frame rate suffered and as a result the gameplay suffered. But the story was phenomenal. Great acting, especially Andy Serkis as the king.

Jingsing34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

"Microsoft" we all read between the lines. We have seen the exact same thing happen with many of their other acquisitions

InUrFoxHole33d ago

Jesus man! Try reading the article at least.

cthulhucultist34d ago

One thing that pleasantly surprised me, was the Switch port, as back then it was my only console. The graphics were amazing and the artistic design helped a lot to enhance the visuals.I took some really impressive screen shots while playing which I still revisit them from time to time to remind me what a capable developer (QLOC) can achieve with weaker hardware.

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro65d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7265d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

_SilverHawk_65d ago

resistance 1-3, killzone 1-3, uncharted 1-3, uncharted golden abyss, folklore, socom 4 , motorstorm, twisted metal, MAG, heavenly sword

Cacabunga64d ago

Killzone 2+3
Sly Thieves in Time
Crack in Time
God of War Ascension
Motorstorm
Modnation racer
Infamous 1+2

Profchaos64d ago (Edited 64d ago )

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2364d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Iceball200065d ago

YEAAASSSSS! I miss this franchise and wanna play it so bad again.

Father__Merrin65d ago

The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer

InUrFoxHole65d ago

The resistance series is str8 trash to me. Socom 3 I would welcome. Or killzone MP.

Marcus Fenix65d ago

A Resistance reboot will be awesome

Michiel198965d ago

That's what Bungie should make, Ill keep saying it until it happens

1Victor65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱

Michiel198965d ago

Resistance was the best co-op fps I ever played after L4D2
