Having traveled to London for an exclusive chat with Dying Light’s Lead Game Designer, Maciej Binkowski, we were treated to the opportunity to find out more about the anticipated zombie survival game.

After spending some time playing Techland’s spiritual successor to the flawed-but-fun Dead Island, one of the main questions that had us scratching our heads was what to expect from the much-publicized day and night cycles. Dying Light’s zombies are slow and uncoordinated, allowing the player to take advantage and get the drop on them via an elaborate parkour system.

However, the ball placed in the undead’s court once night falls, as the zombies become faster, more intelligent, and are backed up by so-called ‘Volatile’ compadres. These zombies are much tougher and faster than their slower cousins, chasing the player across the rooftops that previously acted as the setting’s safest haven.
