12 Video Games Marketed Entirely On Boobs

WC: These 12 video games, whether inherently sexual in tone or simply sexed up because it sells, were marketed almost entirely on mammary glands and little else, because predictably, when you’ve run out of good things to say about your game, “it’s got boobs in it!” is about as enticing as you can get.

Ok, 3 things flawed with the article:
1. Misoginy is a hate or dislike of women, liking boobs is kind of contradicting to this stupid label that nobody knows how to use correctly these days it seems.
2. Catherine is not marketed entirely on boobs, it is entirely marketed on great writing, and its writing is great. It connects, it stays within the rules that the writer established, it has the effects of surprise. Anything else is subjective philosophizing. Maybe the author should take some time to survey the points most often made by the general gaming community when recommending it. Pro-tip: it isn't boobs.
3. Bayonetta for an imaginary character, has more character than most feminists do, which is hilarious. The game has pretty damn great gameplay. She is also strong and not a weak character, so anyone arguing that she is simply a sexed up character without any other merits is either sexually insecure or intentionally offended for the sake of being offended. Also her back and legs are more of a sell than boobs, if you want to go into fetish details.

I don't know what you're into (your name IS nippletwister after all lol) but i don't know anyone who finds a back as attractive as boobs

The more boobs the btr I say

xer03487d ago (Edited 3487d ago )

Some guys or girls like both.
I like a handful of boobs and ass... go figure :/

I'm so pleased Kojima didn't take those critiques about, 'Silent' on board because I love his games for great game play and art.

However, I'm looking forward to staring at, 'Silents' boobs and ass, in between missions.

I'm a red blooded male and a gamer.. and I'm proud of it!

1. Misogyny is also reflected in sexual objetification of women, so it's correctly used in the article if you take it into its appropiate context.

2. The marketing for Catherine was definitely sexualized for the most part. Same goes for Bayonetta. You're mixing the tone of the advertising of the games, with the contents of the games themselves, despite the clear differentiation between the two in the article itself.

I think you missed the point a bit here.

nippletwister3487d ago

Sexual objectification would imply a character stripped of humanity, while both Bayonetta and Catherine have their own characters and human elements.
Whether someone will like those elements or not, or whether they will find them appealing or not, is a matter of subjective opinion and not some tinfoil interpretation of "misogyny". One could even call this slut shaming because you focus on the boobs but not on the well done writing behind them, and deny the character's substance beyond the aesthetics in order to interpret sexism and whatever. [Then again, video game characters don't represent anything and are a bunch of codes that are pretty much objects].

The article can differentiate all it wants, if you start with such a direct and specific title, i don't give a damn what backtracking is done in the text.

"2. The marketing for Catherine was definitely sexualized for the most part"

Tell me if this Catherine ads full with boobs or sex:
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Obviously you never play Catherine or see how Atlus advertise it. So please don't speak for game you never play and don't know anything about it.

And no, Bayonetta isn't the same either. Aside of her sexy design but also elegant, Sega / P* Games never focused too much on her sexuality. A lot of Bayonetta ads focused on how fast paced and over the top action style compare to showing her sexuality.

DVAcme3487d ago

I agree wholeheartedly on Catherine. Anyone who's played the game for any length of time can tell you that Catherine's hypersexuality is NOT portrayed as fan service, but more as sexual predation and horror. It's a game where the main character, who is a man, is REPEATEDLY RAPED, and the woman doing it is trapping him in a cycle of destruction while distancing him from his true love, a woman who is attractive but not sexualized and is responsible, hardworking and truly good relationship material. If the game really was all about the fanservice, then Vincent would be able to dump his girlfriend for Catherine with no negative consequences, like the scumbag protagonists of many a hentai game can.

Lollipop chainsaw now a remaster not a remake

At fans request apparently.

gold_drake198d ago

i wonder if they looked into what a remake would cost and went "NOPE Remaster it is" haha

FreeckyCake197d ago

It probably has to do with what the producer had mentioned recently. The thing about not wanting to change the essence of the original (e.g censorship). So maybe remastering the game was the best choice.

CrimsonWing69197d ago

The link to the story didn’t really answer the question. It makes no sense that you have to censor a remake and not a remaster.

What I got from that article is licensed music forced them to change to a Remake(?) and that they’re working hard with the platform holders to negotiate not censoring, which Sony is stupid about.

My question is, how would a Remaster not have to go through censorship?

I’ve seen dialogue changed in FF7 and Baten Kaitos. Then you have actual cutscenes being removed like in the dmc remaster.

I assume the same could be done to this game.

FreeckyCake197d ago

No idea. That's why I said " maybe ".

CrimsonWing69197d ago

Bull sh*t, you show me where fans wanted a Remaster instead of a Remake. I was more onboard with a Remake, I’m less excited just playing the same game I did before but now with sharper textures and better framerate.

ModsDoBetter197d ago

Probably realised this won't do the numbers so didn't want to invest.

No harm, I love Lollipop Chainsaw but it's a bit of a niche title.

gold_drake197d ago

yeh it was super niche even bk then

LoveSpuds196d ago (Edited 196d ago )

Loved it back in the day and have my copy sat on the shelf and ypu are right, it was super niche, which is why my copy is increasing in value slowly but surely. Hoping a remaster doesn't tank the value of my PS3 copy
