Top 5 Most Unlikable Characters

A sad fact about life is that not everyone gets along, and occasionally a person will simply rub you the wrong way. Well, the same thing happens in video games. Certain characters just annoy us to no end.

I'd have to say Lang from Conflict: Denied Ops comes in at first. He beats out his partner Graves by a straw. (Such awful characters from an equally awful game.)

There's Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. (She can't keep up with Sonic in coop mode...)

There's Quina from FF9. (Annoyingly stupid)

There's Raiden from MGS2. (He had to be androgynous and not so slick like Solid.)

And there's Desmond Miles from Assassin's Creed. (A bartender with a squeaky voice for our protagonist?)

This list could go on.

Alexander Roy5808d ago

I remember never leveling Quina because he/she was a dumb **** and then the team splits and I have to fight a boss with him. Boy was I f'cked. But in retrospective, he had some borderline funny lines.

Shadow Flare5808d ago

lol Tails is a guy Bandito. Raiden more then made up for it in MGS4 though

e-ray5807d ago

No spoilers for MGS4 god damnit!

I can think of some more unlikeable characters, but this was pretty entertaining. Kudos on the Duck Hunt Dog. Who has ever played that game who hasn't intentionally spent a round or two on that annoying, laughing dog? :)

By the way el bandito, Tails was a boy. His name is Miles.

el_bandito5808d ago

Thanks for correcting me. Yup Miles Prower is a he. Sorry guys.

ThatArtGuy5808d ago

You can blast the dog to Hades in the bonus round.

Funny how the article is from MSNBC and 4 out of 5 of them are from games on Nintendo consoles (Ocarina Of Time, Starfox, Resident Evil 4 - first on NGC - and Duck Hunt)...

That being said:
HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY HEY

Navi = Worst support character ever

TruthbeTold5808d ago

It's true that Navi was annoying, but the truth for me at least was that I've played that game from start to finish at least 10 times. Somehow, I don't think that it was anywhere near as annoying the first time through the game, when I didn't know everything and it was actually helpful now and then. Of course on your third time or so through the game you wish it would just shut the hell up, but without it, that first time through might not have hooked us. Know what I mean?

Alexander Roy5808d ago

True man. I remember locking-on on every thing and hitting C-Up like a madman to find out about the weakspots of the enemies or to get a hint. The only problem is that Nintendo didn't implement a memory-like thingy for her, so that she remembers if I already asked her about something. With that, she wouldn't have been as annoying. Still, OoT is a masterpiece and although Navi gets annoying after several hours, it will be remembered for a very long time - I mean come on, it's about 10 years old and still the game with the highest metascore of all time. I want to encourage everyone who hasn't played it to do it now, it's great even with all the HEY HEY HEY.

KLEPTOMANIAC5808d ago

i died a little inside everytime she kept saying HEY.. or LISTEN!! even when you've listened to what she had to say, she would still have to say it again and again.

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast4d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk4d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast4d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk4d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac4d ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk4d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
