1UP Previews: UFC 2009 Undisputed

You don't have to be a geometry pro to know that stepping into the Ultimate Fighting Championship's octagon will leave you in pretty bad shape. Luckily, publisher THQ is making the UFC virtually painless -- the company just announced UFC 2009 Undisputed for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Not to argue but who cares, back then UFC on DreamCast looked AWEsome but its gameplay mechanics were flawfully boring in the end.

I just hope this game get some serious competitive gameplay mechanics, and not talking about specials moves or cheap combo sh*t, a game where MixUp is key to victory.

They can delay this game for 2 years and I wouldn't care because I want this game to be the FNR3 of UFC games. They gotta make it just like the UFC realistically.

Man what a step down from the trailer we've all come to want out of next gen visuals. Let down, but still probably worthy of a buy. Still looks alright, just not like we thought.

In my mind MMA is a very complex sport and making a controler do something like "shoot" for a single leg take down will be very hard im sure...

if the controls work well and the fighters do have there own style its a HUGE game. If its online it would be that much bigger

I have doubts that they can pull this off. Boxing is one thing but MMA is far more complicated and to really catch a sense of the sport the controls would probably have to be pretty complex.

It would be nice if the fighters did have thier own style. If you trained primarily in standup maybe you dont have as many options on the ground, but every once in a while if the conditions are right a submission like an armbar would present itself.

On the other hand if your primarily a submissions expert then your standup game should be weaker, with not as many strikes or as hard of strikes, but even then you should be able to catch someone in just the right time.

A ground an pounder should have good striking and takedowns but overall submissions shouldnt be quite as high...maybe good at the rear naked choke as the guys turn away from the round and pound though.

When your a submission expert you should have all kinds of submissions available but they should change as the position of your opponet changes.

Anyway, this is not just a stand up punching sport, its often more jujitsu, wrestlying and I dont know how you effectivly turn that into a video game but we will see. I wish them well and WILL buy it, if its any good at all......but at this point I am not expecting to buy it as I think it will suck.

I totally agree with you man! I m a huge fan of the UFC but really dread the day the game is finally released!

When I hear things like:"the game will feature over 80 fighters" I know that at least 50 of those fighters will have the exact same fighting style and body language.

It's impossible to create a fighting game that has so many fighting elements in it but also to exactly replicate or create all the moves from the UFC fighters.

Fight Night 3 was great but that's a whole different ball game for sure.

Nice, finally an in-game shots. Hopefully the gameplay footage that's gonna be shown on GTTV tonight is gonna be as stunning as these screens which look a bit too good to be true.

I just watch the trailer and it looks amazing to me, best fluid animations I've seen in any game, and you can they're realtime gameplay because when character got hit they load the rag doll reactor animations, and the grounded knee animation had a slight delay like if it had been timed lately.

I hope this get to be the final product and not another static animated sports game with flawly meachanics.

I saw other trailer that was true in-game, and its not even gets close to the video featuring Iceman. The animation are like other sports games, not that fluid at all, but still looks ok.

1st disappointment but still looking toward its gameplay.
