10 Video Games That Were Scored Way Too Highly On Release

WC: "It’s one thing to talk about how a game can come to be known as being ‘overrated‘, but most of the time when we do so we’re talking about general fan fervour and cultural reception – just try saying Ocarina of Time hasn’t aged well, for example.

But what of the titles that review so incredibly highly in the first place? With other respected artforms like film and music, chances are after you’ve spent time with a given property for a few months you’re going to have a different opinion on it than when you first started – and this is also true of games."

Did they actually put Shadow of the Colossuss ? Really ?

Magicite3527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

Almost any big xbox exclusive has paid reviews.

darthv723527d ago (Edited 3527d ago )

If by paid you mean reviewers who buy their copy to review...yes there are some who do that.

not everyone gets a copy for free.

Almost all proven IPs with a name brand are overrated like the GTAs, zeldas, games like that

I strongly disagree with Killzone 2 being there, That game got about 90-89% scores, I think that was pretty fair, game was pretty darn good.

I totally agree with Final Fantasy XIII being there, that game got 90% and above just for being called Final Fantasy, that game was a piece of shit, that should be like a 60%.

GTA IV was a good game but not worthy of the pure 100% it was getting, it wasn't even in GTA III's league in my opinion.

Just about every Halo game after the first one was way overrated just because the game was called Halo.

dasbeer883526d ago

Call of Duty games after 4 were given exceeded scores.

Watch Dogs and Destiny did not score higher then deserved. They both got average scores, general consensus is they are average games.

And Killzone 2 was a great game, why is it a downgrade to keep the game running is cause for giving the game a 3 out of 10?

As soon as I saw Shadow of the Colossus, I closed the article

That game was magical, few games capture that same kind of atmosphere.

FF13 is not perfect but I think is very well made and easily deserves around an 8-9

Exies73527d ago

FF13 was a huge departure from the actual FF franchise, and that made a lot of people angry. Like The Hulk, but without muscles, being green, etc.

Loved the answer, bubble to you.

knickstr3526d ago

Final fantasy 13 is easily the weakest in the series in my opinion. Way to linear and the story just didn't live up to others.

Inception3526d ago

Nah. Like godmars said: seven at best. If it's a new IP than i can understand an eight or nine.
