Nerdswole: Final Fantasy has been around a long time. A looooong time. They’ve changed and adapted over the years, but one constant and really their place in history, has always been their stories. The stories of Final Fantasy characters are epic, tragic, dynamic, and uplifting. A few of these stories had some pretty spectacular plot twists and shocking moments, and if you’ve played these games, I’m sure your list looks a lot like mine, maybe with a couple rearranged.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

At least it's not a 'click to see the next one' site.
And I agree with all of these. There are many shocking FF moments.
Kefka winning will always be over mommy problems Seph and the only good FF7 character. When I was a kid I was completely shocked by that event, I thought I had screwed up my FF3(6). The "shocking" ff7 death was extremely predictable since she was the only good character who had a goal. Cloud and his terrorist buddies just didn't jive with me.
I think that X's ending shocked me the most because I was expecting them to find a way to keep Tidus alive.
The Most Shocking Final Fantasy Moment''
The fusion Square soft for Square enix.
My first final fantasy shocking moment was in ff4 when the twins who's names I can't remember sacrifice themselves by turning into stone to keep the walls from crushing the rest of the group. But the moment is ruined when you beat the game and they are back to life. As a kid though that was my first main character "death" in a video game.
