Game Informer: Little League World Series Baseball 2008 Preview

Activision's Little League World Series Baseball 2008 aims to bring Little League to living rooms everywhere, or at least in living rooms that are outfitted with a Wii. And with more than 70 million viewers tuning in to watch last year's championship worldwide-broadcast on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 here in the states-it's probably safe to say that there's a pretty hefty built-in audience for that kind of experience.

What GameZone loved about Little League World Series Baseball 2008 is that the games are short enough (6 innings, true to Little League) and fun enough that you can pick this game up and play it time and time again. There are also a variety of modes and unlockable awards that will keep you entertained and provide incentive to kick some Little League butt for a long time to come.

Little League World Series Baseball 2008 has a lot to offer in terms of depth - you'll never play the same game twice, and that keeps things fresh. There are plenty of modes to keep you interested, including Exhibition, World Series, Home Run Derby, and even a baseball-themed Bowling game. Little League World Series Baseball has its moments of greatness, but it is often plagued by gameplay issues that obscure its full potential.

"Let's face it; baseball games are almost non-existent on the Wii and after the abysmal and ugly Backyard Baseball game and the boring "The BIGS", my expectations for this game weren't that high. Surprisingly, Little League World Series Baseball 2008 is a very cool game that not only feels different but also puts the pressure on future baseball games on the Wii, even if it has this kiddie look. Little League World Series Baseball 2008 achieved something that only a small bunch of Wii games has done: put a smile on my face."
