Few software titles from this previous generation have left me genuinely speechless, and I don’t just mean figuratively. The demo Platinum and Sega were showcasing on the E3 2010 show floor was one of the most searing, visceral and transformative moments in all of my action gaming life. Less than 10 seconds after completing the available single level, I was suddenly approached by some Sega representatives with a camera rolling. They began to ask questions: “ What did you think?” “How do you like the boost?” “What do you think of the character design?” “How do you feel.” I kept nodding in their direction, but nothing was coming out of my mouth, nothing at all. Why? I was sweating, panting like I needed to catch my breath. Their amusement turned to slight irritation as I just stood there gasping heavily. Suddenly I blurted out a single slurred stutter: “It’s fast!”
From the cosmos to crash-landing back on good old planet Earth, come read through the best sci-fi-nastically games on the PS3
Starhawk over Warhawk?...... Dude, NO ONE should listen to you.
Odd choices for "best" more like you settled as these being the "best" that available to you at the time, cause a lot of these blow or were average to poor performers that ended up in bargain bin.
Missing too many great sci-fi titles here. The Void, The Resistance Series, Killzone 2 and 3, Enslaved, man.. there were so many, this is redicu-list.
Glad to see Resonance of Fate. Enslaved was pretty good too. I’m sure there are others nobody has listed but I’m too tired to try and think of anything
Veteran video game developer Shinji Mikami has established a new company.
That’s according to a bio of the developer on the new Shadows of the Damned Hella Remastered website, which claims that Mikami has recently founded ‘Kamuy Inc’.
No details further details on the company have been shared. There is also no indication of what the company will do.
Shinji should never stop making games. Kinda crazy he left the funding of M$ though.
I remember when it was announced that he was leaving Tango, someone on N4G claimed that he was old and it was time for him to retire.
I couldn't help but laugh at the ignorance. Mikami (like most Japanese people), do not want to work for Microsoft, they want their games to be played by their fellow citizens, which means Switch, Playstation, and PC. But this fool couldn't comprehend that. 🤣
Was waiting for his return announcement, glad to see that he's back! Please don't make mobile games.
I hope it's still survival horror
They should build on what they did with Evil Within for a new IP and take notes from the Evil Within sequel with those open hub areas.
Wouldn't mind if it was like Resident Evil but with a vampire virus instead.
Yeah this man's skills need a new start to thrive. Hope he keeps doing what he loves. Wonder what his next project is.
In a wide-ranging interview with IGN, game developer legend Hideki Kamiya reveals why he left Bayonetta maker PlatinumGames and what's next.
Long shot here but with him out of the picture... MS could get PG to finish Scalebound. As it is, the project was shelved and Ms still had all the work they had done up to that point. HK's mismanagement of multiple projects is what caused MS to pull the plug, but I feel they still wanted to get it done at some point.
“My work with Platinum Games was based on a relationship of trust with the company. I decided to leave because I felt that the direction the company was heading in was different from my beliefs as a developer. Without that element of trust, I couldn’t continue working there, and so I left, so that I could continue working in what I consider to be the right way.
“I don't think of games as products, but rather as works of art. I want to put my artistry into games and deliver games that could only be made by Hideki Kamiya, so that players can enjoy Hideki Kamiya games exactly as they are. I decided to leave the company and forge my own path, to continue making games that reflect the developers who made them.”
