Infamous video game film director, Uwe Boll responded to his critics recently in a video with the German YouTube channel, hyperboleTV. Mr. Boll has heard it all from angry gamers across the land. How could this man tarnish the brilliant writing and stories of games like House of the Dead and Bloodrayne with movies of equally terrible storytelling?
Well according to 'ol Uwey, it's because he just doesn't give a **** about the source material. Licensed properties just tend to come with bigger paychecks for lazy directors.
VGChartz's Evan Norris: "Early this year, publisher Ziggurat Interactive closed a deal with Rainbow Arts, a game developer that launched dozens of titles throughout the 80s and 90s, mainly for the C64, Amiga, and PC. As a result, Ziggurat now owns more than 80 games from the Rainbow Arts catalog, including the incredibly rare Rendering Ranger: R²...
To continue that celebration and to learn more about the Rainbow Arts acquisition, we reached out to Ziggurat's Kate Woods, VP of Operations, Finance & Marketing, who was kind enough to answer our questions."
The ReVamped versions enhance every aspect of the game. Recently, the BloodRayne and BloodRayne 2: Revamped are rated by the ESRB for PS5.
Anyone else unable to not think of the name Uwe Bol when they hear about these games?
I remember this game having the worst control, unresponsive actions, and bland, boring areas to explore. The article basically says that they worked on graphics and dialog.
This game looked like a PS2 game and runs at about 15fps on the switch. I don't have much faith in the developers. It will be the same shoddy port that runs better because there's more power to make up for the unoptimized code
Ziggurat Interactive follows through on their promise to resurrect Rayne, the bloodthirsty half-vampire with a chip on her shoulder.
I vaguely remember playing one of the games but I know the movies sucked I might have to check out the games.
Remaster or Remake of number 2 please. Still got it on OG Xbox.
Literally was thinking about this game maybe a week ago. Would love a remake or sequel for next-gen!
great comment to make when all you do is videogame to movie adaptations.
" Uwey, it's because he just doesn't give a shit about the source material "
Like Hollywood then...because they don't give a shit about the source material. Doesn't matter how many times the writer/director comes out and tries to make out that they are "respecting" it, it comes out, we watch it and it ends up being so bloody obvious that they haven't.
"Some directors like to entrench themselves in their source material, often pouring hours of research and care into their project"
I highly doubt they do, they probably watch a few trailers and gameplay segments and that's it.
I mean hell Michael Fassbender is doing Assassins Creed and he says it's going to respect the source material, despite being a fantastic actor I've been burnt too many times to actually believe that it's going to be good. I like him don't get me wrong but he's even said he's not a gamer.
Is it that hard for someone to go "Gee you know what, for years people have tried straying away from the source material, why don't WE try to do the opposite and stick as closely as we can to it"
I would be surprised if he played.
Too bad N4G has rules about bad language, good job youtube let me truely express how I felt about this scum ;)
He never directed a movie either
