The legendary creator of Final Fantasy Hironobu Sakaguchi talked at a panel today at PAX Prime, and he gave a few interesting details on his plans on his wishes for the future.
17 years later, it still stands out.
The game was indeed amazing. Great characters, gameplay and story!
But the dream sequences penned by Shigematsu were sublime.
I still remember many of these stories and I have integrated in the past in my D&D campaign many years ago.
Microsoft should have just kept pumping money into these guys. Same with a lot of the other studios... the blundered hard.
Lost Odysee deserved a franchise even though development wasn't smooth
It's not like it has had any competition since 2007. Would really like to own the short stories from it in book form.
The problem with most MS games on 360 was they didn’t make the games they paid for them and that makes you less money in the long run and isn’t something you can continue to do especially with declining sales of consoles. MS should have been starting and growing studios from the beginning but they went for paid games and it leaves them without the knowledge and culture of making games.
The dev praised the non-Japanese team behind the game for keeping its setting authentic to real life.
Crazy how many Japanese developers have come out to praise the game when the Western journalists were trying to play it down and give off the impression it was somehow racist for a Western studio to make a game set in Japans history
Is this trying to reach back and aim for another round of cultural appropriation? Yes, some Americans made a great game that respects another culture, get over it and go Frosk yourselves.
Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi was asked whether he'd work on the MMORPG as a guest creator during a panel that TechRaptor attended in person, and his answer was relatable and funny at the same time.
What is Sakaguchi working on nowadays? Fantasian was the last thing he put out right? That game really needs a Steam release or something.
NOOOO! I just beat the Last Story on my Wii U!
From the article, quote:
"Asked if there was a chance to see a new The Last Story game , Sakaguchi-san answered in English “Ok, yeah, you talk to Nintendo.”
Then the moderator of the panel asked who in the audience would want to see a sequel of The Last Story on Wii U, and while the audience cheered and applauded, Sakaguchi-san added, again in English, “And maybe PlayStation 4 too?”
Sakaguchi-san was laughing, so he was most probably just teasing the audience, but I can’t say I wouldn’t like to see something like that happen."
Un-quote.
I'd kiss the man if he made a Last Story sequel and brought it to the Wii U.
It, Xenoblade Chronicles, and Pandora's Tower were three of the greatest games to ever grace any console, and more players should have experienced them.
Also, he's looking forward to the N3DS, so maaaaybe a new Final Fantasy game will hit it eventually?
Fingers crossed; it's been too long.
Thing is, if he were to announce Last Story for the PS4, this TGS would be it.
An attempt to test the waters with an old game for further support.
Oh yeah
I would poop my pants if the last story goes to ps4!! Wii U would be nice too but I'd like to see dem next gen grafix. Loved the first one. Come on Sakaguchi-san make it happen! I'd like to see one of his games on playstation again...
