Paradox wants to see its line-up of PS4 games, including Magicka 2, come to Xbox One.
During gamescom, the PC publisher announced that Runemaster and Hollowpoint would join Magicka 2 on PS4 as well as PC.
CEO Fredrik Wester said that it was Sony's persistence and Paradox's decision to focus on one console at a time that led to it choosing PS4 for the time being.
"We are absolutely [interested in Xbox]. I spoke to Microsoft this morning," he told Digital Spy in an interview after Paradox's gamescom press conference.
"We're interested in the Xbox One, it's just we wanted to start with one of the consoles, and Sony was a bit more aggressive in pursuing us and getting things together. They were a bit quicker.
"But with Microsoft, I'd love to be on Xbox One as well. Take a game like Magicka 2, it belongs on both the consoles - it maybe even belongs on the Wii U, I don't know. We'll see.
"Magicka has a huge following out there, so we're doing our best to meet the gamers wherever they want to play the game, because that's the decisive factor after all. Most of our gamers are PC gamers, but a lot of the people also play on console."
Today Paradox Interactive announced that it's parting ways with its subsidiary studio Harebrained Schemes effective January 1, 2024.
I mean it wasn't that intelligent to begin with, release it exclusive to the system that doesn't buy games. Plus it was on gamepass if I'm not mistaken. It's been a minute since I had mine on cause I just wrapped up chrono cross on ps5 but remember looking forward to checking this out on the Xbox. Try it on xbox if I liked it I would've bought on ps
Paradox Interactive appears to be about to reveal something mysterious next week. It could be a new Civilization-style game, or something else entirely.
Besides its 11 active games, Swedish video game publisher Paradox Interactive currently has a staggering 13 brand-new titles in development.
I've played the first on pc. So one could imagine my surprise that they decided to put this game on ps4 first. It ok with me also long as it comes to pc. Glad to hear they want to put it one the x1.
Deals and money... that's what pushes the console gaming industry nowadays.
I think it's not that bad being a small studio today. Go to Sony and ask for money for exclusivity. If denied then go to Microsoft. If denied then go to Nintendo. If denied then release their game for PC or mobile and hope for a hit. If their game is a hit, then ask for money for console exclusivity PS4/Vita/X1/WiiU. They have so many options.
played the first magicka on pc awhile ago
have to the gameplay is pretty solid and fun
the only thing that brought it down was its polish, had a ton of bugs and the online was horrible.
hopefully these things are fixed for magicka 2
Paradox Interactive's grand strategy games are simply put the best in the market; complex, versatile, challenging, etc. Totally opposite what Ubisoft and EA releases.
"We're interested in the Xbox One, it's just we wanted to start with one of the consoles, and Sony was a bit more aggressive in pursuing us and getting things together. They were a bit quicker."
In other words Sony jumped on a business opportunity and payed money for the game first... Let me guess that is okay, TB/PS4 fans? Lol
