Sweet prizes. Would love to win one of these if I was in one of the eligible countries. Would give it to my son. Daddy will keep his beast, you can have this, powerful, but less beastly machine, enjoy your Minecraft. lol

I thought you were joking until I clicked on the link and read the specs of the rigs they used. Wow they are kind of weak. My rig is over 2 years old an it literally smokes these rigs.

I thought they were going to at least be running an SLI configuration. Although that Radeon card is a really good card. Runs hot as hell but a decent card. I personally prefer Nvidia but that's just me.

jdiggitty3570d ago

I have that R9 card if that's the one you're referring to. It doesn't get much above 50C for me with anything other than Planetside 2

Boody-Bandit3570d ago (Edited 3570d ago )

If you are card is running cool, that's great. Saying your card runs at 50c could mean next to nothing. What resolutions, what settings, what games, how many panels / displays, what size tower, PSU, cooling system, etc all come into play.

I'm not trying to insult anyone by saying Radeon cards run hot. I mean maybe hotter than hell wasn't the best choice of words but they do run hotter, consume more power and are louder than Nvidia cards. Especially when comparing 290x to 780Ti. Which is what, even though I was specific, was referring to in my first response.

Kleptic3570d ago

have to agree...a 290x at full song will push heat like you wouldn't believe...not digging, a lot of guys have had them on nearly non stop in BF4 for nearly 10 months with no issues...

but if you hover around 50C, you're bottlenecked to hell and back somewhere...

but on the other hand...'kind of weak' is a stretch as well...CF and SLI sound 'cool' on the forums, but they're almost unanimously poorly optimized options for steady gaming without gimmicks...meaning...when those setups work, they're great...but just as often, its a buggy mess of driver wiping and moaning...

a single 290x is far from 'weak'...a 7970 in the giveaway pc will also nearly max out any game other than like 4 at 1080...i know, i know, this is a PC discussion so we need to be talking about 1440p+ @144hz or more...but w/e...those giveaways are triple any current console...

duplissi3570d ago (Edited 3570d ago )

Actually it is the Reference models of the 290X that ran hot. Even though I just put a water block on mine, it rarely hit 70c under full load when overclocked to 1130. Now? well I have to try to get it over 50c XD. I have the ASUS DirectCU II version. and that is about on par with a 780ti version of the same card.

They do use a little more power, but nothing drastic, the hawaii gpus use about 5-10% more watts on average vs a Kepler gk110

The cards don't run hot, but it's that the AMD reference cooler sucks.

are thiz the same PC's used to run Microsoft's stage @ GamesCom???

kratoz12093570d ago

Most likely if you look hard enough alot of there games are running on pc even evolve was runing on pc the xbox was off in one of those boxes

ATi_Elite3569d ago

Battlefield hardline PC's running on ONE R9 290x is cool beans and a more realistic set-up.

Nvidia always has to stuff two $1000 GPU's in their machines. Come on who has money for that.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot793d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250792d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface792d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop792d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno792d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel793d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps792d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888792d ago (Edited 792d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33792d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888792d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH792d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

Ranking All The Battlefield Games

From Xfire: "With the next game being a return to the classic XX42 formula, now is as good a time as any to make an utterly definitive and in no possible way controversial ranking of the Battlefield games we've enjoyed over the years, with which undoubtedly nobody will take issue in the comment section. Right? Okay then - here we go, from least good to best."

OMNlPOTENT1063d ago

Battlefield 1 above 4 and Bad Company 2? Not a chance.

Ruegrong1063d ago

battlefield 4 was broken as shit on launch same as battlefield 3

isarai1063d ago

Bad company 2 was still my favorite, sure it was a bit gimped compared to the rest if the series but more fun and far more satisfying weapon unlocks.

XxINFERNUSxX1063d ago (Edited 1063d ago )

Battlefield 1942 + both expansions are my all time favorite, it can still be played online to this day. Vietnam would be my 2nd, 3rd Battlefield 2, last BF2142 the rest I didn't care for. They really need to remake from the ground up in the new engine BF1942. Next year it will be 20 yrs since it was released. If they don't at least to me would be a disservice. ☹

The Life & Death of the Season Pass

In a time not too long ago, a foul infection spread its way through the games industry. It was a vile illness that burrowed itself in deep, feeding off of greed and the incessant begging of teens desperate to receive funds from their parents. It divided friend groups, suffocated player bases, and was common practice up until recently—it was the season pass.

This doesn't make a ton of sense. Season Passes may slowly fade out for multiplayer games, perhaps, but I don't see them going anywhere in games that are primarily single player. They don't seem to touch on this either, with every game being some kind of online/multiplayer/GaaS title, and nary a mention of a single player game - at least that I saw.

I mean, games like Borderlands 3 just asked people to buy in to the 2nd season pass. Battle passes can't really take over in places that have story driven content and such. So I'd say perhaps they missed a bit of a necessary distinction but, since they claim the death of season pass is at hand, it appears they may have missed how single player games factor into this entirely.
