'Allow me to be upfront with you for a second. Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty was a game I had no intention of playing. It was only through a weird turn of events that I found myself sitting in front of the TV, solving puzzles and jumping from one platform to another.
I’ve been totally ignorant of this series until now.
So no, I can’t compare this to Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. I can’t tell you how it’s different or what it improves on, as I’m a newbie. But I can tell you just how much I’ve enjoyed it as a standalone product. And I’ve really, really enjoyed it.'
Starting today, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty is free at Epic Games Store. The free game offer runs until December 19 at 11 AM Eastern. Once you claim it, it’s yours to keep.
"If you're a 2D puzzle adventure aficionado who doesn't already own Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty on one of the half dozen consoles that it's currently available for then it'll make for a worthy purchase but those who do have it will find little reason to get it again on Switch." - A.J. WTMG's Heidi Hawes: "All Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty! managed to do was frustrate me. However, it did make me appreciate the controls in Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee more. Honestly, if you’re new to the franchise, it might even be better to just skip ahead to Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. At least those gameplay mechanics feel like something more from this era. That being said, if you’re a die hard fan of Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee or perhaps just a glutton for punishment, then perhaps try your luck with Oddworld: New ‘N’ Tasty!."
