Might be a good idea to hire some more staff then.

Vita versions and the localization of the Tales games in general are often requested to no avail - and they'd sell like hotcakes.

doesn't explain why they refuse offers from other publishers

teflontactics3853d ago (Edited 3853d ago )

It's possible they just don't want to trust their games to anyone but their own people - that's a common practice in a lot of media fields.

That said, I agree; that's a weak excuse when you're getting worth-while offers. Good point.

AceBlazer133853d ago

That's too bad. Nice to have a reason behind it though, I always thought they just hated us or something .

tanookisuit3853d ago

They should ask Xseed to help. Those guys are superb.

Inception3853d ago

Hmm, is that mean Namdai higher ups doesn't want to give more budget / staff for Tales franchise? If yes, than it's ironic considering Tales are one of the most popular franchise that Namdai ever have.

rainslacker3853d ago

Don't need staff. That's what contract workers are for. Give it to another company to localize. There are plenty out there that would love some work I'm sure.

Inception3853d ago (Edited 3853d ago )

I think Namdai doesn't mind if another company wants to localize Tales. But the problem is: those company still need Tales / Namdai programmer to do the coding. So just like Baba said in the article: they don't have enough staff to do it. Imho, that's mean Namdai doesn't want to risk more money to hired new staff for Tales franchise and make it more popular in the west.

Btw, Xseed also had this problem when they tried to localize Grand Knight History. They already finished the translation, but Vanillaware doesn't have programmer to do the coding because they're still busy finishing Dragon's Crown and Muramasa Rebirth. In Vanillaware case i still understand it because Vanillaware is a small company with only twenty or thirty staff in their division. But in Namdai case, well, that's questionable...

is that all !!! really dispointed all this titles and spin off just 15 millions !!

Kyosuke_Sanada4177d ago (Edited 4177d ago )

Is it wrong for developers to celebrate in just making a profit and lasting this long in the gaming industry?

Humble pie has the best taste when you are the one holding the fork I guess.....

blackbirdi4177d ago

i'm talking about numbers not about celebrating or not !

izumo_lee4177d ago

You have to take to account that some of these games have yet to make it over to the west. Also the series although pretty popular is still a niche series overall.

The highest selling games of the series (Symphonia & Destiny) has only done about 1 million each & one of them came out in 1997.

Someone's forgetting majority of the Tales games are Japan-only...

deletingthis346753344177d ago

Not overly impressive but not bad either considering some of this series is Japanese only and most of the fan base is in Japan. At least they are bringing over Xilla over to North America and EU next year. Between this and Ni no Kuni I am looking forward to next year for some RPG fun.

Bamco you need to localize more Tales for your English speaking market.

ScubbaSteve4177d ago

I've always hoped, if they didn't want to do full on localizations, they'd start to make region free or digital copies that have have subtitles. There aren't enough games like Demon's Souls, where if they're taking forever on the localization, that I can just import instead.

I'd be curious how much it'd cost to hire a few people to run translations, heck hire the people out there doing fan translations.

tiffac0084176d ago (Edited 4176d ago )

They could also allow 3rd party publishers like XSeed to localize for them. I think that would be less expensive for the developer. ^^

Is this real good,ok,bad etc?
