Is it me, or does it feel like this game came out today in a lot of ways?

GamingSinceThe80s3600d ago

Kind of but I played the alpha last month. When I started playing the Beta today I enjoyed the new content. But since after that this is the same as the alpha and is the start of the game, I stopped playing because if I don't I will be playing the all the same parts for a third time at the real launch.I'm already sold on the game so I mite as well just wait 2 months now till I pick up the collectors edition.

caseh3600d ago

"I stopped playing because if I don't I will be playing the all the same parts for a third time at the real launch"

This is why I've not downloaded the Beta, I played it for 12+ hours during the Alpha so what's the point in playing the same game with same cap. May as well just wait for the release. :)

Si-Fly3599d ago

If you only want it for single player I can understand this argument but I'm using the Beta for PvP, too much fun to miss out on!

Destiny Beta Codes that I didn't use (PS4 - Europe):

8BBE-GRNG-B7TE
BM4H-54NJ-QJ2T
B2BN-QTNC-TQAM
623P-NJNB-EE8J
89DL-BPND-7CQK

Enjoy!

opoikl3599d ago

Don't tell me I got a disagree for handing out extra codes? Gotta love this community..

PANDAB3599d ago

It is rumored that progression in the Beta *may* carry over to the full version of the game.

In fact when watching IGN's beta coverage that aired on the 16th - the Bungie manager said that's being discussed.

So, it may not be a total loss if you level up the characters.

MazzingerZ3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

@opoikl

I guess the disagrees from members it's due that the best way to hand out codes is "contact me if you want a beta code, first-come, first-served"

Doing like this you are asking people to eventually enter up to 4 codes just to find out all of them are already used.

opoikl3598d ago

Not asking anyone anything, just handing out spare codes. I'm sure those that want it badly enough will make the extra effort. Beggars can't be choosers.

Doesn't this ruin the appeal of getting to experience the game for the first time on ACTUAL day one when you get the physical copy of the game?

I like knowing I'm going to like a game, but not knowing a lot about it.

The Mystery is sometimes the best part.

MazzingerZ3599d ago

Yeah, agree, mainly when it comes to Bungie, ND or similar awesome devs.

I'm finally upgrading to PS4, Destiny is kind of the start for me, launch period is behind now.

Ozmoses3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

the cap is 8... but the skills still gain exp...

the skills that have the circle going around them still gain exp..

I've unlocked like 2 upgrades since i reached level 8...

and you can never be sure what they'll do... I've been building up my vanguard mark and ranks... collecting spinmetal to turn in for easier rewards..

keep your guns until they are completely maxed out...

on your magic items.. when they have a yellow border around them they are maxed out.

they might keep something that transfers over to the full game for us

fenome3599d ago

Your gear keeps leveling up too, as long as it's green or higher, plus it's just fun so I'm gonna keep playin'

Ozmoses3599d ago

yeah that's what I mean't.. when your gear has a yellow box around it.. it can't be leveled up anymore..

so like when your shotgun is maxed out.. you can find another green weapon like a sniper rifle and start maxing that out..

so you by the time the beta is over.. you'll have at least one maxed item of every type.. be it armor or weapons..

I'm determined to learn the in's and out's of what I need to do to get the good stuff the fastest..

for example.. you can't use the vanguard or crucible items or weapons in the beta.. but it is possible to reach the requirements needed to purchase them if you put in the effort..

I'm almost at vanguard rank 1.. I have 12 vanguard marks and like 15 crucible marks.

I was gonna buy a cool "blue" emblem from the Warlock vanguard when I get to level one, since I can't equip the gear.

But yeah.. that's what I've mainly been doing..

Here's a clan I started for PS4, Open to all.. Let's Dominate the Galaxy!!

Ripsta7th3600d ago

This is how a real beta should be. Letting us play and experience it , i forsure will get this at launch. So nuch content in this beta. Thanks to SuperBlunt for da beta code

cfc833600d ago

How do i get into multiplayer. Im stuck in the area where people dance.

Si-Fly3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

It's unlocked at Level 5.

cfc833599d ago

Cheers mate i done that today. Im rotten at multiplayer. Good game.

ThanatosDMC3599d ago

Follow green markers. Hold square. Follow next marker and hold square. Repeat a couple more times. Press touchpad and launch pretend/fake spaceship. Watch stupid boring orbiting spaceship launch a mission to a in pretend open world map.

Yeah, I expected a lot more.

Phene3599d ago

I don't completely disagree with you. The game is a very simple kind of fun. I wish it had more game mechanics but so far it's been fun despite it being very simple. I'm actually enjoying the multiplayer a lot more this go around.

KAEM73599d ago

LOL nice... well said. Even tho you're right about the liniar mission structure so far (the 'raid' is a different story), I still find it all entertaining as hell and just can't stop playing... So it does meet my expectations

I just got to level 8. I'm not sure but I think they are raising the level cap next week for when it is also released on Xbox.

Destiny Made Over $160 Million In Microtransaction Revenue In Less Than 2 Years

Destiny has made over $160 million in MTX revenue, and these numbers only account the data from late 2017 to early 2019.

Sgt_Slaughter362d ago

That's extremely low for microtransactions, especially for a game that's essentially designed around it

LucasRuinedChildhood362d ago (Edited 362d ago )

This was back when the game wasn't free to play.

The figures are from November 2017 to February 2019 (1 year and 4 months).

Based on that projection, the MTX revenue for Destiny 2 likely would have been closer to ~$240m for 2 years.

Not sure if premium expansions are included in that figure either although ... I'd hope that they are though and that most of the revenue was for actual content like Forsaken.

People spend way too much money on cosmetics.

Rude-ro362d ago (Edited 362d ago )

Seasons($10 and just got bumped to $12) and dungeon keys($10 each, two a year) are through the eververse(micro transaction) store.
So for those two years, in order to play a season, you would pay through micro transactions.

Sonic1881362d ago (Edited 362d ago )

Bungie Marathon will be worse since it's designed around it as well

Kurt Russell361d ago

It makes me sad to agree... but at the same time I am looking forward to giving it a go. Destiny 2 is so far in, I find it difficult to figure out what I am meant to do first.

buffig362d ago

I think FIFA alone makes over $1bn a year from mtx

anast362d ago

FIFA promotes a worldwide sport. It should make more money than destiny.

CantThinkOfAUsername362d ago (Edited 362d ago )

Let's compare something similar. Apex Legends and its ridiculous $18/$40 skins make EA a billion each year.

z2g362d ago

For as much as ppl complain how much they hate microtransactions, they sure don’t act like it. No wonder they aren’t going anywhere.

spicelicka362d ago

By "people" you're referring to millions and millions of people. Obviously the ones complaining aren't necessarily the same as the ones spending all that money.

There's millions that purchase MTX and there's nothing we can do about it

I've been thinking about playing through D1 again before it goes away...

CobraKai513d ago

That’s the sad reality of a game like this. I bought it, invested lots of money, and it can go away at anytime. I still think this was more fun than 2.

jeromeface512d ago

prob because 2 is a grindfest slog

spoonard510d ago

That's the bummer of 'games as a service'.
