Destiny Beta's Level Cap Revealed

Hardcore Gamer: We've discovered the level cap in the Destiny Beta.

Is it me, or does it feel like this game came out today in a lot of ways?

Kind of but I played the alpha last month.When I started playing the Beta today I enjoyed the new content.But since after that this is the same as the alpha and is the start of the game, I stopped playing because if I don't I will be playing the all the same parts for a third time at the real launch.I'm already sold on the game so I mite as well just wait 2 months now till I pick up the collectors edition.

This is why I've not downloaded the Beta, I played it for 12+ hours during the Alpha so what's the point in playing the same game with same cap. May as well just wait for the release. :)

It is rumored that progression in the Beta *may* carry over to the full version of the game.

In fact when watching IGN's beta coverage that aired on the 16th - the Bungie manager said that's being discussed.

So, it may not be a total loss if you level up the characters.

Doing like this you are asking people to eventually enter up to 4 codes just to find out all of them are already used.

Doesn't this ruin the appeal of getting to experience the game for the first time on ACTUAL day one when you get the physical copy of the game?

I like knowing I'm going to like a game, but not knowing a lot about it.

I'm finally upgrading to PS4, Destiny is kind of the start for me, launch period is behind now.

the cap is 8... but the skills still gain exp...

the skills that have the circle going around them still gain exp..

I've unlocked like 2 upgrades since i reached level 8...

and you can never be sure what they'll do... I've been building up my vanguard mark and ranks... collecting spinmetal to turn in for easier rewards..

keep your guns until they are completely maxed out...

on your magic items.. when they have a yellow border around them they are maxed out.

they might keep something that transfers over to the full game for us

Your gear keeps leveling up too, as long as it's green or higher, plus it's just fun so I'm gonna keep playin'

yeah that's what I mean't.. when your gear has a yellow box around it.. it can't be leveled up anymore..

so like when your shotgun is maxed out.. you can find another green weapon like a sniper rifle and start maxing that out..

so you by the time the beta is over.. you'll have at least one maxed item of every type.. be it armor or weapons..

I'm determined to learn the in's and out's of what I need to do to get the good stuff the fastest..

for example.. you can't use the vanguard or crucible items or weapons in the beta.. but it is possible to reach the requirements needed to purchase them if you put in the effort..

I'm almost at vanguard rank 1.. I have 12 vanguard marks and like 15 crucible marks.

I was gonna buy a cool "blue" emblem from the Warlock vanguard when I get to level one, since I can't equip the gear.

But yeah.. that's what I've mainly been doing..

Follow green markers. Hold square. Follow next marker and hold square. Repeat a couple more times. Press touchpad and launch pretend/fake spaceship. Watch stupid boring orbiting spaceship launch a mission to a in pretend open world map.

I don't completely disagree with you. The game is a very simple kind of fun. I wish it had more game mechanics but so far it's been fun despite it being very simple. I'm actually enjoying the multiplayer a lot more this go around.

LOL nice... well said. Even tho you're right about the liniar mission structure so far (the 'raid' is a different story), I still find it all entertaining as hell and just can't stop playing... So it does meet my expectations

because they didn't want to waste time programming in for the game to drop only level 8 weapons because it's not important in the overall scheme of things. Enjoy the beta it's not like your stuff will be saved it's just to experience the game

Right on! And no there shouldn't be a debate of my stats or gear transferring over. It's a beta, enjoy find bugs and report it to Bungie on their forums.

Reaching lvl 4 I found no bugs, the dam game got better since alpha!

Bungle has stated that the beta is roughly 10% of the final game. It's also been hinted at that there will be a huge update once the servers go offline and after this week even if the level cap is only 8 there is plenty to explore and pvp though only one game type is rather addicting. I'm enjoying it more than the alpha mostly due to the fact that over half my friends list is in the beta.

I'm not. The five single player missions take 90-120 minutes I'd wager. That comes out to 15-20 hours for the story. Add ten different strikes (Devil's Lair strike being 10%) and a bunch of multiplayer maps and I'm a happy camper.

I'm not saying these figures are what the final game will have, but if it does I won't complain.

@GuyManDude Not at all, maybe the first play through takes that long, but if you remove orbit and loading times I can run through all five missions in at least half that time

Seriously question here: I have been watching this on Twitch and am curious about this game. How is it? The MP matches looked halo like. Is this game more cooperative campaign or single player? I remember when I first heard of this game when they revealed it, it sounded like you could jump to planet to planet with your friends and jump into battles, kinda like an MMO/FPS/RPG kinda game, but the more I see of it, I see a single player and competitive MP?

Can anyone shine some light on what I should expect with this game?

It's a real simple kind of fun Jeff. Don't expect amazing game mechanics, but it is exceptionally clean and easy to pickup and understand all the rpg elements. As for playing, yeh u def wanna play with friends ...they let u choose ur difficulty on sp which honestly makes it more fun to best the "go-here-shoot-this" missions. As for the mp, barely played in the alpha but gave it a go this time, and it's fun. It's no cod fast paced which is nice, and the level design is great for being tactical. So far it doesn't feel very team oriented, but honestly man there's no way to say it other then it's simple fun.

Pretty much what Phene said. Its fun playing solo if thats what you are looking for, but if you have a group of friends playing its an absolute blast. Especially if you get a fireteam together and go on the strike missions. I havent played the competitive multiplayer aspect, as im more of a co-op type of player, but the little bit i did play to try it out was just as fun. Just expect to have a lot of fun with this game!

I'm about 5 hours in the beta and am level 6. so far it achieves a nice mix different styles. The main focus in the beta is on the single player/ cooprative part of the game. You must get to level 5 to unlock the multiplayer if i am not mistaken. They introduce the kinda different modes that blend well. For instance when outside at the beginning of a mission i ran into another player and some foes, we wrecked havoc and did some side mission where we had to defend a satelite or something. After that i went inside a building where the mission objective was and me and the other guy seperated either he was doing a different mission altogether or he left or something. then it was like a single player shooter again. I got to an area where it said that respwans are restricked so if you die you will have to encouter some boss type foe(s) from the start. In other areas dying is pretty much without penalty. In a 'raid' i did a bit later it was a must to with 3 players (either friends or by matchmaking). We had to coordinate a bit and form a strategy to defeat a robotspider.

The controls a solid, the shooting feels powerfull and weighty. The different guns have a distinct style and feel.

The competitive multiplayer is a bit like Halo (which i think is good). The different classes with their powers/abilities and guns make for some interesting plays. I have not played enough to go into further detail.

It sucks its level eight again. I already found couple rare level 9 items and its disappointing you can' even use them. At least in the beta you can continue to progress your skills in your subclass after hitting level 8. In the alpha you couldn't do that at all.
