Capcom USA declines offers to bring Resident Evil 0 to North America

"Nothing is ever final, but we've been asked twice if we've wanted to bring it Westward and twice we've declined. - Christian Svensson, Capcom Entertainment Inc." - VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development

This probably isn't the worst of news considering that most who are interested in Resident Evil 0 most likely already purchased the title for the GameCube. However, the Resident Evil series has been one of the more successful third-party franchises on the Nintendo consoles. Is this a huge mistake on the part of Capcom USA?

but gosh, i can't stand Svensson

Anyway, I heard Resident Evil 0 was the worst one. I wish they would remake code-veronica using the RE4 engine on the wii. That would be nice.

dragunrising5811d ago

Code Veronica using the Resident Evil 4 engine would be sweet. On account Resident Evil 5 isn't coming to Wii, it wouldn't hurt. RE4 Wii edition was by far the best version; loved the Wii controls. A shame that one of the best games on the Wii will probrably be a one hit wonder. Nintendo has a tendency to smother third party developers/publishers so their own titles come out on top. I hope this changes. Plus, Nintendo needs to come up with some new mascots already.

Sounds bogus to me. I never played RE:0, but im sure companies would not invest in a remake just to release it in a certain area, and hope to break even.

I bought RE1 remake on the gamecube, I enjoyed playing it. I agree Code Veronica is great.

They showed video a few months back and the game was already pretty much English. It wouldnt really be that hard to just bring it over

I played it and the GameCube remake of the original. Both a great games, but Zero falls short of 1's glory. Not by much, since I did like the dual-character aspect of it. Most of the time, however the control was weird.

Zero sucked. It's sitting in my closet inside my GameCube box.

Resident Evil 1996 - 2023 - A Look at some Resident Evil games and how the visuals improved

CG writes: In this video we take a look at the original 1996 release of Capcom’s Resident Evil on the PSOne, then go through most of the more popular games in the long-running series. You can see the full list below in chronological order of release (or thereabouts). Sure, there are some notable omissions such as Resident Evil Chronicles and Resident Evil Outbreak 1 & 2 etc. but the video does a great job of highlighting how the game’s visuals progressed over 25 years. The last game in the video showcases the Resident Evil 4 remake which released earlier this year.

Quite amazing how in late 90s those pre-rendered static backgrounds were like the bees knees. I am wondering what a game would look like today if it used the same pre-rendered backgrounds. Are we looking at photo-realistic environments or is there no need when you have games like UNRECORD using UE5?

Spenok220d ago

I would say no need when you consider games like Unrecord.

ApocalypseShadow220d ago

Not just the visuals. But the immersion since 3 of them are in VR

Resident Evil Games That Still Deserve A Remake More Than RE4

There are plenty of Resident Evil games ripe with remake potential that Capcom is seemingly leaving on the table by choosing to focus on RE4.

I will never understand why Code Veronica has not received a Remake (Darkside Chronicles doesn’t count). Hot take here, but it’s my favorite of the games. First game where Wesker became a bamf and I always liked the music and enemy/boss variety.

InklingGirl590d ago

Code Veronica deserved to be next in line for a remake, why people still after all these years and different platforms feel they need a RE4 remake is beyond me.

Shinox590d ago

its not the people, its Capcom's greedy ass that have no appreciation for their past or their classics
the demand was high for CVX Remake even Capcom knows it

Army_of_Darkness589d ago (Edited 589d ago )

It's all about the sales and popularity bro! That's what Capcom and any other company for that matter, is going by for potential remakes.

I'd love a shadows of the damned remake, but that's never gonna happen.

Stonilein590d ago

this game is hard as hell but i love it

Code Veronica would bring in some serious cash for Capcom.

Resident Evil Final Bosses Ranked From Worst To Best

BLG writes: "Some thrive on fear and the way it makes their blood pump. There is something that can be said about fighting a boss that leaves you with cold sweats, tense muscles, and a lingering feeling of dread once the game has been put away. Resident Evil is a series that offers this in spades. For the final bosses of resident Resident Evil to be successful, those battles should be scary, exciting, look cool visually, and satisfying to blow apart."

I swear, Resident Evil bosses are like Final Fantasy bosses, "you think you defeated me? Prepared for my new form!", "Be prepared for my final form!"..

Why cant i just shoot a damn greedy CEO of a corrupt company that is manufacturing viruses?
