It’s a dangerous time. Walking outside of your home town means inviting the wilds to test you with vicious competition. You won’t have enough equipment, and your gear is mostly homespun. But your heart is pure. Your mission righteous. You will overcome.
This was the world of the videogame RPG in the mid 1980′s.
Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?
Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Rise of the ronin sold twice as much as Dragons Dogma 2 this week...but no articles about that. It's only news if a PS exclusive is being outsold.
Agree'd on breaking up with square. FFXIII hurt me too much, and FFversusXIII/XV may be too little too late if it doesn't have the following; Airships, World Map, Towns.
Seems we grew up with JRPG's in the same manner, was a very nostalgic and enjoyable read. The other day I was clearing out the attic and came across two odl instruction manuals in a box, one for Squaresofts FFVII and the other for Enix's Star Ocean Second Story... was like finding an old photograph with an old flame, heart breaking stuff haha.
I forgot all about shadow hearts, really enjoyed that game! I can't remember the last time I played a truly good RPG (Lost Odyssey hit close to the mark)and the sad thing is I dunno if I'll ever play another truly great JRPG again. Unless Ni No Kuni gets a rerelease on ps4 (I had sold my ps3 to pay off debt before it was released :( )
I've been playing the FF series lately ( first time for most) and I've got to say it makes new RPG's look bad.
I miss the days when i could just look at the square logo and know that i'll be getting a amazing game. It's nothing like the way it used to be.
I would like Square to do a game similar to Child of Light tho
Now doesn't compare to then.
