Vita game on top, PS4 version of Watch Dogs inching out MK8 again (One version of a multiplat keeping its total sales lead over Wii U's biggest title of the year for over a month, wow; MK8 will have longer legs, but I would have figured those legs would have gotten itself past WD by now)...odd week.

Wii U seems to have had it's least substantial drop in several weeks; they could be leveling off at higher sales. Nintendo better keep on their toes if they want to keep their sales from being back at pre-MK8 levels.

Well, Watch Dogs was one of the most awaited games of the last years, and on top of that the PS4 is more popular, so I wouldn't be that surprised.

I did read your comment, i don't find it strange at all Watch is selling good for a new IP considering the amount of hype it has had and the PS4 sales are around 2 miilion higher then the Wii-U which means MK8 has a higher attach rate.

WiiU posesses superior software, and it's not even a close race. To hell with software sales, all I'd be playing is AC or COD, because that's what sells.

Nothing on ps4 is worth the purchase. Second Son is 'OK'. But I'm still awaiting greatness.

The Wii had a 100 million install base by the end. Say a game comes out and sells 5 million in the first couple of weeks. It continues to sell because there is still 95 million potential customers. The Wii U doesn't have that install base. Eventually most people who have a Wii U will own Mario Kart 8 and then the sales will plummet.

Watch Dogs, a game available on five different platforms only outsold Wii U's most important exclusive by a few thousand. And Wii U's decline from last week to this week is hardly even significant. Once again, all current generation systems are outselling their previous generation counterparts. Also seeing a 55% increase on Vita is awesome. :)

edit: Just double checked and it's just the PS4 version of Watch Dogs. My bad. WD did just come out in Japan and I heard it was doing pretty well over there.

@below Yup, just corrected myself. Watch Dogs did have a lot of hype around it and the new region release would definitely help boost its sales. It's not too shocking to me to be honest. I'd be more shocked if Mario Kart was selling way below the numbers, but the difference isn't too big.

edit: Well, I expected two things; Wii U to see another steep drop in sales and MK8 (a universally praised game) to surpass Watch Dogs Ps4 (A game with rather mixed reactions) as WD dropped off in sales. I was shocked on both accounts. I mean, seriously, why the big uptick in WD sales that week?

Wii U sales were UP 11% last week in the USA according to vgchartz so go spin that.

I was wrong that they were headed back to pre-MK8 numbers; they seem to have leveled off at ~60K/wk WW (although, it's only been two weeks; it'll take another 2 or 3 weeks before I really agree to this being a trend). But I was right about it falling behind Xbone again.

You keep on rehashing the same thing with Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8. There has been many other games that were new IPs that came out in previous year where Mario Kart didn't overttake them quickly. But by the end of the gen, Mario Kart whoops that a$$.

So there is no point of even bringing that up considering Mario Kart 8 is one of the fasting selling Mario Kart titles ever. it will sell for years, while Watch Dogs will be forgoten by the end of the year.

Nope, you're wrong. You need to do your research before blindly spewing such garbage. Going by VGC numbers:

US PS4 numbers (up until the 28th June):

163.901k

US X1 numbers (up until the 28th June):

144.226k

Even if you add on the week ending 5th of July, you get:

PS4 - 201.905k

X1 - 183.251k

But we all know VGC is garbage anyway, PS4 likely sold much more, which will be apparent when we get the NPD numbers, as always. Then we have the upcoming PS4 bundles (Destiny, TLOUR, DriveClub), the PS4 ain't giving up that top spot any time soon, not even with the X1 matching it in price.

With every other comment in reference to Titanfall being dead, to see that it is still in the top 20 while games that came out around the same time are not is an accomplishment. The people(Sony super enthusiasts) on this site love to say the game is dead and stinking but these numbers tell a completely different story. It's July and the game is STILL moving units...and we can only guess how well it has done on the digital side of things.

There's a difference between the game not being dead in the sense that the game is still selling to new customers, and in the sense that no one talks about it or plays it any more.

In terms of the latter, it is pretty dead. Great game, just has no legs and is pretty shallow. Needs more content and more variety. Hopefully they address those issues in the sequel.

@Axios2: Since MS is advertising it as a new release, you'll see sales increase on the new XBO skew. But, it won't last long unless MS continues to promote it heavily, meaning loss of profits to keep the people up on it and forgetting about the PS4.

As it is, PS4 is selling with practically no marketing in the US, MS is spending millions on it to try and match. Seems like a Pyrrhic victory of sorts to me in the short run. MS needs to get things out there that will truly sell the consoles like crazy without losing money in marketing or other areas.

Well 3DS is a nice cheap piece of hardware among newer, more expensive ones with a lot of games to play on it. I got one just for Dream Team, Luigi's Mansion, Scribblenauts Unlimited, and a few other titles.

It will probably be like this awhile longer till PS4 gets games the Japanese actually want. But there will be another 3DS spike when Smash bros and, Pokemon hit so 3DS could very well stay top for quite awhile.
