GameSpot: Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Conspiracy Review

Since the release of The Bourne Identity in 2002, Robert Ludlum's titular amnesiac spy has thrilled movie audiences with fast, brutal combat and tense action sequences. When developer High Moon Studios set out to create a game starring Jason Bourne, it drew on the electric choreography of the movies as well as the robust world of Ludlum's novels. Perhaps this is why The Bourne Conspiracy shakes off the mantle of disappointment worn by most movie tie-in games and proves itself worthy of entry into the Bourne canon. The exciting and deeply awesome hand-to-hand combat system expertly captures the pugilistic prowess of the 30-million-dollar weapon and, while complemented by serviceable gunplay and rich environments, is reason enough to get in on this conspiracy.

The Good

* Simple, yet immensely satisfying fisticuffs
* Brutal takedowns
* Tense music and great sound effects
* Captures the excitement of the films.

The Bad

* Gunplay hamstrings replay value
* Collecting passports to unlock boss fights is tedious.

but today i was at my local mall and they still had a billboard for the last movie with the release date on it and i was thinking when the hell are they going to change that damn thing haha

lsujester5836d ago

That's awesome. I also love to see "Vote for *******" stay on a tree or side of the road until the NEXT election. Makes me want to hunt down whomever put it there, and slap them with the sign for never going to pick it back up.

ISA_Scum5835d ago

This game is getting scored like crap but to avoid another Kane and Lynch advertisement debacle (this game is all over Gamespot), they overscore it! I think this is one of, if not THE highest scores for this game.

I bet you all $10 that this anti-sony pile of poop site gives MGS4 an 8/10 aswell! They're just setting it up for one big insult.

MK_Red5835d ago

GameSpy also gave it 4/5 (8/10) but that was an exclusvie review.
I think neither this 8/10 or Destructoid's 3/10 are fair. The game is something in the middle.

Statix5835d ago (Edited 5835d ago )

Actually, this game has generally been getting pretty positive reviews. Gamespy game it a 4/5, and IGN a 7.5. TeamXbox gave it an 8.1. So this 8/10 by Gamespot isn't really out of place with the rest of the pack.

Ashton5835d ago

and they didn't mention a single thing,,,,remember Heavenly sword ?it got 8 only because of the 7 hours length

they are truly whore for money

MK_Red5835d ago

They really should have mentioned the too many QTEs among the cons.

Statix5835d ago

I actually rather liked the abundance of random QTE scattered through the demo. They upped the level of tension because it was you had to be alert at all times and react quickly.

MK_Red5835d ago

I know. They were rather intense but there were too many of them and sometimes they felt really random.

Macho Man5835d ago

I'm talkin bout, WRESTLEMANIA with MACHO MADNESS. This game was Bourne to blow because it's void of any real action and inside the ring drama, YEAH! OHHHH YEAAAHH!! Movie games are a curse and Macho Man is a blessing, YEAH.

Solid movie licensed game indeed. Its unfortunately another High Moon Studios release (i.e. Transformers & Deadpool) with little hopes of a re-release or remaster happening anytime soon, due to expiring license.

Six Activision Games I’d Like to See Revived Under Microsoft

As the world reels from the shockwaves of the seismic news that Microsoft is acquiring the proverbial swamp of the video-game landscape, Activision Blizzard King, it only seems natural that our minds should now shift towards what the fallout will be for presumably years if not decades to come.

Another Prototype would be awesome.

As for Singularity, I don't necessarily need a sequel, I just want to see Raven be able to flex their creative muscle again; not just be relegated to assisting with CoD. A lot of the old guard is still with the company.

That's part of what I'm hoping to see come from this acquisition. Revive teams like Vicarious Visions and Ravem to actually allow them to work on their own new projects again.

Crows90858d ago

As great as that would be the deal wont finalize until end of fiscal year 2023. Until after that date MS wont really have a say as to where resources will be spent. So we wont realistically see anything until perhaps 2026 or later.

LWOGaming857d ago

I think that’s a point that so many people are missing. Things will not change this year or next year at all. Maybe some changes might be apparent in 2024 but 2025/2026 is a good estimate of when things will really start happening. And I don’t think we will see as big a set of changes as some are suggesting.

TallDarknWavy858d ago

Those teams having not worked on anything, the employees find jobs at other companies, they don't just remain unemployed till someone at the publisher decides to revive the team, they need to eat lol

That said, this list of games makes me unexcited for anything outside of CoD that Activision has to offer. All games are in stale genres, like Guitar Hero, Simpsons Hit and Run, these are long surpassed genres that are going to be difficult to revive.

gamer7804858d ago

I want to see new IPs. Not a bunch of forced renovations of old franchises.

Gamer75858d ago

Why not a combination of both

gamer7804858d ago

@gamer75 if it is a combination it has to have my seal of approval. Such as a new Warcraft game or a new Warcraft mmo, or an action game based off the night elves orcs and humans if it’s a new IP. I’ll let you know after I talk with Microsoft

King_Noctis858d ago

Man I’ve been waiting for Protoype since the last one. Protoype could seriously be MS’ answer to Infamous (freaking loved that game as well, hope Sony make a new one soon).

porkChop858d ago

I'd love to see Raven take another crack at Heretic and Hexen.

MadLad857d ago

That's one I see being tossed around a lot to bring back, even if not from Raven themselves.

Put so many hours into those games over the years.

I'd like to see Activision get the Transformers license again and continue the War and Fall of Cybertron games. the movie games were crap and the game that combined both movie and Fall and War of Cybertron sucked a new Prototype would also be good as well.

jaymacx857d ago

You deserve a 1000 likes haha 😂. It’s a shame High Moon didn’t get to continue making Transformers. If they got a decent budget i think most of us TF fans would be excited.

Ms bought Activision and everybody dancing for what? For cod? Ms want to atleast earn some money Back from those 70 billion dollars.... The only thing they count on is more gamepass subscribers via Activision cod, diablo and over watch 2 1st Day free at gamepass. If they decide to make them exclusive to xbox they Will lose profit from ps4 and 5 sales. As For a New ip or an existing ip like over watch 3,diablo 5 or anything else like a New transformers Dont you think that developers need at least 3 years to Do something decent?
Anyway my opinion is that ms want to make videogaming Just a subscription a la netflix and that ps5 will beat xboxsx in sales like ps4 beat xbox and xbox one x..... All the money ms spending It Will defentily make more gamepass subscribers as for games we all must wait at least 3 more years... And thats why ps5 will get ahead in sales they have more AAA in the pipeline already plus lets see their answer for gamepass... P. S i Dont support subscriptions from neither company and i didnt buy switch plus for n64. If they give me the option to buy n64 games then yes i Will buy them but i am not paying for a rental.

Castlevania Lecarde Chronicles 2

http://the-mig-page.wifeo.c...

Just because it's an independent fan-made game doesn't mean it's not the greatest Castlevania title in over a decade. This masterpiece truly deserves to be played, but goes unnoticed 😔

Fist4achin2056d ago

Definitely some overlooked gems there. Shadows of the Damned was one of my top five favorite games from the last generation. Highly recommended just for the humor!

Teflon022056d ago

Gurumin A Monsterous Adventure. To this day I love that game. Like a light hearted more platformer than combat version of Threads of Fate. I don't know a single soul outside me and my brother that knows the game. sad because it's one of my favourite PSP games I played even on Vita alot. Now I play the PC version a bit lol

The_Sage2056d ago

I have Dante's Inferno, but I've never paid any of the others. Too few people have played Ico. Still one of my favorite games. As for a game that no one seems to have heard of but me... Undergarden is great. Hard to describe. Watch a vid and you'll see.
