No More Fanservice Games Apart From Senran Kagura, Says Xseed

Siliconera:
"In the wake of games like Valhalla Knights 3 and Senran Kagura, Xseed have developed a bit a reputation for being a publisher of “fanservice” games. Over on their Facebook page, a user asked what other fanservice titles the company plans to license."

Just keep things like Ys, Corpse Party, Way of the Samurai, etc. coming and I'll be happy.

I'm satisfied with only Senran Kaguraz hopefully we'll get another Shinovi Versus.

I hope they bring all of the Senrans over, Shinovi Versus, The cooking one, and the new 3ds one.

GamingBuddha093616d ago

i think they are bringing over the cooking one as well.

Perhaps this is a sign that moe is dying on japan? god i hope so.

japanese anime style rpg´s need to be cool again...

Inception3616d ago

Did you hate moe style (the looks) or moe personality? Because a lot of "cool" JRPG back in the SNES-PS1 era also had moe characters. Even Zelda have some kind of moe vibe in it.

Personally i like moe characters if it done right. Example like Philia Felice from Tales of Destiny, Rei Ayanami from Evangelion, or Arale from Dr Slump.

And moe will not die. It is one of the biggest signature of japanese video game, manga, and anime. It has strong follower all over the world too. So i doubt if the genre will die.

e-p-ayeaH3616d ago

i mean moe in general i dont mind moe if its just a couple of characters but not the whole game filled with that stuff!

Moe as far i understand are shows that insist on putting fem teen characters with colorfull hair with anoying personalities.

contradictory3616d ago

this is japan we're talking about here...
you REALLY think moe will die?

but yeah, ultimately i want the same thing as you.
i'm just saying that moe will always be creeping in the distance somewhere.....haha, i've come prepared.
intensive amounts of really embarrassing anime have helped. i'm straight and i can totally withstand your bullshit Japan!! mwhahahahaahah!

...i wish i was kidding

e-p-ayeaH3616d ago (Edited 3616d ago )

Well ppl clearly want cool stuff like Attack on Titan where the characters actually look cool and normal not colorfull and anoying.

Why we dont see games trying to capture that style instead?

Didn't RF5 already release in Japan half-baked and full of framerate and loading issues? Did they fix anything?

Story Of Seasons (And Success) - An Interview With XSEED Games' President, Ken Berry

From The Gamer: "2020 was a banner year for video game publisher XSEED, releasing nine different titles over the course of the year while exceeding previous highest-sales and fastest-selling records worldwide. This is all especially impressive given the fact that it happened during such an unprecedented year for the industry.

2020 was also the first time that I played a game released by XSEED, Granblue Fantasy: Versus, which led to me playing even more titles including Ys: Memories of Celceta, Kandagawa Jet Girls, and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, the latter of which ended up as one of my top-ten games 2020. I’m officially all-in on XSEED titles and I can’t wait to experience everything that the Marvelous subsidiary has planned for this year."
