They seem to be focusing mainly on the visuals...with sports games (or any game IMO) it should always be more focus on the gameplay and AI than how good it looks. And both Fifa and PES have fallen way short in gameplay in recent years.
I think the competition have become stale - it needs a new dev to spice things up. Licences aren't important to me. They could just give the game an in depth create mode, so long as the gameplay is great I couldn't care less about the names of the teams.

for sports games that are released each year - because generally there's very little difference they should release a questionnaire each time so they can drastically improve each game.
Even if they only had 4 'top 5' questions they would get millions of pieces of information to improve the game

Fifa 14 has caused me so much frustration. I stopped playing it. Too many bugs and collisions were messed up.

Extremely frustrating. It feels like you are controlling a rock. I hope they bring it back like in FIFA 12. That game was perfect in player control and dribbling.

AND THE REFEREES! Instead of making one referee-AI who is always right, they made different ones who are all wrong most of the time. I'm so glad I sold my FIFA14 copy before it's price dropped.

@Zod - agreed, the officials are one of my major gripes with Fifa. The linesmen are 'never wrong' even when there's only millimetres in it (and they're never in line to be able to see that), they need to add some human error decisions to the game, that would improve it - even if it does create some frustrating scenarios.

They could atleast fix the team AI players to move out the damn way when I'm taking shots or not to run directly in front of me when I'm on the break or not to be completely offside when I clear a ball from the box.

Yeah, the AI team mates never seem to look for space, they always seem to want to get in your way, which only succeeds in ruining your momentum.

Since I played FIFA 14 I will be giving 15 a skip and wait for 16 or maybe even 17, at which point there should be enough differences from 14 to be worth it.

Sounds like you have studied the EA formula. It usually does take them at least two years to find their feet on a new console or after some engine change.

Fifa 14 can be frustrasting as hell. Sometimes its ok, but trying to move around sometimes is soooooo slow. I dont mean i want it super fast or anything. Its just sometimes unrealistic. You can want to just turn around or move to the side and it feels like your in quick sand or something. Also when you play the computer, you can have 2 players completely covering the player and they can dodge and move much faster than you and create a goal from nothing. Not to mention your own defenders running and tripping over each others feet to leave the defence exposed and an easy goal. Lol
