PlayStation Plus and Games with Gold Have Hit a Lull

Hardcore Gamer: Though complaining about free stuff is the epitome of a “first world problem,” PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live Gold users should feel somewhat disappointed over July’s $0 current-gen offerings. Sure, each service is receiving some high-quality titles, but there are some slightly troubling caveats that come with them.

No, not really. PS+ is great and Games with Gold is getting better.

I agree. The ppl complaining either don't like indies or already got the older retail games. Both sure can get you quite a lot of fun or already did!

Both services currently cater more the ppl who don't buy games at day one and do not have the money to buy a lot of games. For those who buy a game from time to time and can wait for most of the games be released on gold or PS+ the service is the best rental service around (XBOX360 get games to keep, PS+ offering can offer 1-2 more games more each month for new gen consoles + 2 titles for vita if you own it)

Of course those who love indies this is currently heaven :D

People are expecting new games to be offered, or "AAA" titles and if we take a look, there aren't that many... I wouldn't expect a "AAA" until september or october for both services.

Don't use that lame, cliched argument again, it carries literally zero weight when you look at 360 restrictions on silver accounts.

@TimeSkipLuffy - I love indie games, but that doesn't mean that I always want indie games as my PS+ experience. I loved Resogun, enjoyed Contrast, beat Outlast again (had it for PC), Don't Starve, Dead Nation was great. Lately though the games have just not been up to par personally.

Pixeljunk is fun somewhat, but I grew a little tired of it, not exactly super deep.

Got bored with Mercenary Kings, stopped playing Stick it to the Man. And don't get me started on next month's PS+ games.

Obviously most of us are waiting for the time when we can finally get AAA games on the PS4 PS+. We know it's all coming, but the games they are choosing to put in as placeholders are not the most ideal games for me.

Of course. I want AAA retail games, too. But neither Sony nor MS promised what kind of games we get (maybe PS+ Europe said something about games with only a certain meta score). We are offered (rental) games to play for less than $3 to $5 a month (you can get PS+ at almost half the price at least once every year).

They provide us with games. Of course we should complain and try to get more and better games or games we like but some complaining is just going overboard like they have promised us an AAA game each month.

I am fine with buying what I want. I really hope this doesn't lead to me having to pay more in the long run. I don't expect to get much out of this free stuff as I am picky and unorthodox in games I like to play.

On the PS4 ps+ is ok, I mean I understand they can't just start giving us big games so early in the generation but right now the free games every month are just decent not anything amazing yet.

PS+ for the PS4 has been quite disappointing so far. I essentially got PS+ for the games that normally come with it, not for the multiplayer.
I don't have Games with Gold, but the games offered until now seem to be in the same boat as PS+.

I hope one company or the other starts pushing for better games... and see if at least one of those services improve.

You're insane. The games for July are bad ass. Strider and Towerfall: Ascension for the PS4 plus Muramasa Rebirth and Doki Doki Universe on the Vita.

Those are four solid titles. If you can't appreciate those then you're expecting too much.

or those aren't my styles of games. Doki Doki Universe and bad ass are two things I wouldn't put in the same sentence. Don't care for games like Muramasa. I will play Towerfall because it looks pretty cool, but I'm not going to be pouring 10+ hours into that game. And Strider looks like a game I will burn through once.

Again, just my personal tastes. We all differ.

Yeah the people complaining about PS+ are stupid. Plus feeds 3 different platforms on one subscription and is the reason why there is Games with Gold.

There's nothing free here been given, we all pay the fees in order to use the service, I'd much rather have no matchmaking and be able to play on privately hosted servers if I had the chance.

So hell yeah we'd like to see better content been given to us.

I have been paying for xbox live since the beginning of the service and I have always thought it was good value . Thanks to Sony it's now much better value.

I have spent 3x more money than a yearly xbox live subscription on giving myself a hangover.
I challenge them to show better value for the small amount live or psn costs considering we are talking about 20 to 30 FREE games a year. OMG

I pay every month to get these games so no they aren't free. Also it's a competitive world, that's why corporations are giving stuff away, they want your custom and it's an incentive.. Some of us just want the corporations to try harder. Which is a good thing.

Well, technically PS+ is 72 games a year but I get your point and agree with it (even more so since there's more games) I literally can't finish all of the games I've been given. Between work and family the laws of game physics no longer bend to my will that way.

On the PS3/Vita, IGC is amazing. For PS4/Xbox One there are only so many quality games available on the system in the first six months, so it's not like you're gonna get huge AAA titles for free right off the bat. Patience.

People who attack complainers... yah it may be unreasonsable to expect AAA titles this early in a console life cycle... but do you think if everybody was posting about how awesome the smaller titles are and how happy they are with them that Sony or Microsoft would start giving out AAA games out of their good heart? For Microsoft users the deal was always that they paid for the right to play online and games were a freebie that Microsoft could take away at any time....

but in PS3/Vita the deal was that we were paying for games, games were the main dish.... now Sony is moving toward the Microsoft model where one pays for online and games are secondary.. that's good for those who like playign online... I don't I take free AAA games over the ability to party chat or network stability any day because I don't play online.... and I know there are lot of PS3/Vita subscriber who would rather PS+ to keep the quality of games it had during the PS3/Vita era rather than become a copy of Xbox Live..... all we can do now is let our voices heard

Whatever. Gamers seem to whine and complain more than they play games now-a-days.

Guac is a great game and is free on day one for its xb debut, max is awesome (even if it is 2 months in a row), strider is fun, and towerfall is awesome as well.

There is a good 15-20 hours of gameplay for gamers between those 4 games. And it is all quality hours.
