Suzuki: "if circumstances and opportunities are right, I'm ready to create Shenmue 3"

GR-UK writes: "We talked with Yu Suzuki at Gamelab today, and of course the subject came up regarding Shenmue 3. We asked him what would need to happen for the game to become a reality.

"I made Shenmue - the first chapter - fourteen years ago, so it has been a long time. But still people remember that and they ask for Shenmue 3 too, so it's a very, very nice thing for me. So if the circumstances and opportunity are all right, I'm sure I'm ready to create that."

There have been so many rumors about Shenmue 3 since such a long time that I do not want to believe anything anymore.

darthv723599d ago

i'd love for him to continue the story or at least create a final installment that closes any loose ends.

in the mean time, hey Yu...how about a nice HD compilation of 1&2????

It will never happen long as SEGA owns the franchise

Inb4 exclusive to Wii-U...

Sega, damn sellouts.

randomass1713599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

Oh stop complaining. I'd rather the game get made as an exclusive to a console I don't own than not at all.

DigitalRaptor3599d ago (Edited 3599d ago )

I would LOVE it to be exclusive to the Wii U.

There are arguments for and against, but I would love to see the gamepad implementation, like we saw with the VMU on Dreamcast, but in much more depth.

It's more likely to be PS4 exclusive, if anything. Unless Xbone somehow makes hell freeze over by being popular in Japan, it would have to be on a hugely successful console globally (PS4), with Suzuki being good associates with Yoshida and Cerny (PS4), and Sega having history making a "similar" game in Yakuza on PS2 and PS3.

The Yakuza HD collection bombed on Wii U, so if that didn't do well, it's sad to say Shenmue has no chance being successful enough on that console. Shenmue II bombed on Xbox, and putting it on Xbone exclusively is madness.

PS4 kinda makes sense. If it happens it will either be multiplatform or PS4 exclusive: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Thanks for the Shenmue coverage n4g!

I think we will get Shenmue 3 by end of this generation!

Dannyh3599d ago

I doubt it, sega is the one company I would be guilty of being called a fanboy of. And the days of sega putting games out like they did back in the day ended on xbox and ps2. So many great games they have and nothing. Shenmue 3 wouldn't be the same game anyways now that AM2 is done. But I hope you are correct about it coming this generation

Never say never, I really didn't expect to ever see Space Marine 2 and 12 years later its almost here.
So there is still hope for all these games.

I've completed 5 of the games on the list, but the author forgot to include Advent Rising. It was supposed to be a trilogy, but it bombed hard, and the two sequels never got made. It was Mass Effect, a console generation before Mass Effect.

The game is buggy and unpolished, it needed a few more months of development, but the potential was there. At the end of the game, you have all these super abilities, I remember the stomp attack that created a shockwave being especially powerful.

I personally think days gone will recieve some sort of sequel at some point. I'm personally also hoping it's not the rumored multiplayer online stuff. I'd think most that enjoyed it would rather thisnto.

Sony needs to dust off Sly Cooper and Days Gone so needs a sequel two of my favorite Sony titles. Bulletstorm I love great game wish it also got a sequel. And I wish Namco would finally give Enslaved a sequel another great game.
