Suzuki: "if circumstances and opportunities are right, I'm ready to create Shenmue 3"

I would LOVE it to be exclusive to the Wii U.

There are arguments for and against, but I would love to see the gamepad implementation, like we saw with the VMU on Dreamcast, but in much more depth.

It's more likely to be PS4 exclusive, if anything. Unless Xbone somehow makes hell freeze over by being popular in Japan, it would have to be on a hugely successful console globally (PS4), with Suzuki being good associates with Yoshida and Cerny (PS4), and Sega having history making a "similar" game in Yakuza on PS2 and PS3.

The Yakuza HD collection bombed on Wii U, so if that didn't do well, it's sad to say Shenmue has no chance being successful enough on that console. Shenmue II bombed on Xbox, and putting it on Xbone exclusively is madness.

I doubt it, sega is the one company I would be guilty of being called a fanboy of. And the days of sega putting games out like they did back in the day ended on xbox and ps2. So many great games they have and nothing. Shenmue 3 wouldn't be the same game anyways now that AM2 is done. But I hope you are correct about it coming this generation

I got lost in the world of Shenmui when I was younger. It's honestly one of the best games I've ever experienced. It would be great if they make a 3rd. I'd also love to see the first two remastered for current gen.

A Shenmue I/II HD collection with cross-save for PS4/Vita would be too good to be true. no Platinum trophy until you've collected all the capsule toys AND defeated Chai =D

I think an HD ver of the first two would be better business-wise. Its doesn't cost much and will show publishers if people really want a 3rd game.

The problem is now how are people's reaction going to be to a new Shenmue? People would now compare it to a new game like Watch Dogs and GTA.. It was much easier back then on Dreamcast because this was before any 3D GTA's or many open world games were around. And obviously back then the hardware only allowed so much, so they can do a lot more these days.

Only way around it is to make it much more open than the originals, it doesn't have to be really huge, just big enough. Plus they will likely cram a lot more stuff in you can do on the side like the arcade games etc in the originals..
