DICE Unsure Why People Like Battlefield: Bad Company

Battlefield fans have been getting a lot of attention from EA and DICE. With the shelving of Medal of Honor, Battlefield has become EA’s only go-to military shooter. Still, there’s a fan request that has gone unanswered.

Bravo, DICE. You guys prove once again that you're totally clueless nowadays. There are several reasons why people loved Bad Company.
-It had legitimate destruction
-Well balanced gameplay
-Non-serious, goofy tone
-There weren't a billion unnecessary unlocks(aka simplicity)

Need I go on? If they ever make a sequel, I hope they realize what made the first two stand out and they take their damn time with it.

Fluke_Skywalker3600d ago

Good funny story and excellent multiplayer maps.
That's what I loved anyway.

Captain Qwark 93600d ago

exactly, one of the few campaigns with good characters and worth playing through.

level design was also miles better than any battlefield after them

BC and BC2 were far better games than BF3 and 4. apparently they have become retarded at DICE....i gues in their relentless pursuit to copy COD they have lost their identity

Salooh3600d ago

Yeah , i enjoyed the single player of bad company more then battlefield 3 and 4 single player combined . But never tried the online . I love the multiplayer on 3 and 4 though despite their problems. I always try to avoid noticing problems in games lol . So i'm having a different experience than most people xP ..

NewMonday3600d ago (Edited 3600d ago )

- Bad Company 2 maps were tight, balanced for 24 players

- had the best Rush mode in BF games

- vehicles more friendly to handle

- weapons and control felt better

- better damage balance

- better destruction

- objects easier to make out

b163o13600d ago

Just bring us BC3, I was looking for this before BF4 tbh, Just make sure the game isn't broken went it releases....

AliTheSnake13600d ago (Edited 3600d ago )

I don't get it either. I know I'll probably get a lot of dislikes but I'm just stating my opinion and people should respect that. Battlefield 3 and 4 are way better than bad company. I don't understand how people think bc2 campaign is better than BF3 or BF4. Story is weak, production value is close to nonexistent. No epic set piece moments. Reminds me of people who prefer cod 4 campaign over mw2 and say black ops. Really weird, given the facts that the new installments are superior in every aspect; story, production, voice acting, score, environments, characters, villains....

I don't understand why people prefer bc2 multiplayer either. I myself love bf3/bf4's multiplayer and prefer it over bc2. For example first comment said that he likes the bc multiplayer because :
"-It had legitimate destruction" You're telling me bf4 has no destruction ? yes in bc2 you could destroy everything , but the maps were flat meaningless shit.
"-Well balanced gameplay" I don't understand how bf3 and bf4 are not balanced
"-There weren't a billion unnecessary, unlocks(aka simplicity)" You don't have to think about unlocking anything. Unlocking stuff and getting rewards is part of the fun in any game for me.

I think that a big part of the reason some people prefer bc2 over bf3 and bf4 is that they played it when they were younger.

DeadIIIRed3600d ago

Ali, the main installments went backwards in terms of a main feature (destruction). Running through a town while tanks and rockets destroy all the buildings around you was such a satisfying experience that BF3 and 4 were almost dissapointing.

denawayne3600d ago

Bring back mortar strikes called in by Recon.

BattleAxe3600d ago (Edited 3600d ago )

Bad Company 1 had one of the best FPS single player campaigns last generation hands down. Although short on game modes, BC1 also had some amazing multiplayer maps.

Bad Company 2 was also fantastic with an improved multiplayer suite, but I have to admit that I didn't like the single player campaign anywhere near as much as BC1.

I would love to see EA release Bad Company 1 on Origin so that PC players can experience the awesome characters and open world single player action. I was really disappointed that EA never released BC1 as a digital download on PS3.

Overall, I prefer the Bad Company series over the main Battlefield series. In fact, I still play Bad Company 2 on PC all the time.

CyberCam3600d ago

DICE should re-watch these videos they posted on their blog! A fellow named Norm360 made them and are the best video montages on BFBC2!

Oh man DICE... Really?

Come on' are you even playing your own games..

Why don't they just REMASTER Bad Company 2 and give us that, instead of the broke BF4 skin pack Hardline.

I would love to play Bad Company 2 on PS4 with new improved graphics, and keep everything the same, all game mechanics how they were.

When ever a Game Company is clueless on why something is good or why it works, Guess what you should do???

Ask your consumers.... -How did DICE become so clueless..

SamPao3600d ago (Edited 3600d ago )

I didn't like BadCompany 2 tbh. Is it better than BC? Because I kinda liked that one and finished it.
Maybe I was just tired of Shooters at the time I played BC2

b163o13600d ago

Understandable, FPS have flooded the market last gen

Iamnemesis48803600d ago

Bad company is still fun to play

LonDonE3600d ago (Edited 3600d ago )

Bad company 2 online took skill to dominate and a good player could own, this how its supposed to be!
BF3 and BF4 just dumbed the game down, for instance stinger missiles which take no skill easily shoot down choppers, in BC2 it took skill to shoot down the chopper! and it took skill to fly well and dominate in the chopper!
It also takes skill to fly well etc in BF3 and BF4 but the problem is the chopper is too easily killed!
I think BF3 and BC2 were balanced allot better and the maps were light years better then BF4!

Also i think the control's were more snappy and responsive and more arcade like, i think BF3 and BF4 and overly complex with regards to guns attachments etc. Its over kill! I loved BC2 but it was ruined later in its life with the net code patch which lowered the server tick rates.
Its the same problem with BF4 which had a bad tick rate and is only being addressed now!

But even with its problems i LOVED BF3! sank hundreds of hours into it, the gun on gun combat was much better in BF3 over BF4! grenade spamming has to stop, it has ruined BF4! and the guns in general feel and handle like crap compared to BF3 and BC2!

I would buy BC2 remastered in 1080p 60fps and BF3 remastered in 1080p 60fps for the PS4 any day of the week!!

XabiDaChosenOne3600d ago

The unlocks in BF4 are retarded, forcing me to play with weapons I don't like to unlock weapons that I do like.

Bad company was fun Dice that all you need to know.

user74029313600d ago

its all about the gameplay thats why!!

LOL_WUT3600d ago

Real upfront knifing, shotgun sniping, UAV, destruction it was an overall better franchise compared to BF3 and 4 ;)

colt-of-tipton3600d ago

Well DICE for starters the characters are far more memorable and actually funny because of that the campaign was a joy to play. Then in multiplayer actual destruction that I cause, not crappy set piece "levolution" aswell as fantastic map design, that's why DICE .

EA Hopes to Use Generative AI to Drive Monetization and Make Development 30% More Efficient

Today Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson provided a look into his ideas for the use of generative AI in the company's development processes.

I wonder what the next buzz word they'll slap in front of AI to make it sound exciting next? "Generative" as if it's creating its own content. Lol.

Cacabunga56d ago

EA is already dying a painful death..

peppeaccardo56d ago

i have a better idea .. why the whole exec team doesn't get replaced by chat bots ?

just_looken57d ago

Though i agree the ai thing is already in other forms of media there have been ai translations/scripts/voice over and even full ai commercials aired on tv. Ubisoft has created a ai game creator story/vo/music except the building of the game

The new unreal engine has auto terrain creation tools

In the world of greed in which it is winning without any major blow back ai is our future.

everyone want's biden dead on the mic or a criminal instead of a woman and now we are getting ai everything because no one will stop watching/playing ai created media.

GamerRN56d ago

Maybe they should just focus on making good games?

Just a thought...

Kiryu199256d ago

Exactly EA are just pure evil. When they are beating Bank of America to be voted the worst company to work for that’s saying a lot

Good thing I don’t buy their games day one and wait for deep deep sale years after launch (the select few games I am actually interested in)

Gaming is making so much money yet the greed of these companies is never ending

CEO’s and people on board making millions yet cutting jobs to those who are actually making the products

EA is still a shady shitty company even with or without the help of Skynet. All they will use AI for is new ways to milk loot boxes and come up with the same sports title with a different year on the label. They are one company I truly do hate with a passion. They single handedly ruined some great franchise with their death touch. ME, Dead Space, Alice Returns, Dante's Inferno.

EA layoffs followed by 'Generative AI to Drive Monetization'

I knew it. Wonder what AI salary looks like? Nothing.

ChasterMies56d ago

I having a feeling that most of the layoffs in the industry are based on the idea that AI will do the same job for less.

DarXyde56d ago

Very likely, yes.

Made worse by the fact that the execs aren't changing their compensations.

My deepest fear at this point is that we are now in the capitalism endgame.

At this point, we really should just burn AI to the ground. Executives cannot be trusted to do the right thing.
How are those people expected to support families if everything gets automated?

Barlos57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

And take away creativity, and people's jobs as we've been seeing. Got it.

No thanks. I want my games created by people, not AI.

CobraKai57d ago

Exactly. If or when games start becoming more AI than people, im done with gaming. AI and companies like EA can suck donkey d***k.

just_looken57d ago

Though i agree remember this is no ps3/360 era were we got up to 3 games in one generation from on developer like gears/halo/bioware/sony/ms

The people today are pro esg/sweet baby for the most part AAA gaming is imploding right now.

We should be stepping back re evaluate everything as a whole this year xmen 97 written/directed by a woman that is nuts and its also being made by a group reshaping bodies to be less sexual like wtf. A dam famous cartoon from the 90's is being rebuilt with millions spent to be worse in everyway.

Gaming/movies/tv shows made today are worse than what we had 7years ago ai won't change this but that ai is also being made by these groups so either way we are screwed.
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Eonjay56d ago

Don't be of afraid of women. Sexy characters in games and movies still exist. Got my Stellar Blade on preorder!!! Everything all the time doesn't need to be sexual...that's stupid, childish and dull.

Chocoburger56d ago (Edited 56d ago )

EA doesn't want to lose their title of worst gaming company ever, always trying their best to remain the champs!
What's sad is that they have so much potential to be a decent publisher.

SSX Tricky / SSX 3
Def Jam Vendetta / Fight for New York
NBA Street
NFL Steet
Mirror's Edge
Bad Company
Burnout 3 / 4 / 5

Remember when EA used to be awesome? It's all over with now. Unpolished, if not out-right broken games these days. Endless monetization and gambling in their sports games, and let's not forget wasting hours of your life trying to unlock characters or equipment using "surprise boxes!"

EA - Continuing to evolve our business and teams

EA CEO Andrew Wilson writes: "In this time of change, we expect these decisions to impact approximately 5 percent of our workforce. I understand this will create uncertainty and be challenging for many who have worked with such dedication and passion and have made important contributions to our company. While not every team will be impacted, this is the hardest part of these changes, and we have deeply considered every option to try and limit impacts to our teams. Our primary goal is to provide team members with opportunities to find new roles and paths to transition onto other projects. Where that’s not possible, we will support and work with each colleague with the utmost attention, care, and respect. Communicating these impacts has already begun and will be largely completed by early next quarter."

LG_Fox_Brazil64d ago

All the big ones doing the same stuff. Terrible. I just hope that all these people are able to get a new job as soon as possible, God know that it is horrible to be left jobless when you have your kids or your parents depending on your financial help

just_looken64d ago

Another long list that skips over UPS cutting 12,000 jobs those workers as we know work without ac low pay and old box trucks but that company had to cut 12k jobs do too loosing billions of dollars year 2 year.

https://edition.cnn.com/202...

The greed and lack of transparency/oversight is disgusting.

Ups are still making bang but not enough for a golden boat fleet.

Remember we all use ups at some time even stuff in our stores this is going to be a huge issue gong forward i know in my area they removed half the state ups stores northern half least population got some 3rd party running packages now from minivans.

Sonic188163d ago

When I explan this I get called a troll 🤔 like wtf

thorstein63d ago

@just_looken

UPS is a different story altogether.

They are paying the people doing the actual work/ earning the money more and eliminating management.

You do realize around this time this happens all throughout many industries (not just the game industry), right? It has to do with taxes for these major companies, like tax subsidies for downsizing. You want to know a little secret? Around May or so you’ll see a spike in hiring…

It blows my mind that people are oblivious to corporate workings.

Andrew33664d ago

So over 25 huge companies cut jobs every year like this and it only got noticed this time?

CrimsonWing6964d ago (Edited 64d ago )

@Andrew336

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m saying. Google it up if you’re uninformed of how corporations work. Only gamers seem to live in a bubble and when they see things like crunch, acquisitions, and lay-offs they act like this is the only industry it happens to and how shocked they are about it.

Welcome to the real world, kid.

thorstein63d ago (Edited 63d ago )

EA CEO Wilson's total compensation was 20 million. Let's take away 19 million (I'm sure he can survive on 1 million.... somehow).

1 million is the salary of an in the chair developer @100,000 for 10 years.

He could earn 1 million a year.

And save the jobs of 15 in the chair devs for A DECADE (plus benefits) with ONE YEAR'S compensation.

RhinoGamer8864d ago

No Executive accountability or firings I see...

just_looken64d ago

Do not worry they will take over 40mill say sorry then get hired by playstation or xbox

blackblades63d ago

I heard Japan does it better, they do layoffs like what's happening with companies in the west. The higher ups also being agreeing to to lower there own salary. These MFs like jim and Phil isnt gonna do that they want that $

Sonic188164d ago

Like I said earlier, this is happening all around the gaming industry.

Petebloodyonion64d ago

The point I feel is problematic about all of this is that focusing on Owned Ip means more sequels, remasters and more of what was selling last year.

TheColbertinator64d ago

EA is certainly among the worst,if not the worst
