Before the convenience of purchasing a home gaming console, gamers used to have to take a trip to their local arcade to play their favorite games. Arcade machines relied on quarters for income, and most machines were rigged so players would almost certainly die at select moments so they’d be addicted toward beating the game. This is how arcades made their money, and this was how kids lost their allowance. R-Type Dimensions, a revisit of the two classic arcade games R-Type and R-Type II, is reborn with new graphics, new music, but it also allows you to play the game just how you remembered it growing up – minus all the money you had to cough up.
"When you think of classic shoot 'em ups, the top 2 series that likely come to mind are Gradius and R-Type so let's take an in-depth look at both franchises and see which one comes out on top." - A.J. Maciejewski from Video Chums
The September-announced R-Type Dimensions EX will launch for Switch via the Nintendo eShop and PC via Steam on November 28, developer Tozai Games announced. Here is an overview of the game, via its Steam page: About The coin-op classics, R-Type and R-Type II, are together on Steam!
aright, no real version then. switch is not an option for gamers and pc.. nah. it is no fun playing such ancient games on a pc. remastered or not. so i guess a big chance to cash in was lost here.
Rtype still is amazing, a timeless classic. Have the originals and Rtype Leo on my arcade cab.
Tozai Games today announced that R-Type Dimensions will be launching worldwide on Nintendo Switch and PC in late 2018.
Yes. I used to play Super R-Type all the time. Mostly due to the music but it was also fun. Hopefully this game will have a similar vibe.
Why not at Wii U or 3DS? I love that game....
