When Sonic Boom was announced in February, many Sonic fans were slightly taken aback. The character designs were jarringly different than anything the series had seen before, and the gameplay appeared quite different than any recent Sonic games. Developer Big Red Button has been quiet since then, but showed up at E3 this past week where Hardcore Gamer got a closer look at Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric, the Wii U version of the game.
Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "I’m a huge fan of the series and love to talk about its best games… but its hard to argue that it’s all been great for the blue blur. From games that were loaded with glitches, slow-paced gameplay, and visuals that look more like a blue blur of… pixels and polygons. So, take this as a warning to avoid these 10 worst Sonic games of all time."
Never played any of these on this list, surprised Sonic R isn't there, but then i played that on my first PC and didn't think it was that bad, got some mild enjoyment out of it at least.
Lost World, Black Knight, Forces and Chronicles should not be on that list, I can easily think of worse.
Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Eraser, Sonic R, these are all way worse than the games on this list. Knuckles Chaotix was terrible as well, I hated the way you had to control the players, it was a pain in the ass. Even games like Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball and Rivals 1 and 2 which I thought were decent were worse than some of the games on this list.
To be brutally honest, most of the Game Gear and Master System Sonic games are pretty awful too. Sonic Chaos on the Game Gear for example, you can't even see what you are doing because the field of view is so bad.
I would rather play Sonic 06 than any of the games I listed above, and that game is classed as the worst Sonic game of the lot.
People have nostalgia glasses on when they think about old 2D Sonic games. Outside of the mainline games on the Mega Drive, most of them were worse than the modern day 3D games.
There is definitely some worse games than Lost World,
The guy who wrote this definitely didn't dig enough into the franchise history haha
General question.
Is your favorite Sonic game the first one you played?
If not, is you favorite the same style as your first? (3D, 2D, some other distinction?)
I disagree with Sonic Forces on that list but the others are correct.
Sonic Forces is hella under rated.
With Nintendo Switch doing better by the day, Screen Critics looks back at the absolute worst of third party games from Wii U.
Article says it's about third party Wii U games, yet Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival & Pokemon Rumble U are on this list.
one of the worst Wii U games I've ever played was Deus Ex. It's not by any means a terrible game, but the Wii U port was a massive disappointment with a weird control scheme and an abysmal framerate of like 20fps at best.
It's crazy how hard Devil's Third tanked. Don't think Itagaki's going to really recover from that one.
These villains are so bad…and not in a good way. Join WatchMojo as they countdown their picks for the Top 10 Worst Villains In Video Games.
What the heck is Sega thinking with this? Why can't they stop ruining this series? Christ, Nintendo makes solid Mario after solid Mario and it feels like Sega is going out of their way to make Sonic terrible.
It looks terrible, they tried to wow everyone with it's fancy new graphics but I'm glad people are seeing through that
I get it though...people want a good Sonic game again. I do aswell but I can't lie about something
Not to mention the designs are horrible, obviously though that's just one problem the game has out of many
They really need to stop experimenting with Sonic.
The Ring System - Sonic and the Secret Rings
The Sword - Sonic and the Black Knight
Warehog - Sonic Unleashed
The Wisps - Sonic Colours
Episodes - Sonic 4
Mini Games - Mario and Sonic
Racing Hover Board Game - Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity
I think Sonic Generations was the only decent one in recent years which didn't have a gimmick at all. I enjoyed the Classic Sonic levels so much.
The only ones defending this garbage are the enablers. Every time i see people give valid criticism of this game, the enablers are the first ones to react with the same argument, "Oh, you're just a sonic hater or you just have too much nostalgia" which neither of those aren't true.
I really enjoy those HD Sonic 4 games. There's rumors of a Sonic movie soon.
Since it's just a spin-off and not a part of the main canon, I'm willing to give it a shot.
I don't think it's one of those games that I can give a fair judgement to before having tried it.
