Far as I was aware it's the same as ultra on PC and in 1920 X 1080.

Thats nice but the game will be two years old on PC when this arrives for console and it wasn't that much of a looker in the first place if we are completely honest.

So PS4 should be able to run it pretty decently 2 years after the thing arrived.

It's an online game. This sort of game usually evolves over the years even just on PC. They add visual revamps in massive client downloads etc. They already did some since the game launched way back when on PC.

they totally went back in and redesigned PS2 for the PS4.

PS2 ran like CRAP for a long time on PC but instead of fixing those issues they concentrated on the PS4 version.

I have no problem with it as PS2 PC is loosing it community because of the stagnant updates due to the PS4 release and I'm playing Firefall a lot more along side BF4 PC anyway.

This statement will not be taken well by some on this site.

I believe if we take the emotion away from the assessment of what was said, his statement may indicate that they may have added better effects, optimized animations, maybe tweaked the visuals overal. All these things can make a game look "better" in a lot of ways.

Overall, the takeaway from this should be that the PS4 is a very capable console, and one that should provide its users with plenty of playing options going forward. If they can make this happen, I can just imagine if they decide to revive MAG for the PS4..... EPIC.

My nephew was all about this game, so I can't wait to try it out. I just hope people actually start using the FREE microphones that were included with their PS4s.

The right way is saying that
A)The dev didn't optimize properly on the PC side or just stopped after a certain point. An Hd 7950 has 2.87 teraflops and 3gb gddr5. A 1.8 teraflop ps4 shouldn't look better

B)no doubt its easier to optimize on consoles, and the extra time allowed the Dev to make graphical changes.

C)I doubt the differences will be HUGE as the title suggests. If they are, then what is the point of PC development because devs no longer show that they care about it

Honestly, I seriously fail to believe this at all.

PC has a lot of graphical quality settings, making this statement completely rubbish or open for debate.

Planetside 2's engine is demanding. It's got nothing at all to do with optimization. You need a VERY beefy machine to get it to run on Ultra.

It's also incredibly CPU dependent.

Also, they haven't told us what kind of PC it can look better than. If they've taken a mid-ranged PC with 5 year old tech, then yeah, MAYBE.

Unless they have altered the engine, which means it's not even the same game any more, then there is 100% no way it will look better.

This is typical SOE and Sony marketing hype bollocks to make the PS4 look more powerful than it is.

True, i have a mid average PC, you can tweak all the visuals an a .ini file, THEN you can make the game look amazing, far better than the Ps4 version. and even my PC runs the game at 40 fps.

One thing that many PC gamers just don't understand is throwing more hardware, higher resolution isn't going to automatically make a game look better. It will look SHARPER, sure. But a game with crap visuals will still look like crap with ultra settings. Just sharper and more crisp crap.

A much bigger factor in how good a game looks is the quality of the artwork in it. What they are saying is they added better quality artwork to the PS4

Planetside 2 was a shadow of the previous game, so this doesn't surprise me at all. It's also why i completely lost interest in the game.

I can tell a difference between the 720p and 1080p vids on youtube, and if we're talking about the game's true potential, then what's to stop a 720p from looking as good as 1080p title...? especially when there are more effects or post processing being done due to the lower rez overall.

Planetside 2 on PC only uses DX9 and the devs outright refuse to upgrade it to DX11. Comparing the PS4 version (witch uses api with similar features to that of DX11) to the DX9 PC version is not a fair comparison. SOE just shot themselves in the foot with that statement and they will loos a lot of players because of this.

Lets just hope the PC version gets a DX11 boost.

Seem understandable they been working on this version for the longest. PS2 is not the gfx benchmark it use to be. Not really sure what they are going to do to make look better in gfx you basically fight in mountains. Redone models, textures, better effects? Sound like PR. Uh...because no hardware on the market or software currently exists to replicate real life like a "blu ray movie". Granted PC will always have the newest and best in terms of graphical evolution, so when it does reach that point in technology PC will have it for awhile before anything else.
