Nintendo Came in Strong and Left with a Victory at E3

Kuma wrote: I came into the conference hoping for something great from Nintendo and I have to admit these guys know how to have fun with their own product by making us the gamer understand what it is to be a part of your games. There is nothing like two of the main heads going into an all out battle to demonstrate the new features of the upcoming Smash Bros title, but I am going to far ahead of myself right now, so please enjoy this shared thoughts on the Nintendo E3 Digital Show. Keep in mind I want to point out those games that really caught eye, but more will be talked about in tomorrows Video Cast.

No body else does it like Nintendo. They are truly the Nintendo Entertainment Company and make an Entertainment System. But at the end of the day they entertained everyone better than anyone else at E3 this year.

nicksetzer13641d ago

No question nintendo won this year for me.
:
:
I'd say:
Nintendo>MS>Sony
This year at e3

NatureOfLogic_3641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

Nintendo did great. I'm getting a WiiU. I really think Nintendo sealed at least second place for the gen. Nintendo could give Sony a scare for first with Zelda only imo. Xbox One will remain in last place for the gen. When they announce that WiiU sold more than Xbox One next NPD, Nintendo can keep that momentum going forward.

Snookies123641d ago

I dunno, speaking of just straight up conferences, Nintendo might have won. However, for an experience, I really enjoyed Sony's. It had some boring moments, but there were a ton of games shown off with jaw-dropping visuals. I just like that they rented out movie theaters and gave tickets for free. That was really awesome, great atmosphere being with fans of gaming and hearing everyone applaud for awesome games. Kinda like being right there with the E3 crowd.

nicksetzer13641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

Too many games were 3rd party at the ps4 event. Only AAA exclusives we know of are the order, uncharted 4, LBP3 (also on ps3), bloodbourne, driveclub and tlou remastered.
:
Xbox - sunset, fable legends, crackdown, halo collection, halo 5, phantom dust, scalebound, forza horizon 2 (also on 360, but completely different game almost), KI season 2.
:
Nintendo - mario party, SSB, zelda, hyrule wariors, yarn yoshi, mario creator, bayonetta etc.

MSBAUSTX3641d ago

You just said that sony had a better experience and then said it was boring at times. Cant be both my friend.

Utalkin2me3641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

I have to disagree. Nintendo pretty much showed everything we already knew. And had a general idea of how things probably would look.

Sony, surprised with some visuals. MS somewhat surprised with solid titles. Ubisoft blew everyone away. This is my opinion, but i do own a Wii u and love what Nintendo brings to the table. But i wasn't very surprised with anything they shown, cause i knew they was going to show it.

randomass1713641d ago

You expected a clay Kirby, a non-violent multiplayer shooter and Star Fox? Dang, you've got some crazy foresight!

SavageKuma3640d ago

I didn't see any of that coming especially a Yoshi Yarn game? That was awesome and Splatoon looks fun as hell.

showtimefolks3641d ago

Nintendo had a very good conference but everything is still 2015 and beyond for a system that will be on market for 3 plus years by the times many of the games come out.

I hope for future Nintendo prepares better

X looked awesome, can't wait. I for one would love for Nintendo to make HD port of the original on wii.

Zelda well what can i say, i want it right now lol.

I for one am glad everyone had awesome news conferences

sony great(i like sony's offerings but to others sony may have not had the best conference, its personal preference)
ms very good
Nintendo very good
EA very good
UBI good(i didn't like that much stuff from UBI, the rainbow six in the end wasn't as thrilling as watch dogs or the division reveal.

overall been a great E3 so far

MSBAUSTX3641d ago

Smash, bayonetta 1 and 2, X, and hyrule warriors were all announced for this year and not 2015 my friend. Those are huge titles. So it wasnt all 2015.

Nintendo won E3 for sure this year!!

Killzoner993641d ago

Did you see the new Uncharted that Sony revealed? That alone won E3 . The new LBP looks better than anything Nintendo showed and now Nintendo is blatantly ripping off Sonys LBP with Mario Maker. Nintendos E3 was aimed at 10 year olds and they don't seem to know where they're going as a company. Sonys E3 made me proud to be a PS4 owner and I eagerly await greatness .

wonderfulmonkeyman3641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

The new LBP has nothing on Mario Maker, and the Uncharted reveal was CGI, not gameplay.

Xenoblade Chronicles X and Bayonetta 1 and 2 were most definitely not for children.

Devil's Third is about as far away from Childish as you can get, and Nintendo pulled that in as a Wii U EXCLUSIVE.

On top of all of that, that new shooter of theirs that uses ink to fight has a Team Fortress feel to its aesthetics that makes it feel absolutely awesome.

You've got to be the most jaded cynic on earth if you actually think Nintendo lost, let alone catered just to 10 year olds.
Especially after the reactions at the Smash Tournament kicked the crowd reactions of the other press conferences right to the damned curb with their enthusiasm.

The only thing Sony really had going for them was their preview of No Man's Sky.

That was the only true "greatness" to be had.

Nintendo destroyed everyone this year, and THAT WAS ON DAY ONE!
They've still got TWO MORE DAYS OF "THE TREEHOUSE" ANNOUNCEMENTS, REVEALS, AND INTERVIEWS TO GO!

Nintendo had the most hype, and the best reactions, of E3, and that's just day 1.

Get hyped or get salty, but don't get in denial.

JohnathanACE3641d ago

LOL the new little Big Planet looked better than anything Nintendo showed? I'm sorry but as big of a LBP fan I am Yoshi's Woolly World KILLS that game! Nintendo could have won E3 with Smash alone but they brought that and so much more. Also Zelda > Uncharted.

maniacmayhem3641d ago

@Killzoner

"Did you see the new Uncharted that Sony revealed?"

Oh, you mean the one where Drake wakes up and walks off into the forest? Wow, amazing nail biting action right there. /S

The new LBP looks good but is no where near a huge announcement as some are making it out to be.

"Nintendos E3 was aimed at 10 year olds..."

I guess there wasn't enough cussing, blood and big muscles to satisfy your grown man taste.

Instead Nintendo went with the fun, entertaining and innovative game route. Nintendo showed games and game play that can only be played on Nintendo's WiiU and 3DS as where Sony showed mostly multiplats with timed or exclusive DLC plus trailers of what to come.

marloc_x3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Lol..I was surprised not to see a triangle to start Drake's push up off the sand..(oh! Forgot that was not gameplay, better luck next E3).

Since you mentioned blatant rip off, are you stoked for All Stars 2nd Round?

Wait..I know what you REALLY has you hyped Zoner.. BOOMSHAKALAKA !

sinspirit3637d ago

@wonderfulmonkeyman

I'm sorry, but nothing on Mario Maker? Dude, Mario Maker looks really awesome and all, but people have been recreating Mario levels in LBP for years, and it extends far far beyond that. You have complete creative control in LBP, rather than premade objects that you paste to create a course. Again, I am excited for Mario Maker, but don't get all biased and start spouting generic defensive retorts.

And the Uncharted reveal was an in-game cutscene. It was not CGI nor was it prerendered.

Only thing going for them was No Man's Sky? Seriously, you can't just ignore that they have big AAA games announced, many indies shown, and some big F2P titles coming and act like it's an argument. I love Nintendo but your ignorance is absolutely ridiculous.

@JohnathonACE

There are already LBP levels similar to that from years ago. The art style is similar. And there's no justification to support that Yoshi's Wooly World "kills" LBP. It will be a great game for sure. But how does it "kill" LBP, an already established franchise that revitalized the classic platformer market and has one of the most extensive creation tools in a game. Seriously, like something all you want, I like it too, but stop these ridiculous fanboy-ish retorts.

Such linear ways to think.

Utalkin2me3641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

@wonderfulmonkeyman
BTW, LBP is way more in depth then mario maker. Secondly Uncharted reveal was in game engine and not CGI.

No they didnt win E3. But, i was really excited for Mario maker. The games i was excited for i already knew and have seen some footage of some. Only surprise i was really excited about was splatoon.

wonderfulmonkeyman3641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

In-depth doesn't always mean better; the presentation and implementation of MM was more solid, and that's just the E3 showing. Mario Maker is still in production, and even despite that, it was capable of switching between two distinctly different animation styles on-the-fly.

It's going to break servers when it finally releases; EVERYONE is going to want to use that game to share their own custom stages!

Second, by CGI, I was referring to cut-scenes and no actual gameplay.

Overall, just the Smash Tournament alone had more hype than the other two press conferences.
You should have seen the reactions of the crowd when Megaman pulled off that Final Smash; it was like the Twilight Princess reveal all over again.

I still say Nintendo won it this E3.

wonderfulmonkeyman3641d ago (Edited 3641d ago )

I think Nintendo really made the right choice by doing a tournament and those The Treehouse developer interviews.

The Treehouse alone allows Nintendo fans to enjoy E3 for all 3 days with new stuff, instead of just one piddly little press conference.
Also, DID YOU SEE THE REACTIONS AT THE TOURNAMENT?!

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

THAT IS WHAT E3 USED TO BE LIKE!

And now that the Press Conferences are only press, tournaments like this become all the more important for bringing the crowd reactions that the people want!

Nintendo made the right move this E3.

Last year, they didn't do the "no conference" thing right, but this year?

THEY NOT ONLY MADE UP FOR IT, THEY >NAILED IT!<

ZeekQuattro3641d ago

Pretty intense. It was almost like the Twilight Princess reveal a few years back. Gotta love the commentary too. The guy was screaming the Mega Man cartoon's theme song. lmao

maniacmayhem3641d ago

Nintendo showed those other boys how it's done.

You show games that can only be played on your system and your system alone.

You announce games, then you back it up by actually showing GAME PLAY! Not trailers, not CG scenes, actual gameplay.

You keep it moving, you don't bring out exec, after exec after exec with the same corny dialog and scripted multiplayer game play.

You show titles that put the fun back in video games without the first question being asked or given is if the game is in 1080p or 60 fps. Doesn't matter when each game shown looks ridiculously fun.

Nintendo proved that the underdog does win.

randomass1713641d ago

Kinda like Rocky. They took the blows and then waited for the right opportunity to strike! I seriously don't think anyone expected Nintendo to do it so well, and with such an unconventional approach to E3! Kudos to everyone, especially Nintendo!

eyeofcore3641d ago

I think all doom and gloom will start to go away as mainstream media and consumers are being blown away by punches Nintendo did and gave a royal smackdown to consumers and will continue as they release more and more information about games and other stuff. There is a solid lineup by end of this year plus it seems Nintendo secured first half of 2015 easily with a lot of titles... Guess what, no drought and all exclusives that will sell consoles one way or another.

Back in black and gray. :)

Snookies12205d ago

Yeah, I like the black and gray best. I just don't care for most of the colored ones. They're a bit too flashy for me. Some of the themed ones are pretty cool though.

RupeeHoarder204d ago

the white/black OLED is my personal fav.

Yea. I own it but don’t want to pull out the Wii U

Zeldafan64346d ago

I never unplugged my Wii U. Still play it almost daily but a definitive edition of X would be appreciated.

jznrpg346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

It’s one of the systems I have the least games for . Though there are some really good games on it. I have systems from Atari’s , Nintendo’s, Segas , TurboGrafx 16 , PS’s etc etc so I put a few in my game storage room. I do pull it out from time to time and I have a new one in a box but won’t open that .
But I’d really like to have a Chronicles X but not on Switch whatever the next console is preferably so they can add more quality to it .

Zeldafan64345d ago

Lucky, you didn't need to explain that.

Zeldafan64346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

Playing X at 1080/60 would be great so waiting for the Switch successor would be ideal but it wouldn't be smart to make it a launch game. It would suck waiting til 2025 to get X definitive edition but I think that's what will happen.

I know people say Wii U has no games but I've got over 100 games for it.

luckytrouble345d ago

I mean, when people say a system has "no games" they aren't saying the system literally had no games released on it. They're more commenting on the state of games that make the system worth owning. For many the Wii U never had a game that made the system worth owning, or if it did, it has a Switch port or successor at this point anyways so they were effectively proven correct to have never purchased a Wii U in the first place.

Yes, depending on the individual the Wii U remains worth owning for the handful of games still locked to it, but for many they'd rather just wait to see what else gets ported in the future at this point. There is exceptionally little you can only play on a Wii U these days though, especially with the eShop dead so anything that may have existed only on it is no longer of consequence to non-Wii U owners.

chaos999346d ago

They said it cost too much time to remap controls unfortunately

luckytrouble345d ago

In all fairness, that's probably a reason they're passing on a few of the still Wii U locked games. Starfox Zero, among the reasons you may not want to port it, would need its entire control scheme reworked from the ground up. Chronicles X may not be as extreme of a case (I don't know, I've never played or watched gameplay), but often unless a game is going to sell really well, it can be hard to convince a company to do more than the basic expected remaster work. Heck, a lot of people figure the only reason we got Galaxy 1 in the 3D All Stars collection for example is because they had already done the work for the Nvidia Shield port for China, which subsequently is likely the major reason they didn't include Galaxy 2. They simply did not want to remap the game controls. It may sound silly since it sounds so simple just by the words, but you have to figure more goes into it than you're probably thinking if it's that much of a sticking point.

DefaultComment346d ago

Yes, I agree. We definitely need to retake Xenoblade Chronicles X which btw it left us on a cliffhanger suggesting there wiull be a XCX2 .... and im up for it.

isarai346d ago (Edited 346d ago )

I put so many hours into X, just please ad a music volume setting was going crazy walking around base and hearing

"UH UH... YEAH!.. YEAH!...YEAHYEAHYEEEEAAAAH!..U H UH!"

FinalFantasyFanatic345d ago

I can't believe they haven't done it yet, it's the Xenoblade game I'm most excited for, I would buy it in a heart beat.
