Pixelitis Picks: What we hope to see from Nintendo at E3 2014

"It’s been a trying one and a half years for Nintendo and its Wii U console, and the company knows that it has to make this year count.

The company is not even close to any sort of danger given the Wii U’s performance, in part due to the strong and steady 3DS and its 2DS brother, we’re fairly certain that 2014 needs to be the year where they really need to step up their game.

With a record-breaking 1.2 million sales of Mario Kart 8 over its release weekend, Nintendo’s outlook on the commonly misunderstood system is still fairly positive. The publisher’s other big hitter, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, will be getting tons of attention at E3 this year thanks to an official tournament that’s bringing in professional Smash players from around the world. Couple that with the announcement of a Gamecube controller adapter for the Wii U, and it seems like Nintendo is really trying to step up its game with enticing more of its fanbase to get hyped for the Wii U."

Wow, nice! I like his hopes (keyword hopes) very much. He wants Mother 3 localized. That may happen! A new Earthbound (on Wii U at that) would be beyond awesome. Star Fox or F-Zero (or both in a perfect E3) would be shocking but soooo awesome at this point...lol.

I'm pretty easy--a playable version of a new Zelda a kin to tech demo and I'll call it good. Give it a '14 release date and preordering it first chance I get (bundle and better yet).

My pipe dream would be a console centric Pokemon RPG though. I don't care if I've outgrown the original target audience I would pick it up anyways. I would even be on the fence of being "that guy" standing in line on my own surrounded by kids and their family. Pokemon RPGs are some of the best and just low key fun compared to many games nowadays.

Granted other games would be great but just one of those and I would be buying a Wii U for sure. Pokemon would basically help seal Wii U's success all its own and Mario could ride its wake so no clue why they haven't done it yet.

Theres absolutely no way Zelda will ship this year, man. Ive got a sneaky feeling for Mario Galaxy 3/Universe landing December. Hope for at least news on Metroid anyway!!

Pro: More people getting to experience a game they weren't able to before.
Con: Hearing either Lucas or Ness yell "PK fire" ever again.

Earthbound Creator Says Nintendo Considered Mother 3 Translation, But It Was Complicated

IGN writes: Mother 3 is one of the most hotly-desired RPGs ever, having never received an official translation in North America despite the cult popularity of its predecessor, Earthbound. But over all these years, series creator Shigesato Itoi has never weighed in on the discussion - at least until now."

They should remake Earthbound, and bring it to modern platforms.

A translated version of this game on Switch Online would be nice, and it would add a lot value to the Expansion Pak service.

Bring it already. Nintendo is frustrating at times

I would love to see an Earthbound game just redone with 3D-ish models and characters. Just having a remaster for Switch Online would be awesome!

Did you ever see the Earthbound 64 concept/materials? That actually looked really good, but I'd also take a HD-2D remake as well.

FinalFantasyFanatic178d ago

Nintendo seems very whimsical about what they give they're fans, sometimes they'll give them a bone (e.g. Mario RPG, Thousand Year Door for the Switch), and other times, they just give them little to nothing (agh, the Zelda anniversary).

When you consider the cost of gaming back then and even now, no excuses when costs are involved.

It's sad this comic book turned tabletop roleplaying game never got a good video game.
