Not bad monitors. I mostly us a 24" 1080p HP monitor with my X1. That last comment was a bit off the mark and is clearly trolling. X1 outputs every game and all the content at 1080p.

I had a causal gamer ask me why Xbox One can't do 1080p a few days ago. It's definitely spreading that X1 struggles with 1080p. Half of the games on Xbox One are not 1080p.

^^The point I was trying to make is that if my eyes are telling me that a game looks gorgeous, the resolution it runs at doesnt matter. This goes for 3rd party games AND exclusives.

Me not playing Sunset Overdrive has nothing to do with resolution = P, I wouldnt trust Insomniac with $60 of mine. Last 3 times I did was nothing but utter disappointment. Also I do not think it is spreading to the casual, most casuals I know that have an X1 dont even know what the game is.

On topic, monitors are great for gaming, I have dual monitor set up with my computer and my ps3 and ps4 hooked up to them as well. I can never go back to gaming on my TV, the much larger more expensive tv is sitting in the spare bedroom collecting dust lol.

sunset overdrive looks like a modern day jet set radio, it looks ok, nothing gorgeous, plus i would skip insomniacs first exclusive title for xbone since its gonna take a them a few titles to get the hang out the xbox.

X1 does 1080p and most games upscale to 1080p when running at 792p and 900p. That monitor will be used. The one thing consoles wont be using is 4k TVs. I wouldn't be feeling sorry for anyone. If you cant run games at 4k then I feel sorry for you.

Stupid resolution talk again. You guys simply have no idea how many factors make for a realistic looking game. I own probably all of the consoles (and a monster pc) ever released with all the big hits(pm me if you want, I can proove it) and yet I have never seen a game that look on par with 900p Ryse. Just yesterday I've started to go through the game once more on Legendary difficulty and to look for Easter Eggs hinted by devs and I Literally can't believe the beauty of this game. Every location is so complex and filled up with next gen effects and simulations not seen in other games that just blow my mind. 900p? With it's great AA I can't see any jaggies eventho I spot plenty in other 1080p.

Higher res is always nice but it's not the biggest factor in graphics. 900p or even 720p movie will always look more real than 1080p game of this gen. Why? Simulation (such as cloth, physics, flesh... ah yea, ryse even got flesh and fat simulated...jiggly cheeks), effects, LIGHTING. If you can't undrstand that, then there's no hope for you and we'll be stuck with mediacore looking games bumped to 1080p just for the sake of it. Is minecraft in 8k res best looking game in the world?

You're missing the point of the resolution argument. While sure, resolution is only one factor and isn't the only variable for good visuals. The FACT is that you get the SAME EXACT GAME on the PS4 but with a higher resolution which just looks better. The same is said for the PC if people want to go that route.

Personally I don't care that much anymore either. When the X1 drops to $299 I'm getting one for Gears of War.

I use a 51 inch Plasma Samsung F8500 with my PS4 ...

If you want a big screen with minimal input lag pick up a sony 55w802a (16.9 ms) or sony 55w900 (19ms).

Plasmas are lovely for games and films. I had a Samsung Plasma for a while (until my kids cracked the screen).

Unfortunately the LCD marketing train was too effective, and Plasmas aren't really a choice any more.

I have a 4k TV now, and it is fantastic. But I do miss some of the qualities that my old plasma brought to the table.

That is very, very important, My brother has an old hitachi LCD tv and the input lag is horrendous, Playing a game like shatter you can really see it, it is impossible to play any game that requires accuracy.

A lot of companies don't document display lag so it's a crap shoot unless you go to a web site that tests them like www.displaylag.com

Also.. People have a huge misconception about resolution it seems.. If you have a 1080 panel, then you physically ha e those pixels 100% of the time no matter the source.

X1 (and ps4 i think,ps3 didn't) use scalers to make sure all content is outputted to your TV at 1080p

The only difference is the source and method used to get 1080.. It yeilds little difference, but people like to use the old 720 vs 1080 debate as if we were still using 720p displays.. The debate over physical pixels in your panel does not apply here

There is more than a "little" difference between native 1080p and upscaled 1080p like there's a difference in 1080p vs 792p or 900p vs 792p. If resolution doesn't matter half the people who go next gen would've just kept their old ps3's or 360's so you all who claim it doesn't matter now when last gen the differences were small and it mattered do not get to say now that it doesn't matter when the differences are twice sometimes three times what those differences were last gen. Don't by hypocrites.

If you are competitive you will find that a 23" monitor or so actually helps your game. Just a heads up, give it a shot. I have done both, and now I cannot go back to my big TV for gaming. Unless its a casual sit back session.

Then again the TV i have(55' LG 3D Cinema) sucks ass, the input lag on that thing is horrid. Much prefer my 19' Asus monitor.

You've never used a 24" 1080p screen then. It makes a huge difference compared to using a 720p one.

Hell, I can even tell the difference between 720 and 1080 on phones (try putting a Galaxy S3 next to a Nexus 5 and tell me 1080p doesn't make a difference on small screens).

Its size and distance that you view a monitor/TV that counts. That's why a 32 inch TV at 720p or 1080p at 10 feet you can not see the difference. but the closer you get the more you can see the differences. That's why 4k TV's will be big in Asian markets because they have small homes and are closer to their TV's, pc gaming will benefit too.
I also read that movies on big TV's might not gain a huge benefit for the majority of people because how far we sit fort the TV's in America.

I just remember all the tech articles I used to read when 1080p tvs were first coming out. I thought that once pixels got so small at a certain point you couldn't really tell the difference between 1080p and 720p.

Once I moved on from SD I've only used 1080p and had larger screens so I wouldn't know..

@Mrtemper It's great to see small details at a distance really. The monitor itself costed me 300$ + 50$ of shipping. It's a korean branded monitor (they take rejected apple display and sell em dirt cheap) I think the price has got up a bit to 400$ these days but it's still a killer deal. But it is hard to drive for the GPU, it's like 80% more pixels and if you want to keep up 60 fps and the eye candy well it takes quite the rig.

I feel bad for companies like Ubisoft who work for 5-7 years on a game like Watch Dogs, then probably are terrified to have to reveal it's not 1080p because it will create a stigma among petty gamers who put that type of thing ahead of all else. When 900p was announced, I saw more than a few comments saying pre-orders were cancelled. It's sad really.

I know a monitors strength is it's "Response Time" but some of these TV's have come a long way since "2006" so...

Although TVs are better than they have been, monitors are still completely necessary for their response time, especially for gaming. The price may seem high, but depending on what type of monitor and what the specs are, the price could be very justifiable.

I've been able to get a 32" HDTV from Walmart for $99, it's hard to compare prices between monitors and TVs because of all the different factors.

Nice speakers, 3D capabilities, and multiple HDMI input ports for the 7 consoles I hook up to it using a two HDMI splitters...

Although I have my gripes with Sony, this monitor is great for a desk and gaming. n fact I have 3 of them so if one dies I will have backups!

It's truly amazing how much this thread just brought out everyone's ignorance in spades. This kind of thing gives me no hope for the human race, it's hard to believe that some of these people will have a right to vote. Both consoles output every game in 1080p whether or not it's native doesn't matter to the screen at all. It will treat X1 and PS4 equally. That being said, I'll stick with my 55" Samsung

It's truly getting pathetic how much some people want to beat their chest over this. The resolution differences have never ever proven do be a major difference as of yet, yeah, I get what it says on paper, I know that PS4 has better hardware...blah blah blah, I love my Wii U and PS4 too, but there still isn't a single game on this or any other monitor that would show a major difference (or any noticeable) when playing PS4 and X1 side by side in real time. PLEASE, can we get past this already?

The longer it goes on, the more pathetic it looks. I know there is a group of fanboys out there that think that by trolling consistently and making a huge deal out of resolution differences will make Xbox Fans cry themselves to sleep....the problem is that X1 fans (esp those of us that have both systems) can see with our own eyes that these "differences" are extremely minor at best...and definitely nothing worth bragging about...so while these fanboys are smiling and thinking they just pissed is someone's coffee, everyone that actually has a clue is just looking at them like they are extremely insecure and scared. I got my PS4 expecting a noticeable difference, and while I'm happy that I have one ultimately, the only thing that it's proven to me is that I could have waited till they had more exclusives I care about and get one then...right now it's really just a really expensive inFamous box (which was good for one playthough).

Sorry if this gets you fanboys all riled up, (just think of it as tough-love...believe it or not, I'm the best friend you could have right now) I DO truly love PS too in the long run, but maybe the sooner you realize that you're not boasting as well as you THINK you are...the quicker we can move past this and get back to important things like if games are fun or not. There are plenty of other aspects to gaming that are much more important than these Res "differences" (and you still may end up liking PS4 better).
