Been playing since Thursday, the cars damage it's terrible physics tho. Cars just bounce.

CaptainFaisal3650d ago

I have been playing since Saturday and i have to say that the game is amazing ! the only thing i hate is the driving mechanics it feels weird similar to APB (ALL POINTS BULLETIN) WITCH SUCKED! But the game is fun to play my final thoughts 8/10 and its repayable missions are fun! you can change your approach every time! go stealth or gun blazing!
driving killed it for me unfortunately and this is letting me lose hope on The Crew! since its similar driving mechanics ...

Patrick_pk443650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

The game is fine in every other category but vehicles. Physics, damage, control is all awful. I don't understand how developers who make open world games can get the driving right like GTA.

I've been playing since Friday.

Dee_913650d ago

What about the pedestrians and traffic? From most of the pictures I can only see 2 to 3 pedestrians and a hand full of cars.In the e3 2012 trailer, the fullness of the city is what really attracted me to the game.. now its looking like true crime streets of LA lol

starchild3650d ago

I don't know what videos or screenshots you are looking at, all I can say is that in the final game there are a ton of pedestrians and traffic. It never feels empty unless you are out in the country or something. In all honesty it feels about like what you find in a real city, i.e. some areas are denser with people than others, but the overall density is very realistic.

THC CELL3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

Play digital trip with the car plenty of people. Cars are like sensitive going slow at full speed can be like a tank. Not played with any setting yet but you do get a bullet time. That unless too lol

Dee_913650d ago

@starchild I've been looking at Watchdog screens since they started "leaking", and theres usually a hand full of cars and very few pedestrians. Thanks for the reassurance though! I guess its just the angles or something

AgentSmithPS43650d ago

Cars are a big part of the game that's disappointing... maybe if enough people complain they'll patch it. I've seen vids where it almost looks like the car is 'floating' on the road instead of driving on it.

snookiegamer3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

Hi THC CELL

Just a question...

I've read somewhere the Cars drive heavily like a Tank or clunky Spelunky lool

Nah seriously tho, can you describe the car mechanics for me in more detail, or what game/s would you compare it to?

Saints Row 3rd = Bad
GTA IV, V = Reasonable, Good
Sleeping Dogs = Bad
Just Cause = Reasonable
Far Cry 3 = Bad
LA Noire = Bad
Burnout Paradise = Awesome

I need to know before I pick up my copy at Midnight Launch.

Thanking you :)

CaptainFaisal3650d ago

In my experience its a mixture of Saints row 3rd, sleeping dogs, APB, and just cause. Dont get me wrong its drivable but just feels wrong.

Watchdogs : Reasonable, NEEDS PATCH BADLY

snookiegamer3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

@faso0oly10 "Helpful"

Thanks for taking time out to reply...

Yup, well I guess that's probably bad news for me since I hated the driving in almost all (never played APB) those games.

But the gullible in me is still prepared to buy Watchdogs tonight though?

...I'm such a doozy ;/ lulz

zeuanimals3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

I wish a dev made an open world sandbox game with realistic driving mechanics. Would be so amazing, though many people would complain because "sim mechanics are too hard", which they can be, but that's what's fun about them. Pulling off crazy maneuvers as you run from the cops would be infinitely more satisfying if the mechanics were realistic. Wouldn't be cheap to do, though.

I don't think any open world sandbox game even has the ability to drive manual.

Ripsta7th3650d ago

GTA 5 did. I'm pretty sure rockstar managed to get this right as they are in collaboration with the midnight club studios(not sure if same developers) but the driving in gta5 was superb. Handles like a racing game

cyguration3650d ago

@Ripsta7th

GTA V had arcade physics. GTA IV with the realism mod had VERY realistic physics and fits in line with what zeuanimals is talking about.

In fact, with the realism mod on, GTA IV is setup where if you get into one big crash your car gets completely totaled and becomes undrivable.

zeuanimals3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

@cyguration:

Thanks! Gotta check that out.

nerdman673650d ago

Yeah, I have been playing since Friday, and the car damage is awful. Ran full speed into a wall and the bumber was hanging off a little, and the hood had a small dent. It takes a lot to make a mark on them.
And it is total BS when a small car bumps my truck off of the road during a chase, because for some reason it is like a wall when trying to push you off of the road

starchild3650d ago

Uh...what do you mean they bounce? Of course they bounce. Cars in the real world do the same. I honestly don't understand this complaint. Cars crash, there's a crunch, and then a bit of a bouncing away from each other (in some cases). It seems the same as I have seen in real world crashes.

DarkLord10033650d ago

Is there actually someone who enjoys the game?

sdozzo3650d ago

I think it was more of a 'why does everyone need to find a fault' statement. Not him bashing the game.

DarkLord10033650d ago

Ok - I haven't played it myself but somehow there semms to be only negative press about the game. I'm really curious about the first reviews... Embargo can't lift soon enough...

memots3646d ago

It's called entitlement , they will complained to no end about the slightest little things. It's sad really

Enough with the Watchdogs articles ...

cfc833650d ago

I have pointed out how poor the bounce cars are. For some reason people down vote facts. Youd think ubisoft give tablets to assholes aswell.

DoctorJones3650d ago

'Youd think ubisoft give tablets to assholes aswell.'

Have you received yours yet?

cfc833650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

You'd be one of these rare doctors who gets tablets from other people. The old ubisoft prescription.

darksky3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

Did they start giving suppositories with the game?

Walker3650d ago

Looks teribble compared to GTA IV

Are_The_MaDNess3650d ago

he said GTA IV not GTA V..... sigh dont you guys remember anything? how they downgraded the damage models in all the cars and such between the game?

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

yezz3650d ago (Edited 3650d ago )

I find the damage in GTA V also better and more realistic than in watchdogs. Watchdogs cars receive fair amount of damage and it looks good but it's not very dynamic. Just a small touch to another car creates massive sparks and smoke.

Watch Dogs Deserves A Remake, More Than Ever

With the world of information and technology, privacy and security growing every day, Watch Dogs deserves another chance in the spotlight, now more than ever.

RaidenBlack1030d ago

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.
All 2014+ Ubi titles are just underwhelming. Especially ones from 2016+ are just cancer.

LucasRuinedChildhood1030d ago (Edited 1030d ago )

Seriously, are we so far removed from Ubisoft actually making good games that people now praise Watch_Dogs in retrospect?

"Watch_Dogs has remained one of my favourite games of the last ten years." Jesus Christ.

HankHill1030d ago

I remember being so disappointed in Watch Dogs when I played it at release. It was alright, but I think I fell for the hype and I needed a game to play on my new PS4.

obidanshinobi1030d ago

This is what happens when mediocrity gets praised as good.
Standards are slipping across the whole entertainment industry.
What was once considering rubbish is now considered as OK, what once was OK is now being praised as good etc etc.

LamerTamer1030d ago

Everyone has their own likes. I liked it a lot myself. I played through it twice and liked the car chases and the open world with fairly decent environments and missions. It suffered from the whole downgrade thing where they showed graphics that weren't actually there. No game will appeal to everyone but it was still ambitious for it's time.

gantarat1030d ago

assassin's creed 1 should get a remake.

ExBee1030d ago

For certain! AC1 was brilliant at the time but with new graphics and gameplay it would be amazing! Do you prefer old combat or new though?

RaidenBlack1030d ago

I'd say a reimagining of AC1.
I direct AC1 remake would be a bad idea. It'll need better story pacing and significant better world building.

BlaqMagiq11030d ago

Old. Let it play like how it did with AC2-Syndicate style gameplay but refine the setting and story.

Profchaos1030d ago

It would need a lot changed for it to be enjoyable again as even back in 2007 on launch we were all complaining about it's repetitive gameplay go here perform one of three side quests repeat then assassination now do it over and over until a big battle with a unforgiving checkpoint system.

BlaqMagiq11030d ago

Absolutely. It needs it. The only AC I truly didn't enjoy.

chicken_in_the_corn1029d ago

I'd prefer it didn't. Ubisoft would make it so bloated, it wouldn't be anywhere near the original

smolinsk1030d ago (Edited 1030d ago )

Absolutely, this watch dogs legion was terrible boring.

Profchaos1030d ago (Edited 1030d ago )

As a fan of the franchise legion was garbage and I regretted my purchase for the first time in the franchise the entire thing felt like an experiment in NPC behaviour and released without the writers input on what makes a good story.

I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though as wrench and Aiden are brought back and the campaign was rewritten to fit them.

I am tempted to buy the season pass to play it again with Aiden but fool me twice shame on me I'm waiting for a deep sale

camel_toad1030d ago

Agreed. Despite the annoying hipness of the characters in part 2 I thought it was a really fun game. I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how many steps back they took with Legion. You'd think it was made by an entirely different team. Or was it?

It was just so devoid of fun.

LamerTamer1030d ago

Honestly one of my biggest annoyances with Legion is that they took out the camera views for the driving. I mean the behind the car view that they stuck us with is near unplayable. I always used a first person driving view. After two releases why did they take OUT features? I don't get it.

TheSinsibleOne1030d ago

The fist watchdog game was the best by far
After that they weren't weird and annoying with that hipster stuff. Aiden was a badass.

LamerTamer1030d ago

I thought so at first too. I got used to it and it ended up being good after some play time. I just had to give it a chance.

TheEnigma3131030d ago

Remake the PoP series from xbox/ps2/gc era

RaidenBlack1030d ago

They are remaking Sands of Time.

TheEnigma3131030d ago

That's good news. Hopefully it's done right.

Inside the Driver game that died so that Watch Dogs could live

From VG247: "When cars slide, they leave tyre marks. In a game like Driver, they’re an aesthetic touch, part of the inherent cool of a handbrake turn. But those dark shadows in the road also tell a story. From tyre marks, you can determine the speed of a vehicle, when it started to skid, and its ultimate direction of travel – long after the car itself has vanished into the distance."

vallencer1095d ago

Different spellings in different parts of the world friend. Tyre is a correct way to spell it.

Pridefall1094d ago

Dunno why you got downvpted when tyre is correct in Australia.

neutralgamer19921095d ago

Give us driver San Francisco remastered

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1095d ago

Why did they stop making some of the best games ever? Driver was one of them.

Gameseeker_Frampt1094d ago

Assassins Creed 2 showed Ubisoft how to make money and Far Cry 2 showed them that gamers don't like complex ideas. Now Ubisoft just turns out games that are just variations of the same thing.

WeAreLegion1095d ago

Best driving mechanics ever made. Nothing has come close.

Gardenia1095d ago

A story driven game with pure driving gameplay. I'd love to see a new Driver game or a remake of the first one.

ApocalypseShadow1095d ago

Yes. This one. A definite remake of the first without adding any ridiculous fluff. The first game had great physics and sound for its time. The start of the car in the beginning cinema I watched constantly. My father and uncles were big muscle and classic car freaks. Only thing crazy about the game was the relentless cops in the last level. Insane the way those police cars were and launched at you.

Bleemcast made it look better just like PC emulators. But would definitely take a remake.
