I love Zelda AND Dynasty Warriors, so this goes together like peanut butter and chocolate, it's going to be frickin awesome, cannot wait.

If Nintendo keeps up the partnerships like this and delivering exclusive experiences to the WiiU, it could make the system one of Nintendo's most iconic consoles to date. I can barely wait for e3 at this point!

Although Nintendo is going to have a shortcoming of third party games on WiiU, I think they are going to have the most exclusives. And that makes me happy.

I think that is an awesome idea. Nintendo does keep a really close look at their franchises or should I say keep it close to the main company, tho so it would be a really uncharacteristic approach , but to be honest they need software. If they partner up they could boost titles and boost sales for the generation, ride out the storm and start the next with all lessons learned.

The logic behind this makes no sense to me. Exactly what do you expect to happen if these games are given to those devs to make?

Whatever you are going to get will bare little resemblance to Star Fox, Metroid or Z-zero outside of it haven the names and themes.

I certainly like to see new iterations of the those series but why do people constantly tout these exact same names like the games are going to suddenly become magic in their hands. All of the devs you listed make good games but those game usually pale in comparison to anything Nintendo first party development produces.

I would rather Nintendo make new iterations of these games themselves.

Hey chill out. I just want Nintendo to release more games from more franchises. Having more third party partnerships (which is already confirmed by Nintendo themselves) is a road to making that a reality. I just think it would be really cool to have good developers working on Nintendo IPs. I'm excited for Hyrule Warriors and I'd like to see more of that happen. I'm surprised you're so cynical about it.

Joking aside, I just want to see more Nintendo games. And I love what Nintendo does themselves, but their manpower can only produce so much. I'd love to see other developers tackle their games (with some of the greats watching over the projects of course).

Just because you want a faster development of ip's doesn't mean they should outsource these games to low tier devs. For once lilbroRx is right Nintendo should make new iterations of these games themselves but what is all these good for if you don't have a WiiU yet? ;)

It's not that, people have more hope because they now know that Eiji Aonuma is working closely with not only Omega Force but Team Ninja as well. The reveal of the story and some of the characters is also pretty refreshing to the Zelda universe.

I'm wondering why Team Ninja is even involved in the first place. Their only real strength is action combat, and that's Tecmo-Koei's thing, too.

Maybe they're handling the AI? Or lighting effects?

They can't have been brought on just for the jiggle physics, right?

I don't expect this to be as good as Wind Waker or Skyward Sword or Twilight Princess, but I think this might be a great Dynasty Warriors game.

As a Nintendo fan and a Musou fan, I think that's a valid worry.

Musou games are very much B-games, whereas Zelda is AAA all the way. And while the mainline musou games have been very consistent over the years, their crossovers have not.

I would point to Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 3 as the best example of a failed crossover--with the incredibly simple, poorly executed narrative, excruciatingly shallow characters (everyone was a catch-phrase), incoherent dialog, and terrible level design (boxes and corridors, everywhere).

That said, there are two indicators that Hyrule Warriors might be above the average for the musou line:

1.) The game was proposed based on the first One Piece Musou game... which, unlike the other crossover musou games, went out of its way to incorporate new elements and stay faithful to the source, rather than simply reskinning Dynasty Warriors. This indicates, to me, that Nintendo expects Tecmo-Koei to invest some work to "Zelda-fy" the game.

2.) Nintendo is actively involved in the development. Hopefully this means they will apply their usual standard of quality to Zelda games to Hyrule Warriors. Potentially, this means a coherent story and realized characters--certainly, it has already resulted in much better art design that Tecmo-Koei is generally capable of, judging by the screens we've seen so far.

It's also worth noting that the main thing that "annoys" people who are new to musou is how brain-dead the AI is and how easy the battles can be. If Nintendo is involved, I expect them to make stuff challenging, if not with the AI then with "puzzle" bosses.

The Zelda universe is one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, so I don't see them just allowing Tecmo-Koei to put out a bad game. Although many disliked Metroid Other M's story, the fundamental game play elements were extremely solid and made it a good game. It seems like this game has had roots for a long time now and all of the information coming out plus the developers most recent comments that the game will be fully unveiled at e3. Makes me believe we've only seen just a fraction of what this game is about...
