Why? Did people honestly believe Halo 5 would be coming to xbox 360? lol

Cmon guys...

rattlesnake_9063640d ago

Having hope for something isn't a crime, my friend.

iamnsuperman3640d ago

I know. Even debating/talking about the issue is absurd. Of course it wasn't coming to the 360. Why on earth would it

Kingthrash3603639d ago

well they did say they would support the 360 for three more years...jus sayn.

georgeenoob3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Good. The more X1 exclusives the better.

GarrusVakarian3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

When i read the title, i said to my self: "was anyone actually expecting it to?". New Halo, new generation, why the hell would Halo 5 be on anything other than the X1?

It's about time developers started focusing on the new gen exclusively, anyway.

*cough* Ubisoft *cough*

morganfell3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

It is a smart move.

At some point development for older consoles must be abandoned in order to fully optimize the game for the new generation. It isn't a matter of simply assembling a second dev team for older hardware. I am sure sales would more than pay for that effort. But instead it concerns fulfilling a vision for a game with the least amount of compromise.

I am mystified anyone expected a game that is launching in late 2015 to be on both last gen and current gen. Nothing necessarily wrong with that merely it would not be the norm if the game is intended to be hardware intensive.

Bigpappy3639d ago

True. If the game is design around X1's capabilities, it would be almost a complete different game on 360. Would require a second team just focusing on how to best present it.

randomass1713639d ago

Since it's Xbox One exclusive and being done by 343 and Microsoft, they can focus on making it look like the best Halo game to date, as it should be.

Pro Racer3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

MS needs a console seller, and they're hoping Halo 5 will be it. Releasing it for 360 would be counterintuitive for them. Plus now they can brag about it being a true "next-gen" Halo.

I just hope that PC will get some love in terms of Halo. Not expecting Halo 5 PC anytime soon, but I'd love to see Halo 2 and 3 on Steam.

4Sh0w3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Yeah I can understand hope, if you can't afford a X1 by then I guess. Still if you really want them make the best Halo 5 they can then 360 would only hold them back or you'd get a dumbed down version by a second team which is still resources better spent on X1.

At some point those sticking with last gen consoles or very late adopters have to just figure they got their money's worth with a huge library of great games to play but progress of the brand means moving forward= Halo 5 runs on a brand new engine built from ground up for Xbox One:)

QuickdrawMcgraw3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Why would the game be on the 360...MS abandoned the 360 long ago...Whoops sorry...I don't think I am allowed to say that here on N4Xbox...
@ats1992...Sony released 3 pretty good games for the PS3 less then a year ago...Willing to compete against the PS4 release...Now that's support...

BattleN3639d ago

I don't want to have to buy xbone for one game, this is bad news for Gears 4 on 360 also

WiredX3640d ago

Abandoning all the Xbox 360 users, just like that? This seems unfair too.

ats19923639d ago

By that logic why am i not getting uncharted 4 for my ps3? Microsoft and Sony need games to sell their new consoles and putting a system seller like this on the last generation console would be a mistake.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Seems expected. They did this from Xbox to 360 as well. It's strange to expect anything else. I think Sony is the only one that supports their older consoles. Nintendo doesn't even do that.

By support I don't mean AAA console pushers. I mean quality titles. I.e. Two tales games and a bunch of other rpgs are coming to ps3 within the next 3 months

ats19923639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

@ Kenshin

Sony really isn't the one supporting the ps3 right now. Most of the exclusives that are coming to ps3 are from 3rd party developers and not from sony owned studios.

lelo3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

Sony completely abandoned the PS3. To my knowledge, they don't have any 1st party exclusive coming to the PS3 in the near future... Microsoft also doesn't have many exclusives for the X360 (well, they have Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and LocoCycle for X360, they are first party), but the X360 is a console one year older then the PS3. Sony should at least support the PS3 for another year.

As for the Vita, same thing. If I'm not mistaken Sony doesn't have one first party exclusive game for it worth mentioning. I hope E3 changes that.

At this moment, 3rd party are supporting the PS3, X360 and Vita.

DLConspiracy3639d ago (Edited 3639d ago )

I am gonna guess that this move is part business and part technical. Business because well xbone should be selling better than it is. However I think the main reason is technical. I think you are going to see directx 12 shine on Halo 5: Guardians. Xbox one is going to be their main focus for this game. Just like the rumored Master Chief collection.

randomass1713639d ago

Kind of expected though. I mean, I thought it was obvious this would be a One exclusive.

Rockefellow3639d ago

Can you imagine the kind of poor soul who actually thought it would be coming to the 360? It's like those people who bought Wii U games, expecting them to work on their original Wii. They're either completely ignorant, or laughably delusional.

Magicite3639d ago

they dropped x360 support years ago. You can officially call x360 dead next year.

Christopher3639d ago

It's a Fall 2015 game. Of course it's not coming to the 360. They're hoping most gamers have moved on by then.

DA_SHREDDER3639d ago

lol people still trying to convince themselves to not jump to next gen and still consider themselves real gamers. lol. I rememeber when I was only 8 and my family was poor I still made sure I got every new system out. True gamers already own next gen, and if they don't own a ps4 or xbone, they are planning on it.

allgamespc20123639d ago

why? this gen is suffering due to last gen still being a priority, its time to move on, throw the old crappy consoles away and move on with the new stuff, cause you know, your "next" gen consoles are already outdated, keep holding them back and the industry will get nowhere.

Tedakin3639d ago

For a second I read that as WIll be coming and my first thought was 'ok ms has lost their goddamn minds.'

randomass1713639d ago

Nah, they know well enough that a franchise like Halo needs to help push their latest hardware. Unfortunate for 360 owners sure, but that's just how business works. It's not unfair, it's just how things are.

It's pretty obvious isn't people?

Master Chief Became More Than A Machine In 343's Halo

In Halo 4, 5, and Infinite, Master Chief became a more nuanced, human character.

In spite of the Halo series’ struggles, 343 deserves praise for adding nuance and characterisation to the ever-beating heart of Halo - The Master Chief. Playing through Infinite, it's abundantly clear that the events of the current and previous trilogies have irrevocably changed the iconic hero. He’s no longer the ‘blank slate’ that was previously presented by Bungie. He’s a fatigued, damaged and fallible protagonist, and one who is meandering through currents of grief, while reveling in his newfound agency. Giving the Chief a compelling and meaningful voice was no small feat, and 343 should be proud of that victory.

This article completely misses part of the appeal of the original iteration of character in the original game trilogy. It was the Chief and Cortana vs an entire alien collective. The blank slate Bungie displayed in their games was genius, he was an mysterious hero a wide audience could identify with because he wasn't as clearly defined as most characters.

The books added a lot of lore and backstory but most Halo players just want a fun game with exposition that doesn't get in the way of gameplay, it's why the Cortana level in Halo 3 was derided.

Not every character has to be a damaged soyboy, a soldier has to suck it up and do his duty.

BandarHub415d ago

A lot of people give the 343 version of Master Chief a lot of slack.
But Fundamentally he is still the same character, he just has a couple more dialogues. He has not changed in terms of attitude.
"Not every character has to be a damaged soyboy, a soldier has to suck it up and do his duty."
And that's what he has done at the end of the day, he did his duty. Watch his partner die, and was ready to destroy the weapon in Halo infinite....he is still the same soilder that everyone remembers

Halo Infintes one was a nice balance between both.

slate91415d ago

Chief and the halo franchise became a joke under 343

Sciurus_vulgaris415d ago

The 343i Master Chief has is based on the books. However, in Halo 4-Infinite, the Master Chief overtime become. gradually becomes more willing to show some emotion.

Obscure_Observer415d ago

"However, in Halo 4-Infinite, the Master Chief overtime become. gradually becomes more willing to show some emotion."

Which is awesome! I love how Master Chief become more John and less soldier.

I mean, the deal is alright… Unfortunately for me the Serious S doesn’t have a disk drive and unfortunately for Gamestop a lot of those games are on or have been on Gamepass/PSNow.

Sgt_Slaughter657d ago

Given the nature of backwards compatibility on new systems, this is a great sale in case you missed out on some gems from last gen.

Mandingo2020656d ago

Most of the games on Xbox are on game pass. The Switch games in this sale are trash c'mon farming simulator that's laughable. The PS4 games should be cheaper. I can't wait for the GameStop going out of business liquidation sale.

neutralgamer1992656d ago

Seriously man I don't get the hate on GS and I guess you want even less options and give more control to the publishers

And you want thousands of people to lose their jobs because you don't like a company. One thing I have noticed is how most who hate on GS haven't shopped at the actual stores in years. Many who hate on GS have also done so listening to others negative stories or experiences. People on YT want clicks and hating on GS is the cool thing

SurgicalMenace656d ago

It's not people's hate that would lose people's jobs, it's the shady business practices of the company. So what you're saying is that because people work there individuals should just support what they don't want to? Sound advice; Hitler too had supporters, employees, and advocates but people go around hating him too. They only hate because of other people's bad stories or experiences; they only spoke bad about him because they wanted attention. It's been decades; lets give his way another go. With your logic anything could be made to sound good.🤷🏾‍♂️

neutralgamer1992656d ago

SurgicalMenace

Seriously you used Hitler as an example to say company has shady practices

You don't have to shop at GS there are many other retailers. I shop there and vast majority of my experiences have been positive and most of the employees are super nice

SurgicalMenace656d ago

Just having some fun, bro.🤣🤣

Mandingo2020655d ago

There are other places to work besides GS. Plus, their benefits are trash so why not work somewhere else?

REDGUM656d ago

And none of those game you speak of you actually own as they are digital not physical & would cost more than $20 as the subscription costs more than that.

Mandingo2020655d ago (Edited 655d ago )

You know you can get game pass ultimate codes for the low on cdkeys or g2a right? You don't need to have a subscription 😂. GS is trash and I'd rather support the mom and pop game store here instead.

BlackTar187656d ago

Why are you people so full of hate? GameStop gives people jobs and provides a physical appearance to see things in the flesh and not just some soulless online experience.

Mandingo2020655d ago

You can get physical at mom and pop game stores plus you can get it online. GS is trash

neutralgamer1992655d ago

Because Mom and Pop shops cost two to three times more for the same product Angie the answer

BlackTar187655d ago (Edited 655d ago )

Mom and pop stores cost more and have even harder time competing against the internet. Also lie to me and tell you have a couple mom and pop stores near you selling games then lie and tell me you shop there.

IanTH656d ago

These sales, while potentially great, really struggle to be valuable given you can't easily parse what games are in stock. You can't just say "only show what is online & what are in my nearby stores". Probably 60-75% of these games in these massive lists are out of stock for shipping, and out of stock locally. It makes it a chore to find anything you'd want, much less 4 of them, much less enough if you wanted to get to a free shipping tier. It's a bummer.

Halo CE over Halo Infinite anyday

Not to mention the impact it had at the time

Flawlessmic726d ago

Halo 3 at the top is correct the only thing id change is swap infinite and halo ce around.

AuraAbjure726d ago

Halo 4 best campaign and multiplayer. Halo 3 best story.

ChubbyBlade725d ago

Are you trying to give people cancer?

AuraAbjure725d ago (Edited 725d ago )

Halo 4 has the hottest Cortana too which explains why the MC is the hardest in that campaign and why H4's multiplayer is the illest. Chief ain't afraid to take on teleporting enemies that can one hit melee kill.
