Spanish Preview: Watch Dogs on PS4 Disappoint Graphically, Ordinary Animations, Ugly Textures & More

The latest preview of Watch Dogs from Spanish website Vandal has some startling comments on graphics/visuals on PS4

Chuk53659d ago

This isn't even recent preview.

sam_job3659d ago

was posted on April 24 around 20 days back

Palitera3659d ago (Edited 3659d ago )

... and is the proof that negative previews can be profitable!

Well, the core idea is that it HAS to be HYYYPEEERBOOOLIIIIIIC (!!!!!!) and specially controverse.

Oh, btw, Vandal, say bye-bye to next Ubisoft events and previews.

Webbyy3658d ago

True but damn.. april 24? that's not that long ago though.. how much could have changed so fast?

PSN-JeRzYzFyNeSt3658d ago

if this is true on PS4 i feel bad for Xbox one

seanpitt233658d ago

If ps4 version is bad just imagine how bad last gen consoles are going to be I think ubisoft bit more off than they can chew with this game.

Th4Freak3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

PC fanboys will love this:

"And we also had the opportunity to play the PC version, and the truth, things do not improve too much, is quite similar to what we saw in PS4, only a little better."

Codewow3658d ago

@Th4Freak, the best part about PC though is that eventually, the modding community will overhaul any poorly done aspects.

Not something devs should ever rely on, but it does provide a positive outlook for common PC gamers that love to spice up their vanilla game with some mods.

Metallox3659d ago

It's from April 23rd, a 3 weeks preview... it's not that old I must say, I don't think they could change a lot in that time.

sam_job3659d ago (Edited 3659d ago )

agreed... hardly expect any change too close to release also its a full FIVE page preview.. so it quiet obvious that these details might got missed out

aceitman3659d ago

and why haven't we seen this in the demos we watch on the ps4.

-Foxtrot3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

Ubisoft could be hiding it.

Either way one of them is bullshitting and it doesn't matter who it is...it will be fun to watch.

If Ubisoft have been covering their arses and lying then I don't think I'll be buying the Division or the Crew day one.

Can you imagine what the Wii U version will look like if this is true.

showtimefolks3658d ago

why doesn't this game looking anything like it did when it was shown first at E3 few years back? was that running on a high end PC?

choujij3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

That would make sense only if it still looked as good on the PC. It was definitely downgraded.

Edit: Why are they saying the PS4 version is running now at 900p\60fps? I thought they just confirmed 900p\30fps?

WickedLester3658d ago

No it was Pixar cartoon. It wasn't even the actual game,

3658d ago
paidadvertiser3658d ago

Not only is it not recent, they left out the beginning of that paragraph that reads:

"Regarding the graphics, saying that we played the PlayStation version 4 and that his greatest virtue was the rate of frames per second, totally stable, something that shows what you have given a high priority, and a picture very clean and clear, thanks to the 1080p resolution."

I'm not sure I trust someone who can tell good textures from bad but not 1080p from 900p. Then again, who am I to doubt an article on a Spanish website written by a random from Madrid with no credentials, who apparently flew all the way to a press event and didn't document any of it. Not only that, they mention having tried the PC version which is odd since Ubisoft only had the PS4 version available for anyone to try. What a lucky soul.

starchild3658d ago

Yeah, I would take this report with a grain of salt.

XiSasukeUchiha3659d ago (Edited 3659d ago )

Is a closed beta dude, not the actually game so please! /s

NVM then!

Kayant3659d ago

"Things like cars and pedestrians suddenly appearing beside, fog on the horizon hiding elements, especially in tunnels, ugly textures, physics leave much to be desired in vehicles, quite ordinary animations, discrete modelling of cars, facial expressions of the last generation" - Well it is a cross gen game at it's core so basically sounds like a AC4 situation.

Am guessing with Watch dogs 2 there would be separate development like with AC Unity and Comet.

starchild3658d ago

Well, AC4 is among the top 5 best looking games out at the moment so I will be very happy if it looks as good as AC4.

Bundi3659d ago

Arguing with someone about an experience you yourself have not had is stupid. I'm not advocating that we blindly accept every opinion without questioning, but this preview is more valid than the opinions of people that have not experienced the game... i.e. you lot.

ArchangelMike3659d ago

You speak too much sense. You sure you came to the right place :)

OT it's just because people have their hopes so high for this game, that they don't want their expectation to be dashed to the ground.

Chuk53659d ago

This preview is clearly from the media blowout that showed a bunch of new material. Taken within that context it is one of many previews that played the same build. A mostly positive reception from many outlets I might add, but not absolutely glowing either.

Shadonic3658d ago

nope this smells fishy, feed into this and the next thing you know the same site will leak something about Half life 3 having a beta or something and being a gears esque cover shooter.

Palitera3659d ago

This is a cross gen title, so...

Plagasx3658d ago

Yea but they posed it as a next gen game so...

Palitera3658d ago

Do you also believe this next Call of Duty will be groundbreaking and innovative?

Damn, you people shouldn't believe everything you are told by commercials...

starchild3658d ago

People make too much of labels. Being cross gen does not prevent it from looking good or having innovative game mechanics.

gamernova3658d ago

Next gen is here...on PC :) Screw 1080. I am gonna 2560 this game :D (by 1440 lol)

system223658d ago

ahh i can't count how many pc guys try to weigh in with their superiority. im sure its great, but most console gamers don't care. if they did, they'd buy pc's.

Linwelin3658d ago

Most console gamers don't care... huh, all people go on about is how much better specs the PS4 has compared to Xb1

dantesparda3658d ago

@linwelin
True, consoletards do like to fight like cats and dogs amongst each over which system is better, but they ultimately do not care about how much better the PC is. They only care about how much better their beloved system is. You get it?

ScottyHoss3658d ago

I guess you could say console gamers look for the best "bang for your buck", sacrificing ultra settings for (from what I've been told by my PC gamer friends) around $1000, which to be honest is worth it (to me; a console gamer). So really that's like two PC gamers arguing about their high end rigs, apples to apples, but comparing two products at such a wide price gap is more complicated and ultimately is a personal choice :) if those high end PCs become affordable F YA ILL GET ONE, but until then it's budget over performance for me.

MysticStrummer3658d ago

You PC guys don't seem to understand that when you say things like "Next gen is here… on PC" you're really talking about a small percentage of PCs.

Both PS4 and XB1 will run this game better than the average PC.

Watch Dogs Deserves A Remake, More Than Ever

With the world of information and technology, privacy and security growing every day, Watch Dogs deserves another chance in the spotlight, now more than ever.

RaidenBlack1027d ago

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.
All 2014+ Ubi titles are just underwhelming. Especially ones from 2016+ are just cancer.

LucasRuinedChildhood1027d ago (Edited 1027d ago )

Seriously, are we so far removed from Ubisoft actually making good games that people now praise Watch_Dogs in retrospect?

"Watch_Dogs has remained one of my favourite games of the last ten years." Jesus Christ.

HankHill1027d ago

I remember being so disappointed in Watch Dogs when I played it at release. It was alright, but I think I fell for the hype and I needed a game to play on my new PS4.

obidanshinobi1027d ago

This is what happens when mediocrity gets praised as good.
Standards are slipping across the whole entertainment industry.
What was once considering rubbish is now considered as OK, what once was OK is now being praised as good etc etc.

LamerTamer1026d ago

Everyone has their own likes. I liked it a lot myself. I played through it twice and liked the car chases and the open world with fairly decent environments and missions. It suffered from the whole downgrade thing where they showed graphics that weren't actually there. No game will appeal to everyone but it was still ambitious for it's time.

gantarat1027d ago

assassin's creed 1 should get a remake.

ExBee1027d ago

For certain! AC1 was brilliant at the time but with new graphics and gameplay it would be amazing! Do you prefer old combat or new though?

RaidenBlack1027d ago

I'd say a reimagining of AC1.
I direct AC1 remake would be a bad idea. It'll need better story pacing and significant better world building.

BlaqMagiq11026d ago

Old. Let it play like how it did with AC2-Syndicate style gameplay but refine the setting and story.

Profchaos1027d ago

It would need a lot changed for it to be enjoyable again as even back in 2007 on launch we were all complaining about it's repetitive gameplay go here perform one of three side quests repeat then assassination now do it over and over until a big battle with a unforgiving checkpoint system.

BlaqMagiq11026d ago

Absolutely. It needs it. The only AC I truly didn't enjoy.

chicken_in_the_corn1026d ago

I'd prefer it didn't. Ubisoft would make it so bloated, it wouldn't be anywhere near the original

smolinsk1027d ago (Edited 1027d ago )

Absolutely, this watch dogs legion was terrible boring.

Profchaos1027d ago (Edited 1027d ago )

As a fan of the franchise legion was garbage and I regretted my purchase for the first time in the franchise the entire thing felt like an experiment in NPC behaviour and released without the writers input on what makes a good story.

I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though as wrench and Aiden are brought back and the campaign was rewritten to fit them.

I am tempted to buy the season pass to play it again with Aiden but fool me twice shame on me I'm waiting for a deep sale

camel_toad1027d ago

Agreed. Despite the annoying hipness of the characters in part 2 I thought it was a really fun game. I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how many steps back they took with Legion. You'd think it was made by an entirely different team. Or was it?

It was just so devoid of fun.

LamerTamer1026d ago

Honestly one of my biggest annoyances with Legion is that they took out the camera views for the driving. I mean the behind the car view that they stuck us with is near unplayable. I always used a first person driving view. After two releases why did they take OUT features? I don't get it.

TheSinsibleOne1027d ago

The fist watchdog game was the best by far
After that they weren't weird and annoying with that hipster stuff. Aiden was a badass.

LamerTamer1026d ago

I thought so at first too. I got used to it and it ended up being good after some play time. I just had to give it a chance.

TheEnigma3131027d ago

Remake the PoP series from xbox/ps2/gc era

RaidenBlack1027d ago

They are remaking Sands of Time.

TheEnigma3131027d ago

That's good news. Hopefully it's done right.

Inside the Driver game that died so that Watch Dogs could live

From VG247: "When cars slide, they leave tyre marks. In a game like Driver, they’re an aesthetic touch, part of the inherent cool of a handbrake turn. But those dark shadows in the road also tell a story. From tyre marks, you can determine the speed of a vehicle, when it started to skid, and its ultimate direction of travel – long after the car itself has vanished into the distance."

vallencer1091d ago

Different spellings in different parts of the world friend. Tyre is a correct way to spell it.

Pridefall1091d ago

Dunno why you got downvpted when tyre is correct in Australia.

mikefizzled11091d ago

The mystery that is En Fore Gee

neutralgamer19921091d ago

Give us driver San Francisco remastered

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1091d ago

Why did they stop making some of the best games ever? Driver was one of them.

Gameseeker_Frampt1091d ago

Assassins Creed 2 showed Ubisoft how to make money and Far Cry 2 showed them that gamers don't like complex ideas. Now Ubisoft just turns out games that are just variations of the same thing.

WeAreLegion1091d ago

Best driving mechanics ever made. Nothing has come close.

Gardenia1091d ago

A story driven game with pure driving gameplay. I'd love to see a new Driver game or a remake of the first one.

ApocalypseShadow1091d ago

Yes. This one. A definite remake of the first without adding any ridiculous fluff. The first game had great physics and sound for its time. The start of the car in the beginning cinema I watched constantly. My father and uncles were big muscle and classic car freaks. Only thing crazy about the game was the relentless cops in the last level. Insane the way those police cars were and launched at you.

Bleemcast made it look better just like PC emulators. But would definitely take a remake.
