Game Informer June Cover Revealed – Call Of Duty: Advanced Warfare

Game Informer - Activision has never been afraid to embrace the future with the Call of Duty franchise. When World War II fatigue set in, it reinvigorated the series and brought its timeline forward with the classic Modern Warfare. It allowed Treyarch the chance to get creative with the franchise, resulting in the well-received Black Ops games.

IT WAZ DER GERD DERN TERRRRRISTS!

Conzul3666d ago

It was the golden gate to 70 versions.
wait wut?

AliTheSnake13666d ago

mehhh, I was hoping for the New Assassin's creed or Fallout 4 or some new game to take the cover.

alexkoepp3666d ago

I hope this causes ubisoft to abandon Ghost Recon Future Soldier 2 so they can get started on a new Recon that is true to the original spirit of the series.

I still can't believe they added a 3rd studio to produce these games. What you need is one game on a 3 year cycle, not 3 games on 3 year cycles. They are running this franchise into the ground quicker than Final Fantasy.

thorstein3666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

I think this game has gone beyond the "murica v terroritst."

I also believe it is a wonderful commentary(yes, in a Call of Duty game (they did it before in MW2)) about what is happening on our planet: The rise of the Private Military Corporation .

You look at G4S and Blackwater and you have to, one day, accept that military forces are no longer beholden to a country's people or to their politics. These PMCs are beholden only to the bottom line.

Don't forget to add the coverage trailer!

Becuzisaid3666d ago

While I found the trailer to be interesting its pretty unlikely that cod will change all that much. Many people will still scream cut and paste rants once they show real gameplay scenarios. And mostly they're probably going to be right. Only this time they'll also be copy and pasting from Titanfall.

I suspect the only reason this is gameinformers cover is because cod generates a crap ton of revenue for gamestop.

Borma3666d ago

Yea well said. 3 years ago they started production and about 6 months ago they all stopped internally at Sledgehammer Games and all said "Let's stop what we are doing, scrap it all, and copy Titanfall in 6 months." /s

Becuzisaid3666d ago

I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or disagreeing lol! I don't think it's a coincidence that this cod has soldiers with double jump ability, environment traversal capability and mechanical suits. I'm not saying that this had all been implemented in the last 6 months but I'm saying that it's unlikely that visceral games wasn't at least partially aware of what respawn was up to with Titanfall.

die_fiend3666d ago

Activision have never been afraid to embrace the future in COD. Except with the game engine that's 15 years old. Kevin Spacey's face looks so bad lol

Acadius3666d ago

I agree. I don't understand how BF4 has great looking faces and yet Call of Duty has these rubberized skin masks.

Ghost_Nappa3666d ago

Because call of duty has to run at 60fps on 360/ps3

joab7773666d ago (Edited 3666d ago )

They could do one thing to show us how serious they r this yr. Release a damn beta. I understand that they r in the unique situation of being one of the few games that can be hurt by a beta, but it would go a long way to both creating a better game and showing us that they r confident with it.

Thatguy-3103666d ago

Battlefield releases betas and for what? The games still come out broken regardless

That is a shame. AW is my favourite CoD. I hope they do a sequel one day.

LordoftheCritics404d ago

Thoroughly enjoyed AW.

Good campaign and everything.

LOGICWINS404d ago

Same. Fantastic campaign, but I wasn't crazy about the jetpacks in multiplayer.

RaidenBlack405d ago

I still prefer CoD based on historical settings or in near future settings(like CoD: Ghost) ... even though I liked infinite Warfare's campaign ... it was top notch

CobraKai405d ago

I felt it was a good time to revisit WW2

porkChop405d ago

I actually really enjoyed WWII. I never understood the hate it got.

JEECE404d ago

A lot of people who never played a shooter prior to like 2012 get really mad about anything that isn't a modern combat game.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare remains the series' lone bright spot this gen

GR: "If one series truly defined the seventh generation of consoles it was Call of Duty. Sadly, the series has struggled to reach the same heights on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and only Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare feels like the previous era of innovation and top-notch storytelling."

I quite enjoyed it but I think black ops 3 was the high point.

Modern warfare could be if a few tweaks are made and the new maps are good.

Baza1654d ago (Edited 1654d ago )

Story wise.. black opps 3 was all over the place. Modern Warfare story is so much more cohesive and actually makes sense.

Immorals1653d ago

Black ops 3 was terrible. The story was absolutely atrocious.

Knushwood Butt1653d ago

I quit that campaign after about an hour. All I remember is some crappy robot drone combat R2D2 thing that you had to use. I didn't make it past that.

Epicor1653d ago

For me the Black Ops installations have always been the high peaks in terms of PVP mode. Black ops 3 campaign was pretty bad though. Advanced Warfare's campaign was pretty good, one of the best ones - but PVP was bad!

gamer91654d ago

LOL Advanced Warfare, too funny

Kabaneri1654d ago

The campaign was OK, but the guns sounded like cap guns and the multiplayer maps were not memorable at all.
