Damn can't they make an english version?

Bonkerz3658d ago

Subtitles sadly, but it still can be a great movie.

NA usually always screws up video game based live action movies.

On top of my list is Resident Evil... they took an awesome survival horror video game and turned it into a teenaged girl's cheesy action flick.
@Spore_777 : I agree that Silent Hill has been the one of best of the lot of live-action video game movies for NA.

Japan does it somewhat better, but for some reason a lot of the live-action video game/anime movies don't look or feel all too real..

Spore_7773658d ago

Silent Hill remains my favourite game to movie adaption.

Pozzle3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

Not to mention, Fatal Frame is a very Japanese series based on cultural imagery, settings, and superstitions. It makes sense that it would be a Japanese movie.

If it is treated as a serious horror movie and not just a silly game adaptation with over-the-top acting and costumes (I'm looking at you Ace Attorney movie!), I think it has the potential to be a good film.

Eidolon3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

good point. and they do tend to over-do it with the costumes and hair.. lol

KonsoruMasuta3658d ago

They don't look or feel too real because they don't have the bloated budgets or high production values NA adaptations have.

If you ask me, most life adaptations never turn out right. It doesn't matter where they are from.

However, this one could work.

Ratty3658d ago

The Silent Hill movie was made by a French director though. Not exactly NA.

If you want this kind of movie to do what it's supposed to, you want it to be Japanese. Maybe they'll localize it later.

TheOneWhoIsTornApart3658d ago (Edited 3658d ago )

@Whitey2k: Why the hell would you want a Japanese horror game that is based completely around Japanese culture and folk lore to be made by English speaking creators?. This being made by Japanese creators and being filmed in Japan is the best thing for this film.

starchild3658d ago

Japanese horror is some of the best horror around. Fatal Frame was always firmly planted in Japanese lore and culture so it is only fitting that the movie be Japanese-made too.

UltraNova3658d ago

Why would you want one? I love watching movies in their original forms. Subtitles suit me just fine!

On topic I hope it turns out good. One example of an anime turned into movie is Deathnote. The managed a perfect transfer of the anime short series to the big screen. This shows the Japanese care about authenticity and I m counting on it.

Now if they had a go on a Silent Hill movie...

If this movie is made right it could really be one of the best horror movies of all time. Fatal Frame is such a great story, and also scary as balls lol. I will definitely watch this.

Spore_7773658d ago

Looking forward to this one!

WeAreLegion3658d ago

Crimson Butterfly is a great story. Don't expect it to be scary though. Mechanics make the game scary. A movie wouldn't be.

It has been a while since the last Japanese Horror film I watched.

Such a shame that they never ported Fatal Frame II: Director's Cut to anything else. The added ending is by far my favourite.

darthv72590d ago

Call of Cthulhu and Cold Fear are both pretty good horror-esq games.

Orchard590d ago

The Thing was a great game back in the day. I would love a remaster or remake.

monkey602590d ago

The NPC Trust system was amazing for its time

KillBill589d ago

One of the very few games that I would actually like to see a remake and deserves a new current gen upgrade.

monkey602590d ago

That's such a good list of games 😍

autobotdan590d ago

Fatal Frame 1&2. Its a horrible shame those two original xbox games never got backwards compatible for series consoles. Horrible
