Dragon Age: Inquisition Trailer Characters Analysed – Leliana Returns?

Dragon Age: Inquisition finally has a release date thanks to a new gameplay trailer – which also showcased the snazziness of the cross-gen visuals. If you paid close attention to the end though you might have noticed something even more interesting, namely the full roster of characters that appear in the game.

Leliana was definitely one of the best characters in Origins, and it was a shame she wasn't back as a playable party member for DA2 (I think she had a small playable part in one of the DLC). Having her back, and in a prominent party role, would be nice.

Varric was the other "must-have" return character, and the best character in DA2, so it's good we already knew he was back. Hopefully Merril will at least make a cameo, as I really liked her as well.

Isabel was another great character, but I could never really get her to fit in a group (she kind of sucked).

I'm curious how Cassandra will be. I liked her from the brief interludes in DA2, and I would assume she's a tankish character. Would be hard for her to be less interesting than Adeline.

Obviously the most important character will be the main character, the Inquisitor. Hawke had potential, but the closed off city (for the most part) and small scale of DA2 really hurt the character. Origins did it right as being one of the only Wardens in the area, making him/her very relevant and integral to the story, not just important because they are super strong (Hawke). The Inquisitor, just from the name, makes me think the character will be much closer in importance to the Warden, thus much easier to build a story around.

Anyway, as much of a letdown as DA2 was (I still enjoyed it), I'm very excited for DA3.

i am very excited it looks like bioware have finally listened to what the fans really want, hopefully this will be the beginning of some great RPG's

Kind of offtopic but I never played the other 2, mostly because of the lack of time, but this gen I really want to pick up Dragon Age, the only thing that is holding me back is if we need to play the other two or is this a seperated story line?? I dont have the time to go back and play the first two..

showtimefolks3673d ago

i think this one is kind of like a reboot of the series and the developers are trying to add what worked in the first 2 games and avoid whatever didn't. Also they are looking at other open world games and adding some features that worked in other games like outposts in farcry 3

i say jump in with this and you will get a fresh new start. I hope there is some sort of video covering the events of first 2 games at start of the game to catch everyone up if needed

martinezjesus19933673d ago

Thanks man, my friends are also thinking of getting this but they also were iffy because they didnt play the first two, they'll be happy to know its somewhat of a reboot.

TitanUp3673d ago

thanks for the explanation i played DA 1 not all the way through and nothing substantial i couldnt get into it.

more interested in these type of games more than i used to be anyways.

You should def play this one, if not the others. And think you should jump in.

Saying that, though, one of my favorite aspects of this series has just been delving into it. Understand about the time, but if you can manage it, would say you should play it makes the games/stories so much better having played the other 2 (even though 2 is just ok). Just a great series overall

martinezjesus19933673d ago

Thanks, yea its one of the series i regret not playing last gen, might take a break from school this summer so I might pick up the first two then, the witcher 1 and 2 are also waiting for me in my backlog!

wedgie3673d ago

I know that you can get the whole series pretty cheap now (just bought them for my bro for his bday). Just one of my favorites

And great calls with Witcher 1 and 2. I got them on a steam sale and just finished 2 about 3 months ago. Also great games!

Leliana returning isn't really a surprise. She has turned up in both games and in two of the four novels. Also, (DA2 Spoilers) she appears with Cassandra at the end of DA2 attempting to find the Champion of Kirkwall with the Seekers.

On a lesser note, I'm not sold that the rogue is Cole for DA: Asunder, but I would like the unnamed mage to be Rhys. I found him to be a more interesting character and he would serve as a nice counter-point to the Anders brand of "freedom-fighting".

Dragon Age: Inquisition Retro Review – A Nostalgic Leap Short Of Legendary

Dragon Age: Inquisition, developed by BioWare, is the third installment in the cherished Dragon Age series. It represents a major evolution from its predecessor, Dragon Age II, incorporating elements that were well-loved in the original Dragon Age: Origins but also introducing new features that stand on their own. While Inquisition improves upon Dragon Age II in many respects, it falls short of the exceptional standards set by Origins.

The quality of these free games has been awesome. Before anyone says they are not free I was already giving Amazon $6 a month for prime shipping and video this isn't why I pay for my subscription

Teflon02927d ago

Still technically paying for it, even if it wasn't your intent. They've been giving out games with Twitch prime, they just changed the name. It's the same sub as that was. If you weren't aware, great. But you're paying for it.

That being said, I don't personally care. For me as long as you're willing to pay that for 1 service and get more. I personally take it as free. Like prime video, music though the prime version is trash, and all the Twitch benefits are all free to me because I didn't care about those when I got it. Just comes with it.

Only noted because that's technically wrong as a defense to that argument, whether I'm on yourside with the initial statement lol

mkis007927d ago

It's free to anyone who has already been paying. IDK why people need to split hairs.

How does Prime Gaming work? Do you keep the games, or is it only as long as you have Prime?

Germaximus927d ago

lol Nice distraction from how they're now charging people to increase viewership. It's "just an option." /wink lol
